Whatever happens tomorrow , history will be created: 1) Will Stalin-led DMK do what even his father couldn’t in TN: win a re-election? 2) Will Vijay be a first day first show super hit? 3) Will Mamata Banerjee become only the third CM to win four consecutive elections in a big state (after Jyoti Basu and Naveen Patnaik)? 4) Will BJP finally breach the Bengal barrier and create history ? 5) will BJP get a hat-trick in Assam? 6) will India not have a left run govt in any state after decades if Cong wins Kerala ? Lots to look forward to: see you early morning. IndiaToday AajTak . Good night, shubhratri!

A shirtless protest by Youth Congress workers at Global AI Summit against PM Modi. Surely there are far better ways to raise a dissenting voice (which is their constitutional right) than disrupt a global gathering where the focus is on technology for the future and not politics as usual? POOR TASTE.

Breaking now: ICC won’t accept Bangladesh demand to shift World Cup matches out of India. We now find ourselves in a tit for tat situation that was entirely avoidable politically, diplomatically and in cricket terms. Social media outrage can’t dictate complex issues ! My quick take a few days ago. Watch:

In communal violence, it’s the poor who suffer the most. This man’s small roadside shop was burnt in Gurugram’s sector 66 this evening. Who will compensate him and many others like him across BOTH communities? Will the ‘mob’ who did this get away? And the key Haryana Qs: WHERE ARE THE COPS? (Video: Sreya )

A shocking viral video has come to light of a mob beating a young man at Bandra station while the crowd is happily filming the incident. The young man, a Muslim, was travelling in a train with a young Hindu girl (allegedly a minor) when the mob chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ hit him mercilessly. No sign of cops, no police complaint lodged yet, no one arrested, no investigation. This is not some remote location.. this is BANDRA, this is heart of MUMBAI.. this is INDIA. Where does the impunity to do this come from? ‘Normalising’ Hate politics? Nafrat chodo, desh jodo!🙏(incident happened reportedly in third week July)

In Delhi PM Modi says ‘criticism is soul of democracy’; in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (Shinde) smash up a comedy club after a Kunal Kamra stand up show. Will anyone in govt (state or centre) speak up to defend Kamra’s right to free expression? Didn’t like what the stand up comedian said? Don’t watch! If it’s defamatory , take legal recourse. Who will now pay for ‘thokshahi’? Will Mumbai police arrest and prosecute the thugs who are all caught on camera? Or will thuggery get away again because of a partisan and compromised state? 😡

It’s that day of the year again: Exit Poll 2026! When I covered my first election in 1989, we had NO exit polls just ground reporting and analysis : maybe that was less injurious to the health of both netas and the media and pollsters too! 😃5 pm onwards on IndiaToday .

I don’t think in the history of parliament such abusive words have been used by an MP against fellow MP : Ramesh Bidhuri has brought down parliament’s image to a new low. Yeh kaise ‘sanskar’ bhai? What’s the use of a new building when this is the level of discourse of our MPs? And why is one of our more sober politicians and former minister Dr Harsh Vardhan laughing? Awful. Shameful.

ABSOLUTE SHOCKER of the day: Ratnakar Sahoo, Additional Commissioner, Bhubaneshwar Municipal Corporation, was dragged from his office and brutally kicked and assaulted in front of a BJP Corporator by goons . All of this happening in broad daylight. A senior officer being treated in this manner is shameful. If this was an opposition ruled state, news channels would be outraging away. This has happened in BJP-ruled Odisha. Strict action must be taken else impunity of netas and their goons will remain unchecked. Will anyone speak up for Odia pride now?

At his press conference, Rahul Gandhi asks: How many journalists in this room are Adivasis? How many journalists in this room are Dalits? How many are OBCs? Only one cameraperson’s hand rises on the last question. Not surprising at all. A 2019 Oxfam report shows: 1) Of the 121 newsroom leadership positions – editor-in-chief, managing editor, executive editor, bureau chief, input/output editor – across the newspapers, TV news channels, news websites, and magazines under study, 106 are occupied by upper castes, five by other backward classes and six by people from minority communities. The case of four individuals could not be identified. 2) Three out of every four anchors (among a total of 40 anchors in Hindi channels and 47 in English channels) are upper caste. Not one is Dalit, Adivasi, or OBC. My counter Qs: will a caste census really ensure greater newsroom diversity? Or isn’t what we really need is an equal opportunities project?

Five months is a very long time in politics: in June, Devendra Fadnavis offered to resign after BJP won just 9 seats in Lok Sabha.. today, he is a conqueror with a three fourths triumph ! Life lesson: never give up, never know what tomorrow brings! 👍 #ResultsOnIndiaToday
