Some people said the effect was a bit cartoony or distracting. Thankfully, the customization options I added make this an easy fix! Here's an example of a different version with a gentle gradient:

I'm no expert, but I think I may have exported these animations incorrectly.

The same principle can be used to fake things like windows and building interiors, as seen here. Ignore the placeholder assets.

Unity 6 finally has a pretty great water system. This was available but lacked a ton of features in the last version I was on. Previously you either had to be a shader wizard or get something inferior on the asset store. Glad this was finally realized.

Another detail that players can't really see in the game, but I did it anyways. When you cycle the rifle, a new round actually gets moved into the chamber :)

Industry tip that many devs don't know: "Knowing how to animate" is propaganda from BIG 3D to sell more Autodesk subscriptions. If you yell at Blender for enough hours, the animations will simply manifest. ☝️🤓

Unity's physics joints don't get along well with parenting, so I wrote a script that fakes some lantern swingy movement. No physics required!💡

Saw some discussion of the reflections in 007 First Light. As far as I can tell, they use Planar Reflections. Here's the same thing in Unity. Easy to set up, but expensive (which is why it's only used in small, enclosed areas at a lower resolution).

I wanted to avoid inconsistencies with Adelaide's rifle, so all the logic is coded like the actual gun should behave. It knows when there's a chambered round, when to eject a shell, when she should do the spinny cycle, and so on. Pretty neat!

Switched from Dynamic Bones over to Magica Cloth for Adelaide's ponytail. DB broke constantly and the physics sucked. The difference is crazy.

Crouched movement is now omni-directional, so it blends animations based on her movement direction :)
