Incapace di avanzare sul fronte, Mosca ha iniziato a colpire sempre più duramente la popolazione civile: centrali elettriche, condomini, ospedali, persino gli autobus che portano le persone al lavoro, come nell’orrenda strage di Kramatorsk. On Tuesday Ukraine was elected for the fifth time to serve on the Human Rights Council since it was established in 2006. It makes Ukraine one of the most frequently elected members of the Council. 1. 2006–2008: Ukraine was a member from the Council's creation in 2006, serving two consecutive terms in 2006–2008 and 2008–2011. 2. 2008–2011: the second of those consecutive terms. 3. 2018–2020: Ukraine was elected in October 2017. 4. 2021–2023: The UN General Assembly re-elected Ukraine on 13 October 2020. Positions on the 47-nation Human Rights Council are allocated to the UN’s regional groups to ensure geographical representation. And for the second year in a row, all regional groups put forward the exact number of candidates for available seats for the three-year term, resulting in uncontested races. “This uncompetitive vote makes a mockery of the word ‘election’,” said Louis Charbonneau, UN director at Human Rights Watch. “No one should have a seat on this crucial body handed to them on a silver platter”, Charbonneau said. It’s not the only reason why the Council is regularly criticized. Another example of controversy has been Iran: it was unanimously elected by consensus as the chair of the UNHRC Asia-Pacific Group in January 2025. Ali Bahraini, Iran’s ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva, was appointed to chair the 2023 UNHRC Social Forum. And yet it’s good that Ukraine is elected to the Council including to oppose the anti-human rights forces in it. It’s important to remind that on April 7, 2022 Ukraine initiated a successful vote in the General Assembly to boot out Russia from the Human Rights Council. Prior to the vote, I urged countries to support the resolution. “Bucha and dozens of other Ukrainian cities and villages, where thousands of peaceful residents have been killed, tortured, raped, abducted and robbed by the Russian Army, serve as an example of how dramatically far the Russian Federation has gone from its initial declarations in the human rights domain. That is why this case is unique and today’s response is obvious and self-explanatory.”

The International Olympic Committee isn’t an intergovernmental organization. Instead the IOC is registered as a private, not-for-profit international non-governmental organization organized as an association under Swiss Law (specifically under Articles 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code). Basically in today’s world the IOC is money collecting and distributing machine. As it appears with no moral engagement or constraints. There are currently two active representatives from Ukraine serving as Members of the International Olympic Committee: Valeriy Borzov and Sergii Bubka. From Ukraine but not representing the government of Ukraine or required to coordinate their position with the government. The IOC is currently led by a former minister in the government of Zimbabwe, a country that voted against practically all resolutions of UNGA in support of territorial integrity of Ukraine. The EU provides variable financial support to International Olympic Committee via multiple European Commission grants, educational initiatives, and collaborative development schemes. Erasmus+ Programme: This is the primary vehicle for EU sports funding. The IOC and its affiliate entities, like the European Olympic Committees (EOC) EU Office, secure grants for grassroots sports development, social inclusion, and dual-career programs for athletes. In light of a provisional decision of the IOC to return warmongering Russia to Olympic Games on July 14, 2026, a coalition of nine EU member states (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and Sweden) formally petitioned the European Commissioner for Sport, Glenn Micallef, to completely cut off the IOC and other complicit sports bodies from Erasmus+ and all alternative EU funding programs.

Citizen Nebenzia, you are not a legitimate president of the Security Council, and I will never address you as one. You are sitting on the seat that Russia invaded illegally, and the only proper seat for you before you end up in hell bypassing purgatory is in the dock. And as for the Rule 37 of the Rules of Procedure that allows my invitation, there’s not a single word about the presidency, let alone about the invaders of the seats in this Chamber. 👇 “Rule 37 Any Member of the United Nations which is not a member of the Security Council may be invited, as the result of a decision of the Security Council, to participate, without vote, in the discussion of any question brought before the Security Council when the Security Council considers that the interests of that Member are specially affected, or when a Member brings a matter to the attention of the Security Council in accordance with Article 35 (1) of the Charter.” Any one sees the word “presidency”? At least once? You want to refer to “established practice”, that is not even mentioned in Rule 37? Then, guess what! I will never take lectures from an accomplice to war criminals whose boss openly reject rules aka practices while pretending to be a UN Charter “defender”. It’s impossible to stomach malarkey from Lavrov like this one, direct quote: “certain UN members to replace international law and the UN Charter with some “rules-based international order.” These mysterious “rules” have never been the subject of transparent international consultations, nor have they been laid out for everybody’s attention.” So much about the rules, and procedures by the invader of a UN permanent seat, and never the “president”! Surely a prisoner one day!

President Trump announced the preparation of his meeting with Putin in Alaska. Very far from this war that is going on on our land, against our people and which still cannot be ended without us, without Ukraine. Putin did not believe in our people and therefore made this hopeless decision of his to try to take Ukraine. This was his main mistake - to ignore the Ukrainians. I believe in our people. Ukrainians are strong. Ukrainians are defending their own. Many in the world sided with Ukraine during the war. Even those who are with Russia know that it is doing evil. Of course, we will not give Russia awards for what it has done. The Ukrainian people deserve peace. But all partners must understand what a dignified peace is. This war must be ended, and Russia must end it. Russia started it and is dragging it out, not listening to any deadlines, and this is the problem, not something else. The answer to the Ukrainian territorial issue is already in the Constitution of Ukraine. No one will and cannot back down from this. Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier. Ukraine is ready for real solutions that can bring peace. Any solutions that are against us, any solutions that are without Ukraine, are simultaneously solutions against peace. They will not bring anything. These are dead solutions. They will never work. And we all need a real, living peace that people will respect. We are ready, together with President Trump, together with all our partners, to work for a real and, most importantly, lasting peace - a peace that will not collapse because of Moscow's wishes.
