So I played an hour of Elden Ring. I mean I knew what I was getting myself into, but JEEZUS... Also you can tell this is my first FromSoft game, because I have no idea what the hell I am doing. I'll try playing more but there's a reason I can never get into these type of games.

Combat so far doesn't feel great. It really is just mashing square. Spider-Man is kind of the same thing, but at least he's quick and nimble, which made combat feel more free flowing. Here, it feels heavy and clunky. Also the camera is so bad, it makes it hard to keep focus.

Memes aside, Xenoblade Chronicles really does have some of the best English voice acting you're ever gonna find in any Nintendo game. Huge props to whoever was in charge of the voice directing. And to the cast for such brilliant performances, especially Adam Howden as Shulk.

It took A LOT of trial and error, but I FINALLY defeated my first boss in Elden Ring. Margit, the Fell Omen. Granted, I did have to use a lot of assistance and just pure luck to put him away. Thank you, ashes. Gotta say, the bosses in Elden Ring look pretty kickass.

Finally learned how to dual-wield in Elden Ring and wow this feels SO MUCH BETTER! To be honest, I didn't know how to feel at first about the attacks being locked to the shoulder buttons. But after playing this game for a while, it makes more sense to me now.

I defeated Leonine Misbegotten, my second boss in Elden Ring! It took me a few tries, but once I figured out the patterns, he was far easier to deal with than Margit. Now I get why people consider him a tutorial boss, he's meant to teach you the fundamentals of dodging.

I don't know what's more amazing, the fact that Nintendo managed to get the entire main cast of Xenoblade Chronicles back to voice new lines. Or the fact that Reyn's VA sounds almost the exact same after having not voiced him for nearly 15 YEARS. It's like he never left.

Okay, so I played some more Elden Ring. Spent the past 3-4 hours just wandering the world and grinding some runes. I'm starting to understand things a tiny bit better. I'm sure this is still surface level stuff, but I do feel like I'm improving a bit compared to last night.
