A deeply saddening incident that reflects poorly on us as a society An elderly woman, who has forgotten even her own name and address, was found sitting alone on a pavement in Bhubaneswar. Some concerned passersby alerted the PCR, and the Bhubaneswar Police responded promptly and reached the spot immediately. If she was accidentally separated from her family, it is unfortunate and understandable. But if she was deliberately abandoned on the roadside by someone, it is truly shameful and heartbreaking. Appreciation to the Bhubaneswar Police for their swift and humane response. Hopefully, she will soon be reunited with her family members. #Odisha

Paid ₹1,000 for Illegal Parking Parking on the stretch from Vani Vihar Sq to IDBI Square has been prohibited by BMC. Today, I was fined ₹1,000 for violating the rule after parking my car in front of the Manyavar showroom near Rupali Square. I accepted my mistake and paid the fine without any objection. But my question to BMC: At any given time of the day, hundreds of vehicles are parked on that road in front of Kalyan Jewellers, Pantaloons, Manyavar, H&M, Khimji showrooms Is BMC collecting this ₹1,000 fine from every vehicle that is illegally parked there, or is the enforcement selective? Can BMC clarify these rules for the benefit of everyone? If this rule applies to all, why aren't all illegally parked vehicles being towed to the multi-level parking facility? I was also surprised when the person collecting the fine called me on my phone to ask me to come there. He told me that the traffic police had shared my phone number with him. How was my personal contact information shared, and under what authority? My humble request to Mayor Sulochana Das and BMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil is to clearly communicate the parking rules and ensure they are enforced uniformly. If parking is prohibited on the stretch from Vani Vihar Square to IDBI Square, then the rule should be applied consistently so that no vehicle is allowed to park there--without exception. Uniform enforcement, not selective action, is what ensures fairness and public confidence.

Election Petition Emerges as Common Link Between Former MLA Bikram Panda and Former Mayor Pintu Das in Pitabas Panda Murder Case: SP BERHAMPUR While revealing the motive behind the Pitabas Panda murder case, the Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M today stated that investigators have uncovered a political connection between former MLA Bikram Panda and former Mayor Pintu Das, revolving around an election petition. "Politically, an election petition was filed on May 19, 2024, against the sitting MLA of Berhampur," the SP said during a press conference. "The petition was filed in the name of a helper who works at Pintu Das’s residence. In reality, it was filed by Pintu Das himself", SP said. The SP further revealed that the legal expenses and advocate fees for pursuing the election petition were being borne by Bikram Panda. "The understanding between them was that if the MLA were disqualified as a result of the petition, Bikram Panda would contest the Assembly seat in the by-election, and using his influence through corporators, he would help make Pintu Das the Mayor," the SP explained.
