The state will not finance these things, neither the event called CPAC nor other related institutions such as the Mathias Corvinus Collegium and similar attached bodies. I believe the state should never have financed them in the first place, it was a crime. Mixing party financing with government spending from the state budget is, in my view, a criminal offense, and this will have to be investigated by the future authorities, including the National Office for the Recovery and Protection of Public Assets, since those budgetary funds were not meant to finance party events. CPAC is welcome to come to Budapest, very welcome, but it should not be financed with Hungarian taxpayers’ money. It should be funded by Fidesz, or by Orbán’s proxies, at least until that money is taken back.

This was called a terrorist attack a little over 24 years ago. The United States invoked Article 5, and every ally, including Ukraine, showed up to fight an American war without hesitation. Now the same thing is happening in Ukraine. Russian drones are deliberately flown into high rise apartment buildings, and suddenly it is dismissed. “Not our war.” “Go pick up a rifle if you care.” “You support Ukronazis.” The moral clarity evaporates the moment Americans are not the ones being bombed.

This fucking idiot stood at the G7 summit, surrounded by world leaders trying to maintain some shred of unity amid war, economic instability, and geopolitical chaos, and somehow managed to blame Justin Trudeau for Russia getting kicked out of the G8 in 2014. That’s not just wrong, it’s aggressively dumb. Trudeau wasn’t even prime minister back then, Stephen Harper was. The decision wasn’t made by one or two people either. It was a unanimous action by all G7 nations after Russia invaded and annexed Crimea. But Trump, in his usual fact-optional style, needed to turn a complex, multilateral diplomatic response into a cartoon villain story starring Obama and Trudeau. Why? Because he can’t go five minutes without sucking up to Putin or throwing punches at liberal leaders he resents. It’s lazy, dishonest, and painfully embarrassing on the world stage. Instead of backing Western allies against authoritarian aggression, he makes up history to kiss the ass of a dictator and insult the host of the fucking summit.

Sheriff Chris Swanson, the elected Sheriff of Genesee County, Michigan, is a career law-enforcement officer, not a pundit. He became nationally known in 2020 for prioritizing de-escalation during protests. What he says about the Minneapolis shooting directly exposes how bad MAGA-era policing policies fail. Swanson calls the shooting tragic but predictable. Masked federal agents in unmarked vehicles confronted a 37-year-old woman, gave unclear commands, and then fired three shots as her car was backing up and turning away. The agent who fired was not hit, not run over, and not in the vehicle’s path. Two shots were fired as the car was already driving away. That is not lawful deadly force. That is bad policy producing bad outcomes. Swanson is blunt about the force continuum. You do not shoot people who are fleeing. You do not shoot when you are not in danger. “Tough on crime” slogans do not override use-of-force standards, no matter how loudly MAGA politicians repeat them. What follows is worse. After the woman was shot and crashed, Swanson saw no attempt at life-saving aid. No urgency. No trauma response. He contrasts this with his own deputies, who once returned fire on a suspect who had already killed two people, then immediately tried to save his life anyway. That is professional policing. What happened in Minneapolis was not. He also points to missing body cams and officers leaving the scene instead of securing it for investigation. These are not accidents. They are the results of policies that reward aggression and optics over training and accountability. Swanson makes one thing clear. Calling this out is not anti-police. Blind loyalty is what damages law enforcement. Accountability is what protects it.

Some Americans are going to lose their shit over this. After 13 years in Europe, he realized the US model he was taught to idolize is far less free in practice: daily gun fear, unaffordable healthcare, car-dependent cities, weak worker rights, high costs, and political dysfunction. Europe gave him walkable neighborhoods, safe streets, universal healthcare, stronger consumer protections, better food standards, real worker rights, and a government that can actually pass laws. The quality of life shift was so dramatic he no longer sees the US as the benchmark, just a place where people accept hardship as “freedom.”

Like I said yesterday. Ex-FBI agent Stu Kaplan stated that ICE agents are bound by Customs and Border Protection use-of-force policy, which explicitly prohibits placing oneself in front of or behind a moving vehicle, except during limited inspection scenarios. He said this policy exists precisely because people may flee during stops. He argued the agent violated that policy by stepping into the vehicle’s path, thereby manufacturing an exigent circumstance. In Kaplan’s view, the danger was created by the officer’s own actions, not by an intentional attack by the driver. Kaplan emphasized that flight is foreseeable and legally anticipated behavior during law-enforcement encounters. Courts, including the Supreme Court, have recognized that officers must plan for the possibility of flight rather than positioning themselves in a way that turns flight into a deadly-force scenario. He noted that the video shows the driver attempting to turn away, not drive toward the agent, and that the agent began drawing his weapon immediately as the car moved, despite having placed himself in harm’s way. Absent evidence that the woman posed an immediate violent threat such as a prior violent felony or an attempt to use the car as a weapon, Kaplan said deadly force was not justified to stop a fleeing suspect for what appeared to be, at most, misdemeanor conduct. His conclusion was that, despite being strongly pro-law-enforcement, this incident may constitute a “bad shoot” because the officer violated policy and then relied on a danger he helped create to justify lethal force.

Magyar is calling for a new, fair election in Vas County’s 02 district after what he says was a seriously manipulated result. In a video on his official channel, Péter Magyar lays out the case that the seat was effectively won through deliberate deception. He claims Fidesz MP Péter Ágh benefited from a tactic designed to confuse voters. A “decoy candidate” with the exact same name, Péter Magyar, was put on the ballot despite not even living in the district and regularly showing up at Fidesz events. That candidate pulled in 909 votes, which is a lot more than the 258 vote gap by which the Tisza Party’s candidate, Viktória Strompová, ended up losing. He also notes that police confirmed on April 9 that a criminal investigation has been opened into suspected election fraud, specifically around how recommendation signatures were collected for the decoy candidate and others. Magyar calls the whole thing a cynical abuse of power and says Ágh should show some basic integrity by refusing to take the mandate. He’s pushing for a rerun of the election, arguing that people in North Vas deserve proper representation, not a result shaped by tricks like this. He also tells Strompová to hold her head high and step up as the real representative of those voters.
