As you strive to push new limits in deepening your conversion, you too may be subjected to inhospitable environments, severe temperatures, and extreme pressure. Putting on “the whole armour of God” will allow you to “stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11) and enhance your ability to stand firm in life’s inevitable spiritual battles.

Have you ever stood at an empty airport luggage return carousel, as it circles endlessly, wondering if your bag somehow was diverted to Kathmandu? Have you ever been told the last known location of your checked bag was somewhere between “It is sure to turn up somewhere” and “You should consider buying everything new”? Have you ever been ghosted by a suitcase that contained essential materials for a critical presentation? If so, this message might interest you. #GeneralConference

This morning, I described how blessed it is to be a peacemaker and how peacemaking begins in the most basic place: in our hearts, then in homes and families. As we practice there, peacemaking will spread into our neighborhoods and communities. Peacemakers are sometimes labeled naive or weak from all sides. Yet, to be a peacemaker is not to be weak, but to be strong in a way the world may not understand.

We have commenced a decade that may prove to be as momentous as any that has followed the unparalleled founding decade of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints almost two centuries ago. Upcoming moments will provide members of the Church everywhere with increased opportunities to share the glad tidings of the gospel of Jesus Christ through word and deed.

Although the pressures felt by the rising generation differ from those of the young person in Galilee, Jesus Christ’s teachings still apply today: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9). Today, peacemaking still begins in the most basic place—in our hearts. Then in homes and families. As we practice there, peacemaking will spread into our neighborhoods and communities.

When it comes to deepening our conversion to Jesus Christ, we can always go deeper. We shouldn’t compare the depth of our conversion to reaching the bottom of the swimming pool. Our potential to deepen our conversion to Jesus Christ is greater than the vastness of the ocean or the expanse of outer space. When we “launch out into the deep” (Luke 5:4), we will be amazed at the extent of our Savior’s love for us.

I was grateful to be joined by a few of our wonderful missionaries at the Provo Missionary Training Center recently as we discussed how missionary work—and all work in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. How grateful I am to be involved in sharing the Savior’s gospel with our missionaries across the globe.

All of us have experienced challenges and afflictions as part of mortality. We are reminded, “And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours” (Doctrine and Covenants 78:18).

Yesterday I had the privilege of joining wonderful friends in Kansas City for a Light the World Giving Machine event. What an inspiring reminder of the power of simple acts of kindness! Last year, more than 850,000 people visited Giving Machines around the world, purchasing 450,000 items to bless those in need. These efforts reflect the heart of the Light the World initiative, which is rooted in the Savior’s words: “I am the light of the world.” His light was never meant to be admired from afar—it was meant to be shared. Thank you to everyone who continues to bring Jesus Christ’s light to the world, one act of love at a time.

Standing at the graveside of one of my great-great-grandfathers, Edward Stevenson, I feel joy and wonder of one day being able to see, visit, and associate with my ancestors. This is all possible because of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and His Atonement. #GreaterLove

The visual identifier for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—a representation of Albert Bertel Thorvaldsen’s beloved marble "Christus" statue—reflects the truth that Jesus Christ is at the center of His Church and should be at the center of our lives. We truly celebrate the resurrected, living Christ, even in the use of the Church symbol. #GeneralConference #GreaterLove

Since I’ve been in Uruguay, I’ve noticed that the song “Gethsemane” is a favorite for these members. We’ve had three different meetings in which this has been sung by three different choirs. It’s a beautiful song, isn’t it? As we think about the words that memorialize and honor Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer, it draws our hearts closer to Him.

In the southernmost tip of South America stands the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, a famous landmark found in the capital of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago—Ushuaia, Argentina. This city is often referred to as the “end of the world.” I visited this place during my time in South America for the 100-year celebration of the preaching of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on this continent.
