Builder Booked as Gachibowli Building Tilt Sparks Panic and Demolition in Hyderabad The Madhapur police have registered a case against builder Srinu, also known as Kalvakolu Srinu, after a four-storey building in Gachibowli’s Siddiqui Nagar tilted dangerously on Tuesday night, causing panic among residents. The builder has been accused of negligence for digging pits next to the building without proper precautions, leading to its instability. The complaint was filed by GHMC City Planner Venkataramana, who held Srinu accountable for the unsafe excavation work. In response, authorities began demolishing the tilted building on Wednesday morning, with GHMC and HYDRAA officials stating that the process would be completed within hours to prevent further risks. The building, constructed just two years ago, had all its occupants evacuated safely on Tuesday night. The owner, Swapna, blamed the neighboring builder for the incident. “We sold our farm and took a loan to build this house. Now it’s being demolished because of someone else’s negligence. I accept the demolition to avoid risks, but what about compensation? What will happen to my children if we lose everything?” she questioned, demanding accountability from the adjacent property owner. #Hyderabad #Madhapur

Hyderabad-Based Call Centre Dupes US Citizens; Telangana Cyber Security Bureau Busts Racket A Hyderabad-based call centre involved in defrauding US citizens was busted by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) following a raid at a Madhapur building on Wednesday evening. According to TGCSB Director Shikha Goel, the operation was led by Kaivan Patel and Rupesh Kumar alias Jaddhu from Gujarat, with assistance from Rupesh’s brother Vickey, based in Dubai, and another associate, Azad. The prime suspect, Chanda Manasvini (36), had established a company, Exito Solutions, and rented a floor in the building to run the call centre, which employed 63 people, including 40 from Northeastern states. Employees were offered a monthly salary of ₹30,000, along with transportation and accommodation. The scam involved tele-callers posing as PayPal representatives, falsely informing US citizens of unauthorized transactions in their accounts. Victims were tricked into sharing sensitive information, which was then used to siphon funds into designated bank accounts. Each caller was tasked with duping at least 10 people daily, targeting an average of 600 victims, leading to the theft of thousands of dollars. The stolen money was later converted into cryptocurrency and transferred to other digital wallets. Authorities believe some individuals provided PayPal customer data to Chanda Manasvini, enabling the fraud. “All tele-callers were fluent in English and trained to manipulate victims. They were aware their activities were illegal,” said an official. During the raid, police seized 52 laptops, 63 mobile phones, and 27 employee identity cards. Efforts are underway to apprehend Rupesh Kumar for further investigation into the network. #Hyderabad #Cybercrime

Hydraa’s Claim Upheld in Bathukamma Kunta Case: City Civil Court Delivers Landmark Verdict In a significant legal victory for the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa), the City Civil Court on Tuesday upheld the agency’s claim in the Bathukamma Kunta case, rejecting private ownership claims over the Lake. The court dismissed the civil suit filed by Yedla Sudhakar Reddy, who had asserted that Bathukamma Kunta was not a pond and that the land belonged to him. The verdict came after a detailed trial that lasted nearly a month. City Civil Court Judge M. Venkateswara Rao ruled in favour of Hydraa, validating its stand with the support of revenue records, village maps, satellite imagery, and Survey of India documentation. Hydraa’s legal team, supported by HMDA and GHMC standing counsels, presented evidence establishing Bathukamma Kunta as a water body. The court’s ruling paves the way for resumption of pond restoration efforts, which had stalled due to the legal dispute. Hydraa Commissioner A.V. Ranganath welcomed the verdict and congratulated the legal team, including standing counsels K. Anilkumar, S. Srinivas, B. Ajay, Government Advocate B. Janardhan, Inspector Mohan, and legal advisor Srinivas and his associates. The Bathukamma Kunta project is one of six urban lakes being restored under the guidance of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, with funding support from HMDA. ⸻ Restoration Work Started in February Hydraa began development of Bathukamma Kunta on February 18. During initial excavation, groundwater emerged almost immediately, reaffirming the site’s status as a live water body. The agency’s records showed that, as per the 1962–63 survey, Bathukamma Kunta in Survey No. 563 of Bagh Amberpet originally covered 14.06 acres, with a total of 16.13 acres including the buffer zone. Due to encroachments, it had shrunk to just 5.15 acres. Following local appeals, Hydraa initiated restoration without disturbing existing residential areas. #hydraa #Hyderabad #lakes

Public Roads, HMWSSB hire tankers for rain effect, Private Shoots — Who Gave the Nod? This evening at T Hub in Knowledge City, a busy city road was effectively taken over by a film crew from 8.45 pm till late night. What exactly was being shot was unclear; some said an ad, others called it a “concept shoot”; but the result was unmistakable: a key stretch of road was blocked, one entire side rendered unusable. The Raidurgam traffic police later said permission had been granted only from 9 pm to 12 midnight. The shoot began earlier. That is a violation. But the larger question goes beyond timing. The traffic inspector also said that shooting permissions are being given only on weekends, and that too after 9 pm and restricted to the 9 pm–12 midnight window, preferably on holidays or when office movement is low. Even if this is the stated policy, it still does not answer the core issue: why permit road blockages at all on busy urban stretches that remain active well into the night? Why are permissions being granted for film or ad shoots on city roads? Are Hyderabad’s roads meant for the public—or have they quietly become convenient sets for private productions? At a time when even peaceful, democratic protests are denied permission citing “law and order” or “traffic inconvenience,” how does blocking a road for a private shoot—weekend or not pass muster? There was also visible use of water at the location to create a rain effect, with HMWSSB hire tanker vehicles present and the road left wet. On this, GM Krishna of the Hyderabad water utility clarified that no official request was received for booking water tankers, and no tanker was supplied officially for the shoot. He said that due to low demand, hire vehicles associated with the utility may have sourced water independently—possibly borewell water—from outside and used it at the site. Even so, he made it clear that hire vehicles linked to the water utility are not permitted to be used for film shooting purposes, irrespective of the source of water. He said the matter would be examined and action would be taken if rules were violated. That clarification narrows the issue—but it does not close it. Whether it is drinking water or borewell water, large quantities of water sprayed on public roads for private shoots raise questions—about permissions, oversight, and basic priorities. Public roads are not studios, and civic infrastructure should not be casually pressed into service for cinematic effects without clear rules and accountability. Let’s be clear: •City roads are not private sets. •Weekend or holiday permissions do not justify public inconvenience. Even if permissions are restricted to late nights or holidays, blocking roads should not be the default option. Clear directions are needed to ensure that shoots do not disrupt traffic, begin outside permitted hours, or use civic-linked resources—directly or indirectly—without authorisation. Until these are answered, citizens will continue to bear the inconvenience for someone else’s “shot.” #Hyderabad #filmshooting HMWSSB Cyberabad Traffic Police

Four Indians, Including Two from Hyderabad, Killed in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash in Texas; DNA Fingerprinting to Identify Charred Bodies A tragic multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 75 in Anna, Texas, claimed the lives of four Indian nationals, including two from Hyderabad, on Friday afternoon. The collision occurred just past White Street at around 3:30 PM on Friday , according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office. The victims have been identified as Aryan Raghunath Orampati from Hyderabad, his friend Farooq Shaik, Lokesh Palacharla, also a Telugu, and Darshini Vasudevan from Tamil Nadu. The four victims had connected through a carpooling app for their journey to Bentonville, when the accident occurred. Aryan Raghunath Orampati, who resided in Bentonville, was returning home after visiting his cousin in Dallas. Lokesh Palacharla was traveling to Bentonville to visit his wife. Darshini Vasudevan, a Master’s degree graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington, was on her way to visit her uncle in Bentonville. The group had tied up their travel plans using a carpooling app, which later helped authorities identify the victims. Aryan’s father, Subhash Chandra Reddy, owns Max Agri Genetic Private Limited in Kukatpally, Hyderabad. The family originally hails from Rayachoti but has settled in Nizampet, Hyderabad. Aryan completed his engineering degree at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeethamnin Coimbatore. “parents were in the U.S. in May 2024 for his convocation at University of Texas Dallas. After convocation Aryan was asked to come back to India, but he told his parents that he wanted to work in the United States for two more years and then return. Fate has struck like this,” said a family member of Subhash. Farooq also lived in Bentonville where as Darshini lives in Frisco, Texas. Farooq was from Hyderabad BHEL. Masthan Vali father of Farooq Shaik said "For the past three years Farooq is in United States for his MS studies and completed recently. He completed his engineering in Vasavi College," Masan Vali is a retired private employee and family lives in BHEL Hyderabad. "We are originating from GUntur district but settled in Hyderabad. My daughter also lives in United States she is taking care of the sitaution" The collision, which involved approximately five vehicles, was triggered when a truck, reportedly traveling at high speed, failed to slow down and rear-ended the SUV the victims were traveling in. Witnesses reported that traffic had slowed significantly on the highway, causing vehicles to come to a standstill. The impact was so severe that the SUV burst into flames, leaving all four occupants trapped inside and unable to escape. Due to the intensity of the fire, the bodies were charred beyond recognition, making identification challenging. Authorities are relying on DNA fingerprinting, using teeth and bone remnants, to confirm the identities of the victims. “DNA fingerprinting will be done to identify the bodies, and the samples will be matched with the parents,” said local authorities. The delay in identification has been exacerbated by the long holiday weekend in the U.S., further prolonging the agony for the families involved. Darshini Vasudevan’s parents, who had been in regular contact with her until shortly before the crash, are now appealing for assistance from India’s Union External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar. “We parents are really worried, and it’s almost data since we’ve known the status of our daughter,” stated her father in a heartfelt appeal. The Anna Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene, diverting traffic to the access road as the highway remains shut down.
