Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA) Carotid Artery Disease, characterized by plaque buildup in the carotid arteries, can impede blood flow to the brain, increasing stroke risk. CEA involves surgically removing plaque deposits to restore proper blood flow and lower stroke risk. Credit: 加治正知 #CarotidEndarterectomy #StrokePrevention #VascularHealth

Corner Stitch (Half-Buried Horizontal Mattress Suture): The corner stitch is a common suture technique. It is used to close wounds that are angled or Y-shaped without appreciably compromising the blood supply to the wound tip. The corner stitch is a variation of the horizontal mattress stitch, sometimes called the "half-buried horizontal mattress stitch". The needle enters the skin on one side of the obtuse angle of the wound, passes through the deep dermis of the corner flap, and is re-inserted through the dermis of the other side of the obtuse wound angle. It finally re-emerges through the epidermis on the side of the obtuse angle, adjacent to the initial entry point. World’s First Clinically Available Microsurgical Robotic System. Microsure’s MUSA facilitates lymph node surgery and reconstruction of lymphatic vessels as small as 0.3 mm in diameter. It scales down movements and filters out tremors to increase precision in this delicate super microsurgical procedure, as well as decreasing the challenge and complexity of these types of interventions dramatically. The surgeon controls the system via joysticks while working in an ergonomically comfortable position. This allows better posture, and solving issues related to pain and fatigue. #robot #medical #tech #roboticsurgery #surgmedia

Cushing Suture Pattern: A rapid, continuous, and simple inverting suture technique commonly utilized for closing intestinal incisions. The suture bites are placed parallel to the incision line, ensuring that the suture does not penetrate the full thickness of the intestinal wall or enter the lumen. Cross Mattress Suture Technique (or Interrupted Cruciate Suture, Figure of Eight Suture, Cruciate Mattress Suture) , is a simple yet effective technique used to provide strong wound closure with excellent tension distribution. Ideal for skin and subcutaneous tissue, it combines the benefits of vertical mattress sutures with easier placement, minimizing tissue strangulation while everting the wound edges. Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) For Throat Cancer Laryngeal cancer or Throat cancer is a kind of cancer that can develop in any part of the larynx. It is typically a squamous-cell carcinoma, reflecting its origin from the epithelium of the larynx. The prognosis is affected by the location of the tumour. For the purposes of staging, the larynx is divided into three anatomical regions: the glottis (true vocal cords, anterior and posterior commissures); the supraglottis (epiglottis, arytenoids and aryepiglottic folds, and false cords); and the subglottis. Most laryngeal cancers originate in the glottis, with supraglottic and subglottic tumours being less frequent. Credit: Dr. Abie Mendelsohn / MD, FACS #MedEd #Robotics #Medical #Cancer
