A Rescue reached the site within minutes, securing ropes across the collapsed bridge and commencing rescue operations over the fast-flowing stream. Demonstrating courage, teamwork and commitment, the column successfully facilitated the safe movement of more than 300 locals and tourists stranded at the location. The rescue operation continued for over 07 hours, reaffirming the #IndianArmy’s unwavering commitment to stand by communities in times of need. Under the close supervision and proactive guidance of Commander, #VictoryForCertain Bde, a swift and synergised firefighting response was launched, involving troops of the #VictoryForCertain Bde, Air Force Station Kasauli, Cantonment Board Kasauli and Civil Fire Tenders. For over 16 hours, ground columns battled the flames along Gilbert Trail, Shourya Marg and adjoining areas, preventing further spread and safeguarding critical heritage zones. The air effort by #IndianAirForce Mi-17 helicopters, through effective Bambi Bucket sorties, proved decisive in containing the blaze. All personnel and equipment are safe. No loss of civilian or combatant life has been reported. Inputs from the CO have been received reassuring the citizens of Army’s continued efforts to rescue all survivors. Additional Army columns along with Army tracker dogs, drones, logistic drones, earthmoving equipment, etc have been moved ahead to supplement the resources at Harsil to hasten the efforts. Army and Airforce helicopters for essential supplies, medicines and evacuation of the marooned are also being coordinated. Violence Against Soldier at Meerut Toll Plaza On 17 August 2025, at around 2000 hrs, at Bhuni toll plaza, Meerut, a soldier posted in Srinagar while returning to duty, was beaten by workers of the Toll Plaza. #IndianArmy strongly condemns such incident against a serving soldier. Highest authorities of #UttarPradesh Police have been approached to bring the guilty to books. FIR has since been lodged under BNS for attempt to Murder, unlawfully assembly and Robbery. Six arrests have been made by the Police so far. Protest has also been registered with NHAI about the incident to take departmental action against the culprits and institute measures to prevent any reocurrence. #IndianArmy remains committed to ensure justice and will pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
