When members assemble for an event as momentous as the 23rd ZANU PF National People's Conference, the expectation is singular and solemn: to articulate policy, to outline programmes, and to chart the developmental trajectory. It is not, and has never been, a forum for the exhumation of settled matters or the resurrection of staid grievances long disposed of by the Party through appropriate channels. For the Party, the Conference is a strategic pedestal, a showcase to the nation and the world of a united, disciplined, and progressive revolutionary movement. Outside Congress, it is the highest theatre of ideological clarity and purpose. It is therefore alarming, how at a time when the country is registering positive indicators as so demonstrated by President Mnangagwa's address which focused on production and development, one could craft a speech so corrosive and so discordant with the national mood as that read by VP Chiwenga. Such a contradiction in messaging from the Presidency itself raises serious questions of discipline and coordination. If indeed it is Charamba penning speeches that fundamentally contradict each other from the same Presidency, then he has ceased to be an asset and has become a constant and existential danger to the coherence of the State. If he is not, the team around VP Chiwenga must be held culpable and be reconstituted for the sheer dereliction of allowing such a shocking and ill-timed diatribe on a platform engineered for unity and developmental focus. President Mnangagwa was exemplary. His was a mature, measured and modernist speech anchored on national development, economic consolidation and livelihoods. That is what the people, true owners of the Party are interested in. Not theatrical genuflections in public over matters that have already been addressed by the appropriate organs, and which, if they still require ventilation, have alternative and more appropriate internal platforms from which to be addressed. It is precisely such theatrics that provoke some of us to posit that if one finds himself so irreconcilably at odds with the prevailing order, would not honour demand that he, as a matter of principle, stand down?

I'm leading a business delegation to Iran, Zimbabwe-Iran Business Forum. We continue working for the country building on the bilateral agreements with Iran focusing on technology and agriculture despite the war. Zimbabwe and Iran signed 12-17 MoUs in 2023-2024 under their Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) when Presidents Mnangagwa and the late Ebrahim Raisi met, aiming to grow bilateral trade from about US$30 million to US$500 million per year. The deals cover agriculture, mining, energy, pharmaceuticals, science and technology and tourism. In health, NatPharm is already working with Iranian firms on local drug manufacturing after Zimbabwe received its first consignment of Iranian medicines in 2024, with a new focus on medical tourism. In agriculture, Iran's tractor maker is partnering with local firm MAKA Holdings to set up a tractor plant in Zimbabwe, and tobacco and cigarette manufacturing is planned to supply the Iranian market. Other cooperation includes space technology, energy and fertilizer, plus a ZimTrade MoU with Iran's Trade Promotion Organisation and a plan agreed in December 2025 to set up a Zimbabwe-Iran Business Council. Zimbabweans now get 15 days visa-free entry to Iran for tourism. Implementation was reviewed at the 9th Mid-Term Review of the JPCC in Tehran on 10 December 2025 and at a Trade and Investment Conference in Harare in February 2025, where both sides agreed to expedite joint projects. The target is however threatened by the US announcement in January 2026 of a 25% tariff on countries doing business with Iran.

I visited a barbershop in Mbare today for a trim and managed to interact with some young people there. They had various issues with Council and the bottom line is the City Fathers should be accountable. When they collect license fees from traders they should also provide commensurate services. Ngavasangwarire kupwanya zvinhu chete! Many City officials have been implicated in dodgy deals with citizens suffering yet no one has been arrested or fired at Council. That has to stop Mayor Mafume. There should be balance. The recent example of St Martins is especially telling. The victims had all the paperwork signed by bona fide Council officials. They even had building material being kept for them at Council offices. Yet, they had their houses demolished. If indeed the project was bogus why have the responsible Council signatories not been arrested or fired? Mayor of Harare, Jacob Mafume If citizens get value for their money through services they won't be the same challenges in getting them to do their part. It is a different case if money is perpetually collected and yet it simply disappears!

I was thrilled when Roseanna Hall from Shurugwi was crowned Miss Universe Zimbabwe on Saturday. It fills me with joy to see someone from my village succeed like this. I celebrated Shurugwi because it's essential to support our own. Now, she will represent our country at the international Miss Universe pageant. I'll actively campaign for her to get the support she needs. People like First Lady Mai Mnangagwa and business leaders like Zodwa and Tagwirei should step in to back her, ensuring her win has a real impact. She deserves a car and a house or stand for her achievement. I have already pledged to give her money because I always lead in giving before requesting from others. Roseanna continues the proud legacy of Shurugwi in producing great leaders and successful persons as she follows in the footsteps of notable figures like Gandire, Marungwe, Herbert Mahlaba, Tagwirei, and President Mnangagwa. We should organize a celebration for her achievement, and I will rally Shurugwi Town Council and other stakeholders to make it happen. While she represents us, we should leverage her influence to benefit both the town and the girl child. Congratulations to all participants; they put in a lot of effort. SaSabhuku, I was excited as it was my first time at a pageant, and to hear that Shurugwi won was incredible. Now makuona kuti hatisi maShurugwi emapanga chete!

Today I attended Dhlodhlo Primary School Speech and Prize Giving Day in Shurugwi. I was very impressed by one of the young girls who performed there and on top showed amazing etiquette. I have since requested that she be enrolled on the TPM Foundation Scholarship until she finishes University education.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the postponement of my 55th birthday celebrations, originally planned for 4 and 5 September at Spring Restaurant and Lodge. In the spirit of Ubuntu, we believe it is imperative to prioritize compassion and support during this time. One of my valued team members has encountered a serious situation and is currently hospitalized in critical condition. In light of this, we feel it would be inappropriate to proceed with our celebratory event while one of our own is in need. We have tentatively rescheduled the music bash for 3 October. Your understanding and support during this time mean a great deal to us. I kindly ask for your thoughts and prayers for our dear colleague, hoping for a swift recovery and return to good health. Thank you for your understanding. Warm regards.

We are off to Tanzania! As the Southern African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption (SAPNAC) we continue to represent SADC in the fight against corruption, because corruption remains one of the biggest threats to development and good governance in the region. It weakens institutions, undermines service delivery, and erodes public confidence in the state. For a long time we have relied on indices and assessments that are designed outside the continent, which do not always capture the realities and priorities of Africa. There is therefore a need for a different approach that is grounded in our own context. Our focus is to develop an Africa-driven anti-corruption index that is specifically focused on SADC. This will be an instrument developed from within, that reflects the governance challenges and aspirations of our member states, while still meeting international standards of credibility and measurement. To make this possible, we recognize that we cannot work in isolation. We need to work closely with academia to ensure that the index is research-based, methodologically sound, and backed by reliable data. We shall also work with parliamentarians across the region because they play a critical role in creating the legal and policy instruments that give effect to anti-corruption commitments. Ultimately, the objective is to build a homegrown tool that will help SADC member states assess progress, identify gaps, and strengthen collective action against corruption.

This video is pure ED. The man drops one calm sentence and suddenly half the country is doing mental gymnastics and reading between non-existent lines. He says “I’ll be there in 9 years.” Translation: I’ll be alive. Reaction: National crisis meeting. The real limitation isn’t in the statement. It’s in us, for treating an innocent line like a constitutional amendment. ED is smart, as he has already shown over the past years, and he continues dropping jokers and getting many people into confusion. Same story with Victoria Falls. Yes, you can visit from the Zambian side, just like you can also watch a movie on your phone. But if you want the IMAX experience as a tourist, you come to the Zimbabwe side where you experience its real face. That’s just geography, not politics! Even Robert Mugabe International Airport got the memo, hence the facelift. First impressions matter, and Harare decided to wear its good shirt as the Gvt renovated the place to provide the best face for the country. So when the President says we have the best view of Vic Falls, he’s not starting a war. He’s stating a geographical fact. The noise that follows just tells you how polarised we are as a nation. We’ve reached the point where some people would argue with a map if they don’t like who’s holding it. We do have the best part of the Falls. Simple. True. The President should forgive us because we’re just too busy being offended to accept simple facts. It’s like the many lay men who still refuse to admit that the economy has improved, yet even the World Bank says it has. IMF World Economic Outlook estimates Zimbabwe grew 7.5% in 2025 and projects 5% in 2026. According to the World Bank Group Zimbabwe’s economic growth averaged almost six per cent between 2021 and 2025 and local-currency inflation fell to single digits in early 2026, the first time this has happened since 1997. Against all this you still get arguments to the contrary. ED knows the kind of people we have become and when he drops these kinds of bars he knows his audience. As it is they have indeed jumped on the statement!

The passing away of Cde Matemadanda is an immense loss not only across our nation but also profoundly impacts the ZANU PF party and us, his Shumba kinsmen to whom he was a brother. He was a true titan of modern Zimbabwean history, pivotal in the establishment of the Second Republic. The narrative surrounding Restore Legacy cannot be articulated without acknowledging his name. Alongside Cde Mahiya, they stood as exemplary leaders, real 5-Star Generals who masterminded this monumental initiative by personally leading from the front. It is easy for some to misconstrue our recognition of these figures as diminishing those they elevate; however, we possess an intimate understanding of the complex dynamics at play during that period, allowing us to identify the true heroes. Matemadanda and other War Veterans, was undeniably one of them. He encountered formidable opposition, enduring the threat of losing his farm and getting arrested fronting the project at a time it was very perilous. At one point I took the responsibility of securing legal representation for him and other arrested War Veterans. My victory in Norton was, in many ways, a testament to the unwavering efforts of these War Veterans, who worked tirelessly to forge the first Constituency aligned with ED. Cde Muwoni, as Chairman of the War Veterans Association, was entrusted with spearheading the campaigns for that pivotal seat in the Province. The triumph there marked a significant milestone in the broader endeavor that ultimately ushered forth the Second Republic. Our journey in these treaches has been long and arduous, and we will not allow ourselves to be misled into accepting heroes that have been superficially contrived. We were eye-witnesses to the events that unfolded behind the scenes. The Second Republic did not emerge from the Army or some other external force but rather from the steadfast resolve of the War Veterans. I was even given the mandate to engage the opposition in pursuit of a united front. Thus, when we speak of the true foot soldiers of the Second Republic, we affirm our knowledge of their identities. Many of the presently lauded figures were, in truth, latecomers to the cause, arriving only poto yatodziya kare. It is unfortunate that, within the realm of politics, those who resort to deceit often find themselves in positions of success due to their perceptive understanding of what to articulate. Meanwhile, those who value sincerity and hard work frequently struggle to navigate the treacherous landscape. Mandirwadzisa Shumba, my dear brother. When we used to meet in Mozambique, he often expressed his fervent desire to serve our nation and our party in support of ED. The last time I reached out to him, he was diligently laboring in Tete to ensure the repatriation of our fallen heroes. What a remarkable man, what a true hero. May he rest in eternal peace.

After CAA3 what else remains than to work for national development in unison with the ruling party. China has become global giant while essentially operating with one political party. Its the perfect case study showing that the Western model of democracy is not a divine order.
