Huawei just unveiled a new microchip that will help shape the future of the smartphone industry—but one of the most interesting moments from the launch had nothing to do with benchmarks or specifications. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG, delivered his keynote in Chinese. Then, for one sentence, he deliberately switched to English: “Kirin 9050 Pro. Super fast, super Live smart, super cool! There is no way someone can stand here and not be inspired by how much China has changed in the past 3 decades 🤯 There is not another city on the planet that has transformed the way Shenzhen has, once a fishing village of 25,000 people, it’s now home to 18 million people and the hub of tech and innovation in China 🇨🇳 This is the DJI headquarters, that’s right, the company that has emerged as the number one drone company in the world is based in this building Over 8,000 employees spread across offices, R&D Centers and testing facilities. This is honestly one of the most impressive buildings I’ve ever seen The British Trade Minister just visited Shenzhen for the FIRST time in 40 years last week and just think, how many politicians around the world could understand where China is and where it is going if they simply came and saw the truth with their own eyes. To borrow a phrase from my friend and China insider Shaun Rein the next China is China! 🚀

Absolutely fascinating to see this sports complex in the heart of downtown Guangzhou. Came down here to shoot some hoops with my kids and this complex of 20 basketball courts is completely packed. Foreigners mixed in with local Chinese, enjoying this beautiful game and warm summer nights! Awesome to see this side of China that so many people in the West could never imagine 😃

Today I’m exploring one of China’s most rural villages, the Tianlong Tunpu Ancient Town 🇨🇳 This place is incredible! Some of the brightest minds and entrepreneurs from China are in this room, including the founder of DJI There is ZERO chance the US could ever decouple from China. 1/3 of the companies in attendance at CES are from 🇨🇳 Mandarin is spoken all over the convention floor and every Chinese entrepreneur I speak is optimistic about the future and not worried at all about a Trump presidency. Just drove over the Hua Jiang Grand Canyon Bridge, the world’s tallest bridge and this modern marvel is incredible! 🌉 It’s over 2,000 feet above the river down below and reduced a 2 hour drive down to 2 minutes. This bridge was built in only 3.5 years, on time and on budget 🇨🇳 I’m able to send this tweet as Huawei provides 5G network across China. US Politicians now moving to ban DJI drones from the US market for “national security threats” 🤯 DJI is the #1 drone manufacturer in the world 🌎 but sadly politics could potentially ban any future drones from being imported and possibly grounding current drones inside the 🇺🇸 You can’t make up how ridiculous US politicians have become against China. These drones of course have zero threat to national security. It’s incredible the success China’s Haidilao US has achieved in the US! This is China’s most famous hotpot restaurant and it has opened numerous outlets across the West coast of North America. From Vancouver to LA and here in San Diego where my family and I are spending the New Year holiday, always fun to visit Hai Di Lao! Amazing food and service! Brings back so many great memories of China 😃

Even the US State Department has a Level 3 Travel Advisory Warning for US Citizens stating: "Reconsider travel to Mainland China due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws, including in relation to exit bans, and the risk of wrongful detentions" The reality on the ground is much different. This was filmed yesterday. A group of young Chinese students approached me wanting a photo. I greeted them in Chinese but then switched to English as they wanted to practice English and I also want everyone to hear and understand their exact words: "We think America is good. We think American people are good. We want to be your friends." I've been traveling to China for 17 years. This has been the ONLY reaction I've ever had from Chinese locals. Chinese people love America and they love Americans. In reality, China welcomes ALL foreigners and the country remains an incredible place to travel, visit, and live. Don't let the media tell you what to think. Keep an open mind and go experience life for yourself.

She is speaking in her local dialect that I and the local Guizhou people do not understand, although she mixes in a little bit of Mandarin here and there! I love getting outside the major cities and coming to parts of China that few foreigners ever see!

The United States has the most corrupt, profit driven medical industry in the world and generally speaking, the majority of Americans are overweight and unhealthy. Love to see practical uses for AI that will result in real change for the people, but most importantly prolong people's health and allow doctors to do their jobs better in the future 👇

To understand China, you need to get outside the major cities of Shanghai and Beijing and go explore the countryside to see how China’s government is transforming the 4th, 5th, and 6th tier cities One of the biggest differences between the Chinese government and others, is a real focus on improving the lives of Chinese people. That might sound like propaganda to some people, but if you actually do visit these small villages, you’ll see how technology and infrastructure are changing people’s lives and providing them a higher quality of life for the future I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to visit, explore and connect with China every year. This is one of the most fascinating countries in the world and I love sharing my travels and journeys through the Middle Kingdom 🇨🇳

This is the legendary Starbucks Founder Howard Schultz who has been traveling to China for 25+ years. Schultz said he is cautiously optimistic about the future of China, the Chinese economy, improved US/China relations but his main takeaway was something I've preached for many years 👇 "The Chinese people and the American people have much more in common than the differences we are lead to believe" The media does a great job at swaying US public opinion and making the average US citizen fear and even hate China. But this is why going to China and connecting with actual Chinese people shatters this narrative. At the end of the day, Chinese and Americans all want the same thing in life! Schultz concludes his video with a statement that is something I've preached for years: "The world would be in a much better shape if American and China can get along...the world would be a lot safer" There is no future for the world unless US and China learn to coexist and work together.
