This is the category that repeatedly comes under scrutiny...first, why isn't there a mandatory verification process before hiring a school van driver...in almost every news report I read, a perpetrator's past criminal record surfaces...we should mandate that no appointment can be made until a check of their past police record is completed. The second aspect is enforcement. If a bus is spotted on CCTV, perhaps with its curtains drawn, it should be stopped immediately... The third aspect is punishment. Without punishment, there is no fear of consequences...unless their source of income is suspended, that necessary fear will not be instilled...background checks must be mandatory. Bail granted to such individuals should always be conditional: if they commit another crime or come to adverse notice, their bail will be revoked..."

I have suggested the following to the ANI in the interview taken this forenoon. 1) shifting of venue of agitations to RamLila Ground (enuf space) Permissions only this. Even if peaceful assured. Connaught Place can be prevented from vandalism. 2) main reason is to keep away from Parliament House gates ( for national safety) 3) First and Second line of defence be Civil Defence and Women Police. Not the British colonial style of armed lathi charge police. 4) Riot police as a last resort not the first. Is there to respond on need basis. 5) use of drones linked with control rooms to see real life / live to record the actual acts of protestors and action of police too. 6) follow up of these identified (by tech based face recognition), miscreants with criminal records for cancellation of their bails and forfeiture of their sureities

Why can’t this happen in India? By this we don’t need to waste water on ROs and buy Plastic bottles. Every home could have clean water. We only need political will and bureaucracy to work together to do this in all States in India. We make it a national program. PMO India
