Elon Musk says smartphones won't exist in 5 years. "We're not going to have a phone in the traditional sense. What we call a phone will really be an edge node for AI inference, with some radios to obviously connect, but essentially you'll have AI on the server side communicating to an AI on your device." "There won't be operating systems, there won't be apps in the future. You've got a device that is there for the screen and audio to put as much AI on the device as possible so as to minimize the amount of bandwidth needed between your edge node device and the servers." "You'll get everything through AI. Whatever you can think of, or really whatever the AI can anticipate you can think of, it'll show you." "It's probably five or six years, something like that."

Sam Altman: Superintelligence probably by end of 2028, so we got roughly 2 years left. Enjoy your job while you still can. "A superintelligence, at some point on its development curve, would be capable of doing a better job being the CEO of a major company than any executive, certainly me, or doing better research than our best scientists." "On our current trajectory, we believe we may be only a couple of years away from early versions of true superintelligence. If we are right, by the end of 2028, more of the world's intellectual capacity could reside inside of data centers than outside of them." PS. The teenager who built Oculus VR in his garage, and sold it to Facebook for $2 billion, talks about the most uncomfortable argument about American manufacturing. "You cannot divorce innovation from the act of manufacturing. You make the stuff, that's where the innovation takes place." "We were not teaching engineers how to be engineers anymore. We're teaching them how to be high-level design shops that put together a design package that gets sent to the real engineers in China, and they actually figure out how to do the work." "They don't get 50% more for their dollar. They get like 10x for their dollar. Things that here would take a million dollars, you do there for $50,000, $100,000." "Their people are just genuinely extremely good. They have the world's best battery engineers, many of the world's best metallurgists, many of the world's best optical engineers." "The largest laptop manufacturer for the Pentagon is Lenovo, which is owned by China. Their headquarters has a flagpole with the CCP party flag and then the Lenovo logo under it. It's nuts." PS. Larry Ellison just explained why Tesla's AI has to work completely differently from every other AI system on earth: "If you're driving cars, things happen very fast. If something happens, you might be required to respond in a microsecond. You have to see it, understand what's going on, and take evasive action so there's no accident." Sending that decision to a remote server and waiting for a response takes too long. The physics don't allow it. "You can't afford the network traffic to go back across the network and talk to a computer, an AI model on a network that's far away. You need a very, very low latency response time." "All the Tesla cars, all the Tesla robots, have to have local compute in the car, local compute in the robot to make an immediate decision." PS. SpaceX Starship is so powerful it can destroy its own launchpad, SpaceX drains 2.4 million liters of water in one minute to prevent this. The water doesn't just cool things, it absorbs heat and acoustic energy by turning into steam through millions of tiny holes.

Mark Zuckerberg's morning routine isn't meditation or cold plunges, it's two hours of getting punched. Mark says the moment he checks his phone every morning, the frustration starts immediately. "I look at my phone and I'm just like, all these things that these people are doing, what are you fucking kidding me? It's like, I have to go fucking deal with this." "I compose myself and go fight for two hours, like, re-center myself. And then it's like, now I can go deal with the stuff."
