Is this how you deal with an adulterer who has come into your home to sleep with your wife? Does this not get the aggrieved more problems with the law; ie assault, abduction charges etc? How does the aggrieved deal with the real risk that there can be murder here? This however, is the most common method of punishment for this kind of offence in Zimbabwe and in Africa. This boy remains composed and calm under a barrage of claps to his face from his mother who is also accused of being abusive to her husband. The woman, said to be from Gweru allegedly turned onto the boy after he refrained her from assaulting his father. Zimbabwe is currently commemorating 16 days of activism against gender based violence and this incident speaks volumes about women's part in this inhuman act. He told Police that there was no need to handcuff him because he is not resisting arrest but the cop still went ahead and bundled his hands behind his back. He is a man who understands the law. He cooperates even when Police goes to excess and this is to make sure that he doesn't take unnecessary baggage before a magistrate. He does not want to attract further charges. When he goes to court he will face just that one simple charge of obstructing a by-law of the city. But the question that remains is who protects the public from uncouth, untrained marshals picked from the streets and employed by the local authorities. The majority of the marshals are either Zanu PF or CCC youth whose only merit for the job is having been footsoldiers for their parties in violent elections. There is no known national policing standard for parking marshals. ZRP has a Police charter which one can use to complain against its members. What does one use to complain against marshals except to suffer in silence? A few weeks ago marshals in Harare clamped a car carrying a child who was on oxygen. Pleadings from the mother yielded nothing. Also in Harare one marshal slapped a woman in a banking hall. Who thrn protects law-abiding citizens from the excesses of these ragtag marshals? Zambia has no stake in Victoria Falls – Mnangagwa MASVINGO – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said Mosi-oa-Tunya (Victoria Falls) belongs exclusively to Zimbabwe and is not shared with Zambia. Mnangagwa said the tourist resort area faces Zimbabwe and has its back to Zambia and therefore does not belong to both countries, but just one country, Zimbabwe. When you are a true man of the people you don't need to get Police clearance to get people marching on the streets. Hundreds of people spontaneously poured into Masvingo CBD today to show their deep grief and bid farewell to CCC youth and Masvingo City Council parking marshal Augustine Rashirai who was killed in a traffic accident on Monday while on duty. Rashirai was a pillar of the opposition and a campaign manager for councilors Bernard Muchokwa and Mayor Aleck Tabe during the 2022 by-election and 2023 harmonsed elections. Rashirai will be buried near Morgenster Mission tomorrow. Public gatherings of more than 10 people without Police clearance are strictly not allowed in Zimbabwe but this one happened. Givest Moyo, a Beitbridge man, was left stunned after discovering that his relatives had gathered and were holding a funeral service for him while he was still alive. Seeff Zimbabwe has embarked on a campaign to get millions of Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to invest in properties back home. Last week the real estate company put together a property exhibition show in Birmingham in the UK which was sold out with 1 500 Zimbabweans attending. This was the biggest business engagement gathering by Zimbabweans in Birmingham. 80 delegates from 38 Zimbabwean property companies including CBZ Bank and its CEO travelled to Birmingham for the event. Seeff Zimbabwe managing director, Patience Patongamwoyo said her company has come up with packages tailor-made for the Diaspora and these include properties for investment and properties for their retirement when they come back home. All road construction work has been suspended on Masvingo- Beitbridge Highway due to Government failure to pay contractors, creating real danger that when the rains come in the next few weeks, structures that are halfway built will be washed away and destroyed thereby raising the cost of building the road. Minister of Provincial Affairs for Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira was told by Engineer Kudakwashe Dzimati of the urgent need to get funds to secure the already done structures before the onset of the season. The structures that are at the mess of the rains are Chimusana Bridge, Masvingo Poly Interchange and road construction near Panyanda Lodge. Engineer Kudakwashe Dzimati warned that the detour near Panyanda will almost be impassable with the rains coming. In Gutu, at Devure River along Buhera-Gutu Road, Government lost millions of dollars after floods destroyed a bridge and a tarred section of the road that was at an advanced stage of construction in 2018. Government has since abandoned work on that road and it is now 8 years.... Traditional leaders' succession processes have become more chaotic and disputed in the Second Republic due to their politicisation and corruption. Tatenda Mapfumo of the house of Makovere is arrested by Police after he disrupted the installation of Headman Makovere born Sungai Dzatikona of Chivi held at St Mary's Primary School on Thursday. 8 Houses namely; Makovere, Berejena, Musvovi, Mupakaviri, Chikwerengwe, Maramba, Mupinhikwi and Chisuwa are the heirs to the Makovere headmanship and the majority are in disagreement with the appointment of Sungai Dzatikona as the new headman. Cop caught assisting Zanu PF vehicles to evade toll fees … A Mirror cameramen last week caught Police Constable Chihoma of Masvingo Central Police Station assisting Zanu PF vehicles to evade paying toll fees at Lothian Tollgate (Roy) along Masvingo-Mutare Highway. She tried to sneak away when the Mirror crew including editorial consultant, Matthew Takaona confronted the toll gate supervisor with evidence. One culprit was a driver, driving Zaka South MP Clemence Chiduwa’s Nissan Navara registration number AGE 0818. Zinara Spokesperson, Tsungi Manyeza said political party vehicles are not exempt from paying toll fees and warned that anyone caught on the wrong side of the law will pay US$30 fine. Last year Zanu PF chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri expressed disgust at the behaviour of evading toll fees. Takaona expressed shock at the lawlessness at the country’s tollgates. Benefit Chikomo says he left a comfortable life in Australia and returned to Zimbabwe to enter politics and fight for change. But before he could officially launch his new party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), police allegedly stopped the rally from going ahead in Masvingo. Chikomo claims he followed all the required procedures and accuses authorities of denying opposition parties political space. Breaking News....Zimbabwe's first Minister of Education, Dr Dzingai Mutumbuka was yesterday evicted from his US$600 000 mansion in Chisipiti Harare by alleged fraudsters who forged title deeds to his property. The buyer of the house only paid US$40 000. Justice Chinamhora who resigned as corruption investigations were starting against him granted the eviction order against Mutumbuka. Heroic kids…Two kids aged 12 and 9 from Domboshava, Magaya Village defied their ages and rescued a woman clasped by the leg by a 4 metre long crocodile along Mungezi River. The 12-year-old pulled the woman back while the 9-year-old fetched a log and tossed out one eye forcing the crocodile to release the woman. National Parks later captured the crocodile and indeed it had one eye missing. The woman was fishing using nets. These boys truly deserve recognition from the State.
