When you are a true man of the people you don't need to get Police clearance to get people marching on the streets. Hundreds of people spontaneously poured into Masvingo CBD today to show their deep grief and bid farewell to CCC youth and Masvingo City Council parking marshal Augustine Rashirai who was killed in a traffic accident on Monday while on duty. Rashirai was a pillar of the opposition and a campaign manager for councilors Bernard Muchokwa and Mayor Aleck Tabe during the 2022 by-election and 2023 harmonsed elections. Rashirai will be buried near Morgenster Mission tomorrow. Public gatherings of more than 10 people without Police clearance are strictly not allowed in Zimbabwe but this one happened. This boy remains composed and calm under a barrage of claps to his face from his mother who is also accused of being abusive to her husband. Seeff Zimbabwe has embarked on a campaign to get millions of Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to invest in properties back home. Last week the real estate company put together a property exhibition show in Birmingham in the UK which was sold out with 1 500 Zimbabweans attending. This was the biggest business engagement gathering by Zimbabweans in Birmingham. 80 delegates from 38 Zimbabwean property companies including CBZ Bank and its CEO travelled to Birmingham for the event. Seeff Zimbabwe managing director, Patience Patongamwoyo said her company has come up with packages tailor-made for the Diaspora and these include properties for investment and properties for their retirement when they come back home. Cop caught assisting Zanu PF vehicles to evade toll fees … A Mirror cameramen last week caught Police Constable Chihoma of Masvingo Central Police Station assisting Zanu PF vehicles to evade paying toll fees at Lothian Tollgate (Roy) along Masvingo-Mutare Highway. She tried to sneak away when the Mirror crew including editorial consultant, Matthew Takaona confronted the toll gate supervisor with evidence. One culprit was a driver, driving Zaka South MP Clemence Chiduwa’s Nissan Navara registration number AGE 0818. Zinara Spokesperson, Tsungi Manyeza said political party vehicles are not exempt from paying toll fees and warned that anyone caught on the wrong side of the law will pay US$30 fine. Last year Zanu PF chairperson, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri expressed disgust at the behaviour of evading toll fees. Takaona expressed shock at the lawlessness at the country’s tollgates. Tafadzwa Matanhuse accused President Mnangagwa and tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivhayo of being responsible for destroying vendor stalls in Chiredzi and throwing tens of vulnerable families into possible starvation. There will be gnashing of teeth after CAB3– Chadzamira MORRIS BISHI MASVINGO – Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira has warned party members opposing Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 (CAB3) that there is going to be gnashing of teeth when that process is done and dusted. Speaking at a Zanu PF Provincial Inter-district Meeting at Clovelly in Masvingo on Saturday, Chadzamira told the gathering that he and the Minister of State for Security, Lovemore Matuke are aware of the political activities of every MP and councilor and secret meetings that are being held to derail the passage of the Bill. CAB3 if passed will allow President Mnangagwa to rule for another two years after 2028 without going to an election and the same will apply to MPs. There is a public outcry over the amendment process with lawyers arguing that extending Mnangagwa and Parliament’s life without a referendum is illegal. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and top retired army generals have openly opposed the amendments and vowed to fight them. Heroic kids…Two kids aged 12 and 9 from Domboshava, Magaya Village defied their ages and rescued a woman clasped by the leg by a 4 metre long crocodile along Mungezi River. The 12-year-old pulled the woman back while the 9-year-old fetched a log and tossed out one eye forcing the crocodile to release the woman. National Parks later captured the crocodile and indeed it had one eye missing. The woman was fishing using nets. These boys truly deserve recognition from the State. Mirror came across the girl in Masvingo CBD today Ministry of Public Service Labour & Social Welfare and she barely looks 15 and needs help. She says she comes from a broken home. Her story is riddled with inconsistencies. She alleges that two truck drivers who posted her pictures on Facebook raped her but when Masvingo Mirror offered to accompany her to the Police she refused. She says she hates truck drivers, all of them and is going to do anything to harm them. Some sources in Masvingo say they have seen her approaching cars in town.
