A Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv sent out the international hijack signal mid-air after a violent cockpit incident, triggering a security scramble and fighter jets. Flight FZ1073 first squawked 7700, the general emergency code, then switched to 7500, the code for unlawful interference or a suspected hijacking. Then came the plunge. The Boeing 737 dropped roughly 17,400 feet in just over two minutes, as panic spread through the cabin. Passengers reported screams, blood and a severely injured pilot. Passenger accounts say a violent struggle erupted in the cockpit, with one pilot allegedly stabbing the other. Passengers and crew members reportedly rushed forward and helped restrain the attacker. The aircraft eventually diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where both pilots were taken to hospital. The incident initially raised fears of a hijacking and prompted an Israeli military response, though officials later said the 7500 alert appeared to have been triggered during the cockpit altercation. The circumstances remain under investigation.

A 19-year-old IIT Bombay student is dead after an exam incident involving a phone and ChatGPT, and now 400+ students are protesting on campus. IIT Bombay says he was counselled, assured there would be no academic consequences and faced no disciplinary action. Students allege he was threatened with suspension; his parents allege harassment and caste discrimination. Those claims need investigation, but the contradiction is stark: no disciplinary action, says the institute; fear of suspension, say students. And this is not an isolated campus story. At least six reported student suicides have occurred across IIT Bombay, Delhi and Kharagpur in roughly six months. We keep asking what happened to these students. Maybe we need to ask what happened around them. #iit #mumbai #iitbombay

HE WARNED THEM. THEY DIDN’T LISTEN. Hours before the five-storey student PG building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan came crashing down, a local plumber says he had seen the danger coming. Jawahar Shah says he watched workers breaking a brick pillar on the ground floor while construction work was underway. He warned the mason: “Don’t break it. The building will collapse.” But, according to Shah, the mason dismissed his warning, telling him the building had beams and would not fall. Shah says he then rushed to warn people in the surrounding shops and told them to stay away because the building was about to collapse. Around an hour and a half later, it did. The miracle of the green house in Nepal where more than 2400 people are now missing, 320 Indians among them. Is this green house a miracle of old fashioned engineering or a blessing from god. Possibly a bit of both 💔💜🙏 #nepal #nepalfloods

Mojo Exclusive | Miten Patel, a London-based man who lost both his parents in the Air India AI 171 crash, had spent the past year trying to identify another victim whose remains came home with his mother's remains, inside his mother’s coffin along with her last remains. This was NOT a careless mix up but a phenomenon called COMMINGLING- when body parts of multiple victims can get mixed up because of extreme heat or impact. Miten has devoted the last year of his life trying to find out whose skeletal remains came home with his mother's. The mystery has been solved. The UK Coroner has identified the man as Prakash Menaria, a man in his 40s from Udaipur who was working as a chef in London. Menaria died in the AI 171 crash along with his brother. The identification has brought long-awaited closure for Miten, who had been trying to find out who the “mystery man” was and locate his family. The development comes as the Inner West London Coroner’s Court formally opens a fresh inquest into the case. Miten had first spoken to Mojo Story & barkha dutt about his hunt for the truth and today speaks about a certain degree of emotional closure and sadness that he feels.

He came home soaked in blood. The next day, his daughter says, he was being called a "criminal" online. The daughter of a Delhi Police SI says her father, a former Marine Commando, was nearly lynched while on duty during the Jantar Mantar clashes and remained unconscious for hours. She says seeing his blood-soaked uniform at home was devastating, only to then watch those accused of attacking him move court against police personnel. She has now approached the Supreme Court, saying police families, too, deserve to be heard and to receive justice. #cjp #delhipolice #supremecourt
