A machinist friend of mine has been invaluable - honestly couldn’t have done it without him. A godsend who I met when I bought an industrial washing machine on marketplace. Cannot begin to express my relief and joy at producing wool batting. This machine is running smoother than it has run in the past 40 years. American made through and through.

It’s been exactly one year since we bought this highway frontage property for our business - 3.5 acres visible to 18k cars passing by daily. The land was totally undeveloped and it’s taken a serious amount of time, money, and headache to get to where it is now. Why buy land and build a building instead of renting a shop for the time being? I think about this often, as this journey hasn’t been easy dealing with the State, groundwater, expensive infrastructure and building delays. However, we wanted to cement ourselves in our community and build exactly what we want - from the layout to the landscaping, all done in the image of The Woolshire - to be here for generations to come. The outside of the building will be done this week. The slab will be poured next week, and then we can move our wool mill inside and start to run electric, HVAC, and then insulate and finish. Everything worthwhile takes hard work and determination. The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful land and building and we are really excited for the future. May His grace continue to pour upon us and may we honor Him with our work. Cheers 🥂

Instead of spraying an anti-static agent (chemical) on the wool which is done commonly in the wool industry, we have an anti-static bar that creates an ionized field of positive and negative ions, which in effect neutralize the static charge when the wool passes over it. It is also grounded 8 feet deep in the earth.

We were told American wool was a dying industry and that we weren’t big enough to meet order minimums for American grown organic cotton. We were told that bootstrapping (literally building everything from scratch without any real funds) wasn’t going to be possible. I thank God for our stubbornness and our belief that you can do whatever you put your mind to. We put our heads down and have busted our asses to get to where we are. We now have our very own wool mill (1960s American made machinery to vertically integrate) and our own property with a sew shop and a space for wool processing. This is just the beginning and you can expect big things from The Woolshire going forward. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your love, prayers, and support. Happy 3 year birthday, Woolshire.
