If you’ve never seen a sheep being shorn: this our friend Trevor shearing at the Modern Homesteading Conference. Shearers remain in full control for a quick, painless haircut. Sheep are always relieved when they shed the weight. PETA is more concerned about this than petrochemical pollution.

This is something not a lot of folks know. Static from running wool batting can build up to dangerously high levels. Instead of spraying an anti-static agent (chemical) on the wool which is done commonly in the wool industry, we have an anti-static bar that creates an ionized field of positive and negative ions, which in effect neutralize the static charge when the wool passes over it. It is also grounded 8 feet deep in the earth.

When we first started many didn’t believe it could be done. An all American made organic pillow with real American wool. We were told American wool was a dying industry and that we weren’t big enough to meet order minimums for American grown organic cotton. We were told that bootstrapping (literally building everything from scratch without any real funds) wasn’t going to be possible. I thank God for our stubbornness and our belief that you can do whatever you put your mind to. We put our heads down and have busted our asses to get to where we are. We now have our very own wool mill (1960s American made machinery to vertically integrate) and our own property with a sew shop and a space for wool processing. This is just the beginning and you can expect big things from The Woolshire going forward. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your love, prayers, and support. Happy 3 year birthday, Woolshire.

Complaining that we can’t have access to cheap Indian and Chinese wool because of Donald J. Trump tariffs but upset and confused why there are only a handful of US wool mills left - and why they’re more expensive 🤔 This should have never happened but it’s our opportunity to make it right.

Wool is a renewable fiber made by rain, sun and grass. It’s shorn off sheep annually, which is a quick painless haircut for the sheep. Our wool comes from ranches we know in the USA, free range sheep which live happy lives. Wool will naturally return to the earth when discarded, while synthetic clothing made from polyester, nylon, and other plastics, never break down fully. They only pollute the earth, kill wildlife, and release millions of tons of microplastics into the planet annually. Once again, PETA (here protesting at some fashion week) proving itself a friend of Big Plastic.

Patagonia is SHEIN but with virtue signaling - except they don’t really have virtues to signal to. 80% of the garments they produce are synthetic. They like to pretend telling the truth about their third world manufacturing practices with a smile on their face somehow makes them better, but the fact is that the world would be much better off without them.
