The federal government's move to send nearly 6,000 asylum seekers to NS is misguided and ignores our strategic plan of targeted immigration focused on workers in healthcare and the trades. I was disappointed today when the opposition blocked a motion condemning the federal government's plan to take advantage of the kindness and compassion of Nova Scotians. Our government has a responsible, strategic plan to attract the professionals, like doctors and nurses, that our province needs. The federal government's move will disrupt this balance.
