One flaw in the current Churchill Falls MOU is clear. Since 2007, mining activity on the Quebec side of the Labrador Trough has grown by 125%, while growth on our side has been just 45%. Why? Quebec had the power. It is time to develop our own industries, especially in Labrador. More power. More value. More transmission. For All of Us.

Newfoundland and Labrador is ready to do the work to see Bay du Nord move ahead, and getting this project on the national projects list is a crucial step. Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador are in the oil business, and we need Ottawa at the table as a real partner. I’ll keep working every day to make sure our province gets support, investment, and opportunity for all of us.

Tomorrow marks a new chapter for Newfoundland and Labrador. Our new cabinet will be sworn in; the team that will help lead our province forward. It will be the honour of my life to serve as Premier, and together, we’ll get to work delivering better healthcare, lower taxes, and safer communities, for ALL of us.

Mr. Hogan and the Liberals seem confused about my position on the MOU, so I will gladly repeat it again: I am committed to getting the best deal possible for Newfoundland and Labrador. That means an independent review, full transparency, and giving the people of this province the final say through a referendum. We are putting the pieces in place now to make that happen. These are our resources, and we’re going to get this right.
