With extreme heat like we’re currently experiencing, rail temperatures can soar above 135°F, which may cause bends in the rail due to thermal expansion. For years, Metro has monitored rail temps on “heat rides” to detect track issues before they happen. This year, we’re adding something new: applying reflective white paint to vulnerable segments, which lowers temps. With over 6,000 feet treated, we’re enhancing track lifespan and boosting safety and reliability! Here’s the team in action 💪

Starting Monday, you’ll see buses hitting the streets with brand new technology! 🚌 We are replacing exterior mirrors on our new buses with cameras and digital interior mirrors – providing operators with a brighter, clearer view of vehicles and other road users traveling behind and alongside the bus. We’ve also added additional collision avoidance sensors and warning systems to help operators better identify and avoid pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and more. These innovative tools help us modernize our bus fleet and improve safety for all.
