Government taking over L&T Metro is one of the... best things to happen to Hyderabad. Metro rail is rarely profitable for a private player. L&T realized this very late. While commuters have faced severe overcrowding since 2022 ( Attached the video from 2022), there was no increase in coach capacity, citing the losses. Even Phase 2 was also stalled due to lack of cooperation on revenue sharing and integration from L&T. The Centre has been waiting for this handover before approving Phase 2. Financially, this may not look good but for the metro to scale up, integrate seemlessly with Phase 2, and meet the city’s growing needs, this is much needed. Across India, there are no successful fully private metros anymore. Gurgaon Rapid Metro and Mumbai Metro lines originally developed by private players were eventually taken over by state authorities. Anyway, Hyderabad’s PPP failure is a hard lesson for any government or private entity attempting to enter the public transit space.show more

Western Railway is undertaking a major safety-driven encroachment removal... operation at Garib Nagar, Bandra (East), today i.e 19th May 2026, after due legal process extending over several years. The following facts may kindly be noted: 1. The matter is not sudden or arbitrary. Proceedings under the Public Premises Act were initiated before 2017 and eviction orders were passed on 27.11.2017. 2. The issue has undergone extensive judicial scrutiny over nearly nine years, including proceedings before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court and Hon’ble Supreme Court. 3. The latest orders of the Hon’ble Bombay High Court dated 29.04.2026, subsequently upheld in further proceedings as well as before the Hon’ble Supreme Court, have permitted removal of unauthorized encroachments, while protecting identified eligible structures. 4. Western Railway is fully complying with judicial directions. Structures identified for protection through the joint survey process are not being disturbed. 5. The action is being undertaken primarily in the railway safety zone adjacent to active railway tracks, where unauthorized habitation poses serious risks to human life and train operations. 6. This railway area stretch is operationally critical for augmentation of rail capacity in Mumbai. Removal of encroachments is essential for railway safety, operational flexibility and future infrastructure expansion, including additional train services. 7. The proposed works are linked to enhancement of carrying capacity on one of the busiest rail corridors in the country and will facilitate introduction of additional long-distance train services for passengers across India. 8. Railway land cannot remain perpetually encroached, be it anywhere, and more so in safety-sensitive operational areas. At the same time, Railway administration is acting strictly within the framework of law and court directions. 9. The operation is being carried out jointly with civil administration, police authorities and railway security agencies to ensure maintenance of law and order and humane execution of the drive.show more

Russia has built more than 2,500 km of roads... and railroads, a new railway network, and revamped ports in the occupied territories of Ukraine, according to a Reuters investigation. Large-scale works, confirmed by satellite imagery and news agency data, indicate that this is not temporary wartime logistics, but a systematic integration of occupied territories into Russian infrastructure. One of the key projects is the "Novorossiya Railways" system, which includes a planned 525-km line started in 2023. Since that year, Russia has spent about $425 million on the construction and maintenance of the railway network in the occupied territories. At the same time, road infrastructure is also being developed: the "Novorossiya" highway is being built as part of the 1,400-kilometer "Azov Ring" loop, which is intended to connect the seized parts of Ukrainian regions with Russia and Russian-occupied Crimea. According to Reuters, the new rail and road connections already allow Moscow to circumvent the Crimean Bridge, which had previously been the main road and rail link to the peninsula and remains vulnerable to Ukrainian strikes. Occupied Ukrainian ports that were largely inactive in the first years of the war have been revamped and reopened under Russia's flag on the inland Sea of Azov. Satellite images taken of Mariupol's docks in August 2025 show a new silver-domed facility, and nearby, a mountain of what looks like coal being readied for export. This past round of broilers from the farm has... been monumental. I began working with a new chick supplier after searching for a new processor - ended up picking up chickens off a semi truck with 20,000 chickens at about 4AM. Label on top - “non vaccinated” or some derivative. We had the most successful brooder setup we’ve ever run - using Ohio Brooders we had the lowest mortality rate and best performance we’ve seen for three years. Building on past experiences we improved everything - soaked / fermented feed, water availability, movements across the pastures - we pushed these chickens into parts of our pastures we’ve never intentionally had chicken. They moved frequently, grew quickly, and ended up dressing out at higher weights than we’ve ever seen - especially considering we don’t feed soybeans! I worked with two USDA Processors, both who air-chill, coordinated with logistics including reefer truck transportation, established a relationship with a cold-chain facility and now have our freezers stocked to re-open new sales tomorrow. All pre-orders shipped and delivered. All new orders can begin tomorrow (as long as I get the website updated). We anticipate the scale of which we’re operating to grow to full time business in 2026. We’re excited - we’re scared and we’re thankful to everyone who has followed along. This may not seem like a big deal, but... it is. Payton was born with a brain difference called holoprosencephaly. Essentially this means that the front part of her brain did not split into two separate left and right halves during early pregnancy. This causes developmental delays, temperature regulation issues, seizures, and coordination and motor control problems. She has struggled to coordinate midline over her near two years on this earth and it’s a big milestone moment when she can show that she’s developing and growing in this area. One thing that PT has wanted to see for a long time now is her laying on her side and being able to interact with objects in front of her like this…not just accidental batting, but intentional interaction. 🚨 SOUTH KOREAN SCIENTISTS JUST CREATED HOLLOW SILICON NANOTUBES... THAT TRAP HEAT AND TURN WASTE ENERGY INTO ELECTRICITY. Researchers at POSTECH have developed a new hollow silicon nanotube structure that dramatically reduces thermal conductivity. By turning solid nanowires into microscopic pipes, they trapped heat-carrying particles (phonons) inside the tubes, cutting thermal conductivity by 70% compared to solid wires. Even when both structures had the same surface area, the hollow nanotubes still ran 33% cooler. This phonon localization effect previously thought to require extreme cold or exotic materials was achieved at near-room temperature using simple silicon nanotubes. Why this matters: • Waste heat from data centers, EV batteries, factories, and electronics is currently lost this could capture and convert it into usable electricity • The technology uses abundant, cheap silicon instead of rare and expensive materials like bismuth and tellurium • It’s highly compatible with existing semiconductor manufacturing, making large-scale production more realistic • It solves a long-standing problem: silicon is great for chips but terrible for thermoelectric energy conversion The deeper implication: This breakthrough shows that clever nanoscale engineering can unlock new capabilities from ordinary materials. By controlling how heat moves at the atomic level, researchers are opening a path to more efficient energy recovery systems without relying on scarce resources. As AI and computing power keep growing, finding ways to recycle the massive amounts of waste heat they generate will become increasingly important.
