Another great example of everyday Chinese efficiency we just... experienced. We got the RV stuck (again, see quoted post below 👇) but this time it's completely not our fault: at the end of a one-way road a height restriction barrier had collapsed. It was meant to block trucks over 3m in height but, due to it collapsing, it was standing at maybe 2m50 and our RV is 2m80 so 🤷‍♂️ And since it was a one way road we couldn't turn around and drive against traffic: forbidden and too dangerous. So we called the police. They arrived in exactly 3 minutes which they told us is actually their official KPI for time to intervention. I repeat: the official KPI for the police here in China is that when someone calls, they need to be on-site within a maximum of 3 minutes 🤯 They did two things: first, they immediately called the local village chief, which in the Chinese system is the person accountable to get the height restriction barrier fixed. The guy arrived in less than 2 minutes! Second, they escorted us to drive back on our one-way road, so we could pass by the bike lane on the side which was large enough for our RV and wasn't affected by the barrier (see 3rd video). To summarize: in the space of a mere 5 minutes after calling them, the police had arrived, the guy in charge of fixing the barrier was on-site, and we were safely escorted back on the road. This is one of the nicest things about China:... whatever happens to you, you can always count on people's solidarity. This is what just happened to us. We wanted to park our RV right next to Hulun lake for the night but stupidly managed to get it stuck in the sand. Impossible to drive out anymore 😓 Immediately, and I mean immediately, people around us started to pitch in to help. Luckily it so happened that a group of ex-PLA soldiers were having a get-together barbecue 100 meters away from us. They got told about our issue, stopped their barbecue and came to help. They told us "don't worry, no matter what we'll get you out, it's just a matter of time". Before we know it, one of the guys takes the wheel of the RV and the others start pushing. In 5 minutes, job done! RV unstuck and the guys get back to their barbecue. The Chinese are often depicted as cold and distant but my consistent experience is that they're one of the kindest people in the world, always ready to help a fellow human in need!show more

🚨🚨2-ALARM FIRE Tucson Fire was dispatched to a call... of fire nature unknown at 3:37 this afternoon in the 3100 block of East 22nd Street. Engine 3 arrived six minutes later and reported smoke coming from the back door on and eaves of an abandoned AM/PM. A full alarm was called, and crews started to search for the source of the fire. As seen in this video, there was a significant fire event. The roof collapsed, and operations shifted to a defensive mode. At this time, crews are unable to enter the building to extinguish remaining hot spots, and excavators will be used to tear it down. Firefighters were on the roof when it collapsed, but they were uninjured, as was the individual seen in the video. This video highlights the dangers our crews face every time they battle a fire, and we are thankful that everyone is safe. The fire was caused by homeless activity.show more

A Taiwanese reporter interviewed the PCES PC brand (the... skirt Lisa wore during the Taiwan concert) about how they felt. One of the team members was so happy, they threw up! A story in 4 acts 👇 We stupidly drained... the RV's battery during the night by leaving both air condition units at full blast all night long and it wouldn't start anymore... Some kind locals here in Yining tried to help with a jump starter but it wouldn't work because the problem is with the main EV battery, not the engine battery. So we got a tow truck to drop the RV at a charging site. Now we just need to wait for the battery to charge and we're back on the road. As we call it in our family: type 2 fun 😊show more

This is quite funny. We're visiting Kamakura in Japan... and we came across a large group of Chinese tourists in a place that, at first glance, looked nothing special. Turns out that this very spot is one of THE most iconic locations in Japan for Chinese people who grew up in the 1990s. Why? Because in the 1990s there was this Japanese basketball manga called "slam dunk" that every kid was watching in China, and the opening credits featured an image of this very spot: a railroad crossing on a small street leading to the beach in Kamakura. Apparently this place is so popular with Chinese tourists that they had to cordon it off at some point. Now it's obviously reopened with 3 guards assigned to handle the traffic. And now that they've heard about it, it's my daughters' turn to be hooked on the series so maybe in 20 years' time they'll be perpetuating the passion and come back to this "Slam Dunk" shrine ☺️show more

Today, we visited the Minab school in southern Iran,... where US forces massacred 168 students and teachers at the outset of the Trump-Netanyahu war of aggression on Iran. About ten minutes after we left the Minab school today, it was hit with a drone strike. (The aftermath of that strike was captured in this video). Yesterday, we were in the Iranian city of Bushehr, which lies on the Persian Gulf to the north of Minab. Shortly after we left our hotel in Bushehr, there was an airstrike on a target directly across the street from our hotel. While we were in Bushehr, we visited a marine terminal that had sustained damage in airstrikes conducted earlier this month. Shortly after we left the marine terminal, it too was hit with an airstrike. Another site that we visited in Bushehr yesterday was also hit with an airstrike shortly after we left it. Now all of this could be random. On the other hand, it may be that U.S.-Israeli forces are sending us a message. If in fact they are sending us a message, we have a message for them. Shortly after 5 pm yesterday, Deputies responded to a... call for a dog in distress in the area of 228th and Harney Street, just south of Waterloo. When they arrived they were informed by homeowners that a dog had fallen through the ice on the lake and was treading water. Deputy Kubik, a DCSO K9 handler, made use of a kayak that was on one of the homeowner's docks and quickly made his way across the ice, using his oar to break the ice as he paddled to the dog. About the time he reached the dog, Waterloo Fire & Rescue also arrived and assisted in pulling Deputy Kubik and Boomer the dog back to shore. Once on shore, Deputy Clark took the 'chilly dog' inside to warm him up with a hair dryer. We are happy to report that after a brief vet visit yesterday, Boomer is doing great. OP : In Chembur, me and 4 of my... friends/siblings had gone out to eat burgers when a drunk man in his 50s-60s, standing on the road smoking, suddenly started yelling at me repeatedly, “चल गाड़ी पर बैठ आ जा.” When I asked if he was talking to me, he said yes. My brother confronted him for speaking to a girl like that, after which the man started threatening and yelling at me saying things like “शानी बन रही है क्या?” and "तुझे दिखाता हूँ." He then ran away leaving his scooty behind, and we stayed there waiting for him to return. Around 15 minutes later, he came back with his wife and completely changed the story, claiming I approached him first. While we were arguing, a local man called people from the area and suddenly 20-25 people gathered around us. Things escalated quickly - my sister was physically pushed, my brothers were beaten, slapped and attacked, and when I tried stopping them, even I got pushed and hit. Elderly women from the crowd started slapping me too. Stones were thrown at us and huge rocks shattered our car's front glass completely. We were just 5-6 people against an entire mob. When we called the police expecting help, they immediately started yelling at us to sit in the police van without even hearing our side. Later we found out the local man involved was apparently known to the police. At the station, instead of taking the harassment and assault seriously, we were mocked, interrupted, yelled at, and treated like criminals. One officer kept staring at my chest while I was trying to explain what happened, and one of my friends was even slapped by a cop for speaking against the local man they were favouring. By the end of it, we were so traumatised, exhausted and emotionally drained that we gave up on filing the complaint altogether. So the question is - is this how safe women are in Mumbai? If girls can get verbally/ sexually harassed, physically attacked, and then mocked at police stations too, who are common people supposed to go for help?show more

I was in Poland on work for a week... about 3 weeks ago. The factory i was visiting was a big machine shop and was in a village in the middle of nowhere. The factory was not located in a dedicated industrial area or anything like that. There were residences around too. They had uninterrupted 3-phase power and functional roads. Workers were from nearby villages and towns. Dear Narendra Modi sir, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Piyush Goyal If we have to industrialise, we need to liberalise land laws. Please enable SMEs with investment less than 10 crores and which dont harm the environment to buy land and setup factories in villages in whatever land they can get hold of. The biggest road blocks to do it are a plethora of permissions needed, land conversion laws and uninterrupted 3-phase power. We need 3-phase electrification all over the country as urgently as we need highways. Enabling industrialisation in villages will help keep the capital costs low and accelerate manufacturing entrepreneurship. It will help in equipping our youth with skills and jobs closer to home, it will help declog cities and improve the quality of life for millions. So remember that time machine I told you about?... I managed to sneek out another video from my visit to the future.. this time I captured video of a 3d artist creating assets for a short commercial. They sculpted the bird in the video with nothing but two controllers which they used to manipulate generative matter in 3d. The AI model changed in realtime and adopted their style of work, both based on the work they did on the scene, and on reference images they gave the system. Seeing the 3d model transform in realtime as they were working on it was incredible. When it started moving and reacted to their instructions, I knew it was time to return to the present :D #art #aishow more

Horrible Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited charger in Amravati We... wasted nearly 2 hours of our time because the station is not properly equipped. 140A MCB for a 120kW power. It kept on tripping and we had to cool it by fanning the door to keep our hopes alive. Max power it gave was 88kW when it worked for 5 minutes. Else we would have easily covered more than 1800 kms for our record run. There were more hiccups on our way to create the 1608 km IBR record of max distance travelled in 24 hours in an EV but this was the biggest one and caused chain reaction and spoiled our plan of maybe crossing 2K kms I am an advocate for EVs but when things are not right I will call them out. We bought a perfect puppy (completely healthy, with veterinary confirmation and KSU documents). We started looking for a transporter. It so happened that the transporter suggested by the breeder had bad reviews, so I went to search on my own. I found a person who supposedly understands dogs (according to him - super responsible and takes full responsibility for the animal). Of all the possible problems, only a 1–2 day delay in delivery was discussed. Spoiler: they promised delivery in 3–4 days, it took 2 weeks… Before the breeder handed over the dog, this person was constantly in touch, communicating, etc. After the dog arrived in Kyiv from Kryvyi Rih, the transporter (whose name is Artem +380973444587 and his wife Alina +380 95 764 98 86 / all communication was through his wife’s number, which is listed on his website) sent us only one video. Then I explained that we had already paid for the dog and it was already ours, but nothing changed after that. The dog was taken to Moldova and they wrote: “there is no veterinarian at the border who issues the EU certificate, so we are waiting for one to appear.” We were outraged but agreed, because the agreement was for LEGAL transportation!!! Remember this moment, because later Artem (the transporter) will explain everything with this EU certificate. As it turned out later, the dog was with his relatives in Moldova, who also deal with transportation (Ruslan +373 695 71 399). The transportation of the dog was ultimately carried out by a passenger transport company (Baltik Tour — +380 63 060 5614). In the second week, we started calling, arguing, and saying that we would pick up the dog from Moldova and transport it ourselves. Please, be careful and only trust animals to people you know personally. We got a call to pick up this precious... baby from a location in Oyo State, the client clearly stated the car was in a pretty bad condition and that he wanted to refurbish the car for his Dad. Arrangements were made for pick up and shortly after the driver passed Ibadan, the engine was overheating, and there were oil droplets on the road from the engine, he waited for a while and allowed the engine to cool off and topped up the water in the radiator, he had not driven for 10 minutes before the engine overheated again, I contacted our client and I told him the best option was to tow the car because there was no way that car would get to Inside Òṣogbo , he said we should go ahead and he was going to cover the cost.
