At MIT, I learned about RNNs in my NLP... class with Prof. Michael Collins. He built a model from my keystrokes to predict who I was. To me, it felt like a magic box. Years later, when I had to teach RNNs, I forced myself to go inside the box. ⬇️ Download: First, with a tiny example on paper by hand ✍️. Then, a slightly larger one in Excel. That’s when it finally clicked: 👉 The weights are reused (weight matrices on the left side) 👉 The hidden states are passed down (H's) When I built it by hand and saw everything visually, it clicked, just math you can actually trace. Now I try to give others the same “aha!” moment I had. ⬇️ Download Excel:show more

At MIT, the only course I ever dropped was... signal processing. The DFT math was too intimidating. It’s so easy to just type fft() in MATLAB and move on. Years later, I finally did DFT by hand. ✍️ If you are also afraid of DFT, I hope this helps! ⬇️ Download:show more

I don’t know how my brain works. Actually, I’m... not sure it works. Tonight we’re watching TV with the kids, I grab a Coke, sit down and place the can on the coffee table. And then my brain, this haunted little hamster wheel, goes: “Remember when Yoongi opened a can with one hand?” So naturally I think:“Interesting. I too have a hand.” I lift the tab.I struggle.I inhale like I’m defusing a bomb. Then I try to push the tab back Still one hand.Still committed.Still delusional. I concentrate. I breathe because apparently I’m in a documentary called Woman vs Aluminum. Then the can slips. Coke launches itself across the table like it had waited years for freedom. Everything is wet. The floor. The table. My credibility as a parent. I just stare at it and go: “…oh.” My son turns to me like he just witnessed a workplace accident. “Maman. What are you DOING?” Me, soaked in consequences: “I wanted to see if I could open it with one hand.” Him: “WHY?” And before I can even invent a normal reason, my daughter sighs from the couch. “Yoongi did it in the last live. She thought it was sexy.” My son facepalms so hard I think he saw 2027. “Seriously? Are you going to try EVERYTHING they do?” Me: “No?” My daughter, already opening the evidence folder: “Fly yoga was because of them.” My son: “Climbing too.” Her: “Dance classes.” Him: “Korean cooking workshops.” Her: “The skincare routine.” My son looked at the Coke crime scene, then at me, and said: “Maman. At this point BTS are not idols. They are your remote control” Anyway, I am currently cleaning the floor. And reflecting on my choices.😬show more

Asked to reflect on navigating a “hellish” public breakup,... Perrie acknowledges that she receives criticism for answering questions about it, “[but] I’m like, ‘But it really affected me massively’”: “People are gonna hate me talking about it… I can’t catch a break. If I talk about this, they’re like: ‘Why are you talking about it?!’ But anyway, shut up! Yeah, [it’s my life]. When you go through heartbreak, it is hellish. You can’t eat, you can’t sleep, you feel horrendous. You don’t feel good enough and you feel like you’ve been left for something better, or whatever it is… Then what makes it even worse is, I feel like the world was then looking at me, laughing at me. I felt embarrassed; I felt horrified. I had serious breakdowns. I did. Because it wasn’t just the heartbreak I was dealing with. I was dealing with everybody looking at me, and I felt ridiculed. I just couldn’t cope with it; I hated it. I was breaking down in performances, which isn’t like me at all. I was crying constantly. I think I was depressed… I know that sounds ridiculous! But I think it was this plus this plus this, and everything on top. It was like, I had to be there for the girls; I had to be switched on; I had to power through for Little Mix – but I also just wanted to be left the fuck alone. But I also was getting followed every two seconds and asked about it 24/7, and it was the headlines, it was everywhere, and it was a lot! And this is the thing – when people are like, ‘Stop talking about it!’ I’m like, ‘But it really affected me massively’.”show more

In a recent filter interview, Karim Benzema opened up... about his time playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and he didn’t hold back. Benzema claimed Ronaldo was extremely selfish on the pitch, always wanting to take every set piece: “Ronaldo wanted everything corners, free kicks, penalties… everything. If he didn’t score in a match, he wouldn’t talk to anyone in the dressing room. That’s just how he was. I still remember one game where I had already scored two goals. I got fouled inside the box and it was a clear penalty my chance for the first hat-trick of my career. The coach told me to take the penalty, but Cristiano came and took the ball from me. He took the shot instead. That’s the kind of teammate he was. When Cristiano left for Juventus, that’s when I started shining. I finally had the freedom to express myself and become the player I always knew I could be.”show more

Connor Norby postgame: "They just want me to be... me, and it felt like for a long time I was trying to be someone that I wasn't, and I got away from the things I was good at. There's always time to work on your weaknesses. Those never stop, but it was when I was getting away from my strengths, that was what really hurt me. Grok Build is seriously addictive. I can't put it... down. I had my 8-year-old nephew build a game with it, Starship Breakthrough. He sent all the prompts himself; I just gave a little guidance on the side. He knows zero code, and when he finished his first real game, he was over the moon. One tip: when you start a new project in Grok Build, don't have it execute right away. Say "I want to build a ___, design it first, then build it." Let it lay out a plan, you review it, then it executes — the results come out noticeably more solid. Everyone should give it a try.show more

🚨 Ajinkya Rahane revealed the story behind his decision... to send Yashasvi Jaiswal off the field. 🗣️ " I sensed the situation and also I felt it was going out of hand, both the players were going out of hand and it was my responsibility to control my teammates. You respect the umpires, the officials who are on field, who are controlling the game, who are officiating the game and also the situations. Mistakes can happen to anyone, but you, as a player, you be in that limit. So, I sensed the situation, what can happen next, it was my instant reaction to send him off the field. As a player, I also felt that he must have felt bad, I said, okay, if he felt bad about me, it's okay. But I think, that point in time, it was a good thing for him. The thing which I told him about, go in from the back, put ice on your head and come back "show more

👤: Recently was there a moment when you truly... felt “I’m finally back with SEVENTEEN”? 👼: It wasn't anything particularly special, but we had a group schedule recently. My first schedule after returning was a solo activity, and today's shoot is also solo, but we had our first group shoot since my return the day before yesterday. When I reunited with the members in the waiting room while we were getting our hair and makeup done, it felt really strange yet at the same time it felt so natural. I thought, “Ahh I'm back in the place where everyone is again,” and “I'm doing this job again.” It was such a strange feeling to realize that everything was there just as naturally as before. It was a space I had originally been in all the time, but perhaps my mind still hadn't fully caught up with everything. So, when I saw the members sitting side by side getting their hair and makeup done just like we used to, it felt both fresh and familiar. That's when the realization suddenly hit me: “Ahh we're going to be doing activities together again.”show more

Five years ago, I became a mommy. A lot... of you know me as Logo Queen, but not many of you know me as a mom. Sometime in 2021, I gave birth to my handsome, adorable son. He is the reason I am who I am today. He’s the reason I became Logo Queen. He’s the reason I put so much effort into my craft and kept pushing even when life felt impossible. When I was pregnant with him, I lost all my savings. I was literally left with nothing. And I knew I didn’t want to bring a child into the world where he wouldn’t be proud of his mom. After giving birth in 2021, I went through postpartum depression and many difficult moments. But in that process, I decided to pick up a tech skill. I tried learning coding and design, and design was the one that truly clicked for me. So I focused on it around January–February 2022. My son is my everything. He’s the reason I pushed on nights when I had every excuse not to. He’s the reason I stayed consistent, the reason I fought to change my life, and the reason I decided to build something meaningful for myself. My story is proof that you can write your own story. Yes, motherhood can be heavy. It comes with so many responsibilities. But it can also be the stepping stone to greatness. It doesn’t have to be the obstacle standing between you and your dreams. So today, I’m celebrating myself. Happy Mother’s Day to me. 🤍show more

Today, I was in one of Geneva's parks when... suddenly a plane flew overhead. Because of the trauma I experienced in Gaza, my first instinct was fear. For a moment, I thought it was going to drop a missile on us. Then, a few seconds later, I remembered that I am in Switzerland now, and that I am safe. War changes people in ways that are difficult to explain. Even when you leave, some parts of it remain inside you. My body may be here in Switzerland, but my memories are still in Gaza.show more

I was on my last set of 40 when... I felt myself began to slow down. I didn’t think much of it at first, but I started feeling a little funny on the way to the treadmill to cool down. It was a very weird, feeling not tired, not dizzy this weird fog. I tried walking for about a minute, but felt off to the point I sat down. I definitely think I push myself a little too far today.show more

🙏♥️🙏 "Hey... you alright, kid? You got someone?" I... remember trying to answer, but my voice barely came out. "Just me..." I was pulled from beneath twisted metal, shaking so hard I could hardly breathe. Everything felt loud and empty at the same time-until he stepped into it. Sergeant Marcus Hayes. He didn't ask many questions. He didn't make a speech. He just lifted me gently into his arms and said, "You're safe now." And somehow... I believed him. From that moment on, he never really let me go. At the camp, he'd slide part of his meal onto my tray without a word. He showed me how to tie my boots, slow and patient, like it mattered. On the nights when the silence got too heavy and I couldn't stop crying, he'd sit nearby—never forcing me to talk, just making sure I wasn't alone. He wasn't trying to be a hero. He was just choosing to care. And that changed everything. When he brought me home, he didn't just give me a place to stay—he gave me a life to grow into. He became the steady presence I didn't know I needed. He taught me how to stand tall when things felt impossible... how to keep my word even when no one was watching... how to become someone I could be proud of. I watched him in the quiet moments— shaving in the mirror, fixing the truck in the driveway, folding his uniform with care and discipline. Every little thing meant something. And without realizing it, I started building myself in his image. Years later, 1 wear that same uniform. And every time I stand in front of the mirror, adjusting it just right... I don't just see myself. I see Sergeant Marcus Hayes standing behind me quiet, steady, and proud 🙏♥️🙏show more

Every time I’ve grown, it started with discomfort. Comfort... keeps you still. Courage moves you forward. When I moved to WA in 2019, I was terrified. I had no idea what to expect. I left the other side of the country, away from absolutely everything I knew, to start an entirely new life. It was uncomfortable. It was scary. And it was the best thing I ever did for myself.show more

This video of me was taken the moment that... God fully entered me and I fully allowed God in. God hasn’t left since. I had danced around it for a while, still processing conditioning that God was a religious word, a heavy word. I had to untangle some stuff before being able to call God by name, directly, without flinching, without sarcasm. I can’t believe I have this moment on film. The person filming was a non-believer - He believed God was an oppressive Christian force, a cult leader, a fairytale, a problem. So I kept quiet. Seconds after this video, twisting the water out of my hair and getting my clothes back on, I turned away from him and muttered in quiet prayer to myself “I love God … I love God… I love… God. Thank you”. I was finally able to say it with my whole being in that moment. Heart bursting. I finally understood who God was. I wanted to share it with my friend so bad in the moment but I couldn’t. I knew where he stood. Hours later, I told him about my God moment. I played it off a bit for my skeptical audience, implying that the cold plunge made me so high and faint that I was talking to God. But I knew in my heart what was happening. How real it was. “Should I be worried?” He responded. Then he went on to tell me a story about how a woman approached him on the beach last week and tried to convert him to Christianity with some pamphlets.show more

I arrived in America with my hike clothes .... On the third day after missing my flight to the US , I decided life had to go on . So I went to arboretum to let go and chart what next coz I had a startup to run - couldn’t afford to be depressed . I walked around, paths I’d never trailed before . Spotted butterflies . Sought my spark - how the trees excited me before , or the sheer wonder of how tall and crooked they were . Till I was calm enough for the butterflies to veer towards me - again . Then I let go . Cancelled all my travel plans , meetings , reservations etc . Then I informed my partners . It was almost 9pm when I told one of our angel investors about it , that he said we could not cancel the business trip . There and then he got me an 11pm flight to Washington DC . I had no time to change clothes . The plane was leaving in two hours and with Nairobi traffic, I just changed my hoodie and socks and left for the airport . Good thing , I had not unpacked my suitcase . I arrived at JKIA and the next stop was at Amsterdam. I couldn’t believe it . I made it on time for the event that I was invited to at Mary Mount university. Didn’t present coz I had initially cancelled but the people loved my story . How I got to SF ? That’s another interesting story on its own …show more
