He began placing water and grains for birds in old clay pots. Soon after, he started collaborating with local potters to make mud nests specially designed for sparrows. And rather than selling them, he distributed them completely free. For the last 10 years, Sanjay has dedicated his time, effort, and personal earnings to helping birds survive in urban spaces. So far, he has given away nearly 10,000 nests across seven villages around Mahasamund, where bird homes now hang outside countless households.
