Continuing with Kikuyu folklore creatures. Today are creatures that... aren't part of the giants/ogres. First up, Ndamathia. A colossal, prehistoric river dragon or giant serpent covered in dark, heavy, armored scales. It is so immense that its body is said to match the length of the rainbows it creates, and it possesses prized, magical hairs or feathers growing at the very tip of its massive tail. It was found in the deepest, most sacred pools (ndũndũ) of major rivers, waterfalls, and mist-veiled basins within the Aberdare highlands and the forests surrounding Mount Kenya (Kĩrĩnyaga). The Ndamathia is a deeply sacred symbol of divine power, weather control, and political legitimacy in Kikuyu culture. It is explicitly tied to the Ituĩka ceremony, the peaceful transition of tribal leadership that happened every 30 to 40 years. To legitimize a new generation of ruling elders, young warriors had to courageously venture into the waters, bribe or entice the beast, and pluck the magical hairs from its tail to use in their sacred inauguration rituals.show more

A Roman emperor ate his meals in a sea... cave, a few feet from a massive marble sculpture of the moment Odysseus blinds the Cyclops. Eventually it lay shattered in thousands of pieces on the floor of that cave, and stayed there until 1957... The emperor was Tiberius, who ruled Rome after Augustus, and the cave is at Sperlonga, on the coast between Rome and Naples. It was a natural grotto opening onto the sea, and he turned it into a private dining hall, with pools of water reaching into the mouth of the cave and a platform where he and his guests reclined to eat, the waves echoing off the rock around them... Definitely not a bad place to host dinner. The sculpture stood at the deepest point of the cave and it showed the most terrifying scene in Homer's poem, when Odysseus and his men are trapped inside the cave of Polyphemus, a one-eyed man-eating giant who has sealed them in with a boulder too heavy to move and is eating the crew alive, one by one. Odysseus cannot simply kill him in his sleep, or they will be entombed with the corpse forever. So he gets the giant drunk, waits for him to pass out, hardens the tip of an olive-wood stake in the fire, and drives it into the Cyclops's single eye. The sculptors depicted the instant just before the stake goes in... The colossal figure of Polyphemus sprawls backward, drunk and unaware. Odysseus, the one closest to the Cyclops, and three of his men strain upward with the spike. It was carved larger than life and set in shadow at the back of the grotto, so that as the lamplight shifted, the whole scene seemed to move over the emperor's dinner. The Roman historians Tacitus and Suetonius both record that in the year 26 AD, while Tiberius was dining there, rocks fell from the roof of the grotto, crushing several of his attendants and nearly killing the emperor, who was shielded and dragged out. In that collapse, or in a later one, the great marble scenes were smashed into thousands of fragments. There they lay, at the bottom of the cave, until 1957, when workers building a coastal road cut into the ground and found them. Among the rubble they pulled out the colossal head of the giant himself, and slowly, piece by piece, the scene was put back together. The cave gave up two more secrets: the first was an inscription, ten lines of Latin verse, praising the grotto and saying that only a new Virgil could do justice to its statues of Scylla and the blinding of the monster by the man from Ithaca. It told the archaeologists exactly what they had found. The second was carved into the base of the neighbouring ship: three names, Athenodoros, Agesander, and Polydorus, the same sculptors the Roman writer Pliny had named as the creators of the Laocoön, the statue I wrote about yesterday. Homer's Odyssey is one of the oldest stories in the world, and it has outlived the emperor, the civilization that first told it, and every person who has ever loved it. Nearly three thousand years later, we are still telling the story of a man lost far from home, because some part of us always is... I started my newsletter because the past is full of stories like this one, and so few people ever stop to tell us why they matter. Every week I try to. If that is something you'd like to be part of, you can join through the link in my bio, and if you'd like to support my work, a paid subscription is what makes it possible. That golden falcon isn't the Illuminati. It's Horus, one... of the oldest gods in human history. This gold head was found buried beneath the floor of his temple at Hierakonpolis, the "City of the Falcon," the capital of Egypt in its earliest days. It was beaten from solid gold, its eyes inlaid with polished obsidian to mimic a real bird's. Modern conspiracy culture flattened 5,000 years of sacred meaning into a spooky logo.show more

🇳🇵| #Nepal | The devastation in #Rasuwa is not... an act of nature. It is the visible wound of a nation that has been carved up and sold by its own political class to foreign corporations and global financial institutions. Nepal's sovereignty has been under quiet, systematic attack for decades, and the landslide is the result. The government of Nepal did not merely fail to protect its people. It actively enabled their destruction through policies that prioritised foreign investment, "development" loans, and infrastructure projects over the lives of those in the mountains. The same pattern we have exposed across India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan is operating here. The globalist machine needs Nepal's rivers, its hydropower, its strategic location between China and India, and its people as a cheap, disposable labour force. What has happened in Rasuwa is part of this same plan. The hydropower rush in the Himalayan rivers has destabilised the slopes. Roads are carved through unstable geology without proper engineering, funded by development banks that demand Nepal remain a debtor nation. Forests are stripped. The people are told to accept "progress." Then the rains come, engineered or not, and the mountain comes down. The state calls it a natural disaster. The media says "pray for Nepal." And the same companies that pushed the projects arrive later for the "reconstruction." Nepal's tragedy is that its people have been taught to see themselves as victims of geography. They are victims of governance. The same globalist networks that are flooding Assam, burning Europe, shaking Turkey and Japan, and bulldozing Palestine are now tightening their grip on the Himalayas. Nepal is a key piece on that board. Its government has signed the agreements. The land has been mapped, zoned, and mortgaged. The people are in the way. I will not pretend that a single, tidy "plan" explains every layer of corruption in Nepal. But I will say this clearly: the flood and landslide did not have to be fatal. The deaths are the result of decades of deliberate neglect, of state capture by local and foreign oligarchs, and of an economic model that treats the mountains and their people as resources to be extracted rather than lives to be protected. The people of Nepal deserve more than prayers. They deserve the truth. That truth is that their government has failed them, and the same invisible system that is devastating the rest of the world is now using their rivers, their mountains, and their grief as fuel. The prayer posts will fade. The system will remain. Unless the people of Nepal, and of every targeted nation, choose to stop accepting the lie that the land is their enemy. The land is not the enemy. The land has been betrayed. The monsoon is the trigger. The real weapon was wielded long before the rain came.show more

Ganesha is not made of Plaster of Paris. You... cannot insult a stone. The real insult is to your own consciousness. Man is the only animal who is absurd. He prays to the river, then poisons it. He worships the idol, then drowns it in filth. This is schizophrenia. The true temple is the river, the air, the earth. You spend 11 days in celebration, but where is the meditation? Where is the silence? The DJ and the alcohol are your escapes. The idol is just a toy. If you want to respect Ganesha, respect existence. Clean the river, not just the statue. That would be true prayer. The Idol, the River, and the Hypocrisy: Drowning the Divine in Filth : The Real Insult to Ganesha. The post raises a troubling question, but the answer lies not in theology, but in constitutional morality. Article 25 guarantees the freedom of religion, but it is expressly subject to "public order, morality, and health." Article 21 guarantees the right to a clean environment. When an idol made of Plaster of Paris and toxic chemical dyes is dumped into a river, it is not an act of faith; it is an environmental tort. The Supreme Court and the NGT have laid down clear guidelines mandating eco-friendly clay idols and designated immersion sites. The "absurdity" is not the ritual itself, but the willful disregard of the law that protects the very water we call sacred. Let us be brutally honest. The top comment is not an insult to Ganesha; it is a mirror held up to a society that has lost its way. The law is no respecter of religious sentiments when they become a public nuisance. If you spend lakhs on an idol, drink alcohol, dance to loud DJs, and then treat the river as a garbage dump, you are not practicing religion—you are committing a public wrong. The "Polluter Pays" principle must apply with full force to pandals, municipalities, and individuals alike. The real insult is not the immersion; it is the sheer hypocrisy of poisoning the environment in the name of God. Enforce the law, or stop pretending we are a civilized society. What is an individual? Can we accept the idea... that an individual is not an isolated being, but a totality of traits, ideas, and deeds that arise within humanity, are shaped by it, and return to it? Every human being is a temporary form through which humanity expresses a part of itself. : The author redefines the individual not as an isolated entity but as a transient expression of humanity itself: a unique constellation of traits, ideas, and deeds that emerge from the collective, are molded by it, and ultimately return to enrich it. Each person serves as a temporary vessel through which humanity manifests and explores its own nature. This dissolves the illusion of absolute separateness, revealing every life as an integral thread in the living fabric of humankind. It portrays individuality as both gift and responsibility: a fleeting opportunity to contribute distinct value to the whole. The concept elevates personal existence to a sacred role in humanity’s continuous self-creation. It leads to recognition that our thoughts, actions, and choices ripple beyond the self, shaping the shared human story. Ultimately, framing every individual as both creation and co-creator of humanity’s evolving essence, bound in profound interdependence.show more

When Mulayam's government tried to organise namaz on the... steps of the mahant's house in Ayodhya, pressing right up against Hanuman Garhi, a police officer threw away the first mat the moment it was placed. That officer was doing his job in a government that was actively working against him. An IG Zone above him had already said he would organise the event on the roof of the temple if he could. The political machinery of the state was pushing one way. That officer and that SSP were pushing the other. Brijlal documented what happened inside the mahant's residence that day. Idols of Ganesh and other deities were desecrated during the Iftaar. This is what SP governance looked like at its most unguarded. Not a fringe incident. A government-organised political operation at one of Hinduism's most sacred sites that ended with the desecration of Hindu deities.
