3I Atlas just flew past Mars—And it’s getting closer!... 3I/ATLAS, only the third interstellar visitor ever spotted in our Solar System. It swung closest to Mars on October 3, 2025 (~29 million km from Mars) and is racing toward the Sun for perihelion around October 29–30 (≈ 1.36–1.4 AU). At that point it’ll be ripping along at ~68 km/s. Afterward, it passes 0.65 AU from Venus (Nov 3) and makes its closest approach to Earth on December 19 at ~1.8 AU—far, but perfect for telescopes. How to watch: This won’t be a naked-eye show. Think astrophotography target: dark skies, telescope or long-lens + tracking, and stacked exposures. It’ll be tough through solar glare until after perihelion; December is when ground scopes get their best shot as it pulls away from the Sun. @europeanspaceagency already grabbed a time-lapse from Mars orbit—your final scene. Keep an eye out for its weird “backwards” dust stream (anti-tail): heavier grains pushed out by the comet’s own activity can line up sunward, while the classic ion/dust tail points away from the Sun. In case you were not aware, most UFOs are... "nuclear powered" by compact-fusion reactions. I know the physics, they showed us in crops, but have done only six months of preliminary work using argon gas. Basically we need 40 to 50 kV of DC power, and a big AC electromagnet. Deuterium gas gets ionized, then rushes back and forward like clothes in a washing machine. This creates many head-on collisions with less heat, than in "standard" fusion reactors. 🚨 NASA IS ABOUT TO LET A PRIVATE SPACECRAFT... RESCUE ONE OF ITS MOST IMPORTANT TELESCOPES. The Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory has been hunting gamma-ray bursts the most powerful explosions in the universe since 2004. It’s still working perfectly, but Earth’s atmosphere has been slowly dragging it down toward a fiery reentry. Now, NASA is turning to a commercial company to save it. Katalyst Space Technologies’ robotic spacecraft Link will launch later this month, rendezvous with Swift, dock with it, and boost the telescope into a higher, safer orbit extending its life by years. Why this matters: • It’s the first time a private spacecraft will perform an orbital boost on a U.S. government science satellite • Swift remains one of the best tools we have for studying gamma-ray bursts and other high-energy cosmic events • Without this mission, the telescope could have deorbited as early as this year • It shows how commercial space companies are now capable of performing complex servicing missions that were once only possible for governments The deeper implication: We’re entering a new era where valuable scientific infrastructure in orbit doesn’t have to be considered disposable.
