Did you know you can create the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution... with just some balls and a motor? I built this simple device to illustrate it. This is how it works: A spinning agitator pumps energy into ~400 balls, so they bounce around and collide like gas particles in a box. They escape one at a time through a tiny hole, then fall a fixed gap into bins below. Since the hole is so small, every ball leaves with no vertical speed and takes the same time to fall. Constant fall time means how far a ball flies sideways is set purely by its speed. A faster ball goes into a further bin. So each bin is really a speed. Tally all 400 and you get the Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution.show more

I think it’s about time I hire a packer.... It’s getting really difficult to keep up with all the packing. The problem is, I’m kind of stuck right now. I have little ones at home, so I really don’t want someone coming into my garage to work. At the same time, I’m not at the level yet where I can justify leasing a small warehouse. So I’m between a rock and a hard place. For those of you who’ve been through this stage, what did you do? Any ideas to help me speed this up and get by until I’m ready for a small warehouse?show more

Einstein’s wildest theory wasn't that time flows. It’s that... time is a physical fabric, and you can warp it. According to his equations, the future is not a distant destination, it is a speed limit. If you move fast enough through space, your clock slows down while the rest of the world rushes ahead. You don't need a time machine to reach the future. You just need enough speed to leap into it.show more

This Wyatt Langford catch from yesterday is a great... example of why catch probability is good to know. Just a 45% catch probability here. Why? Any MLB outfielder catches this ball if they get there. Most can't get there. Langford's jump is elite, +8.7 feet above the average outfielder. The jump is so good he doesn't even have to get up to top speed. This is just a routine double into the gap much of the time, and the TV viewer thinks nothing of it:show more

High school students built an autonomous ball-collecting robot! 🎾... A group of high school students built a robot that picks up balls and shoots them into a bin while moving without stopping, with impressive speed and accuracy. It combines mechanical design, sensors, and software making constant adjustments in real time while the robot is driving. When teenagers can build systems this sophisticated, the talent pipeline for the robotics industry is accelerating! ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →show more

I'll say it again: Bear markets do not fall.... They chop, then they fall. Bitcoin has run this exact sequence twice. Sideways relief, then a leg down. $124,000 into $84,000. $96,000 into $60,000. We are in the third sideways stretch right now at $62,454. It feels like the floor. It felt like the floor the last two times as well. Two is not a law. I know that. But if it goes a third time, the high $40,000s is where this bear finally ends.show more

This is an oldie but ever so applicable with... summer coming to a close in the northern hemisphere. That rough around the greens is healthy and happy. Try this if you are less than 2 feet into the rough. It’s a great escape shot to have in your arsenal! Ball behind trail foot / Putter delofted to project the ball INTO the turf / You’ll typically hit this shot softer than you might anticipate / Ball will pop up and over the rough before landing in the fringe and trickling up to the hole. Give it a go!show more

Russell Westbrook holds the fastest ever recorded speed while... dribbling the ball since tracking began at 21.9 mph. You watch this, and you're like, "yeahhhhhh man," Bro is Bolt with a ball!show more

For my money it was always impact to waist... high past the ball with Hogan. So distinct and beautiful! If you can drag the handle this far past the ball and still have speed you are going to need a lot of sunscreen! There’s no shade out in the middle !show more

I used to wonder how they manage to distribute... ifṭār to such huge crowds in the Haram, and how the long rows of food never fall into chaos. Then I realized everything is carefully planned and thoughtfully designed. With a simple and smart technique, they cover vast areas in a very short time. The problem with defensive awareness is that most players... watch basketball like this... They only follow the ball. They watch it like a fan and not to get better. Which is unfortunately what highlights, mixtapes, and short clips ingrain the habit to be. Then when they step on the floor, no wonder they can't see the ball and their man, let alone everything else - they've only focused on one thing at a time. The first step to changing defensive awareness, is changing how players consume the game. Awareness is a habit. And habits can be developed. Full breakdown out now:show more

You buy a multimillion dollar home on a nice... quiet lake so you can live a nice peaceful life! Or so you thought. Turns out your neighbor is a good time guy with a loud speed boat who loves to rip it up on the water daily. This is not what you had in mind and is ruining the experience for you. Should you have done more research on the rules of the lake like “no wake” zones or spent more time seeing what kind of boats went by?! Or should you learn to live with it knowing you bought a lake front property and boats are allowed.show more

This is a textbook example of why the "ball... to hand" rule exists. According to IFAB Law 12, a handball is not an offense if the ball is hit on the hand or arm directly from a teammate’s kick or header at close range. Vitinha smashed the ball into Neves from point-blank range and so, it is classified as “unpreventable contact”, the rule is superseded by proximity. Neves has zero reaction time to move his arm when the ball is coming off a teammate’s foot from two yards away. There’s also the fact that it was a defensive clearance and not an opponent's shot or a goal-bound ball, there is no "unfair advantage" gained. So, this wasn’t a pen, IMOshow more

A cool thing about Mario Kart World is that... getting hit is heavily physics-based. This means you won't get hit the same way every time, and you'll retain some momentum instead of coming to a complete stop. If you're lucky you can hit a vehicle at full speed and come off fine.show more

A lot of hitters confuse being late with letting... the ball get deep. They’re not the same thing. In this video I show it with a simple example. I toss the ball and reach way out in front of me to catch it. That’s what late looks like. The ball already beat you… now you’re chasing it with your hands. Then I toss another one and catch it slightly behind me. That’s being on time and letting the ball get deep. When you’re late, your body and barrel are reacting after the ball passes your window. You’re forced to reach, cut across it, or roll it over. When you’re on time, you can let the ball travel and still control it. Now the barrel can stay through the zone longer, and you can drive it with authority. Deep ≠ late. Good hitters aren’t reaching for the ball… they’re on time enough to let it come to them. ⚾️ Train with an expert. Not an influencer.show more

HANDLE THE BALL AGAINST PRESSURE This clip is a... masterclass in handling the ball against pressure. Most players think that the more moves they make, the better BallHandler they are. In reality, a players ability to Start-Go-Stop is what makes them productive. Do you have a starting move that can get you downhill. On that ‘go’ can you be in control under pressure. Then, do you have the ability to stop to create separation, and be comfortable in a face up so that you can make a decision and play.show more
