Sorry, I’m drunk: We don’t have many “little steps”... left to take or make. We won’t be together much longer. She will be taken; though I’ve known it for years, it doesn’t hurt less. She shined in an incredible way – a supernova. I was black-pilled after a terrible divorce complete w/ false accusations & later this woman came along; I was slow to trust & bitter but she made the world bright again. She made me smile. She gave me hope & something to come home to. I think that’s what most men aspire to…something to come home to, some family unit to serve & sacrifice for. I put my own life below my children’s, and below my wife or partner. I will suffer whatever I must for their benefit, and I’ll take satisfaction in doing it. In a weird way, it will make me happy. She is far more than I deserve & now she is wasting away…and I can’t do anything about it, no matter how much I work or suffer. Part of me – maybe a large part – will go with her. I will soldier on for the kids, but she was so beautiful & bright…that light will be gone & I’m not sure what’s left. Now she struggles to get out of bed. Can’t eat besides a bag of liquids hooked to a pump & tube, either. Which is only one of three tubes & bags. Cancer is devouring her. She weighs 80 pounds. She’s still beautiful. I will be lost without her; no purpose or rudder. I was going to show her the world & how to have spontaneous adventures…she’d started learning to non-rev & we made good use of it, but it’s not to be. Having one of the worst days of my life!... Leela got rushed to emergency vets last night, she started falling over then had partial paralysis on one side then both. Had CT scans today, I’ve had to collect her and drive across to another County, for a more specialised hospital. She’s got to have emergency decompression spinal surgery. I can’t stop crying. It’s got nothing to do with her operation she had Monday this is separate. Insurance company will not payout either as they say she’s used her allowance. I’ve had to pay £2300 for CT scans and now £6600 for her operation including an MRI, so the surgeon can know exactly where to cut through. I’d sell my kidney if I had to though, she’s my baby. Watching her trying to walk and dragging her legs is a memory I’m never going to get out of my head. Our dogs are our life. I’m totally in bits 😭😭 There are obvious risks with her operation and I’m terrified.show more

Rosie passed on Saturday 4 weeks ago Rose had... surgery that resulted in her cancer coming out of remission. By last Saturday her little body was very close to having enough - with rapidly expanding tumours all over her rear end She was in pain and starting to become a different dog to the one I knew and loved On Saturday, I made the very sad decision to put Rose to sleep It was the hardest decision of my life and Rose fought all the way to the end. I lost some of my faith in people yesterday.... Do you all remember this story of the woman we found on the road carrying a dead child? Around 3pm yesterday while I was at the hospital, I got a call from Ope Ola Grace. She sounded really confused. I asked what’s wrong then she said she saw this woman at Lafenwa begging for alms among the beggars. I told her to wait there and make sure she doesn’t leave, that I am on my way to confirm with my eyes because it can’t be possible. I got there with Seeker of Truth and it was indeed true. I couldn’t believe what I saw. How’s this possible?? We set up a business worth around N300k for her last December, gave her money, gave her husband extra money to keep. Enrolled her kids (all 3 of them) in school, supplied all needed school materials for one year. Bought at least 3 months worth of food supply for them as well. The Hon Commissioner for women affairs Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye also sent delegates to her with lots of needed items; 25kg bags of rice twice in the last 5 months, 10 crates of soft drink for the wife in January. The commissioner also made sure that her husband was among the 100 beneficiaries of the N100,000 disability grant of the RHI shared on the 17th of April by First Lady Remi Tinubu in Abeokuta. This is Bertha - and this is exactly the... situation I have been struggling with. She was my first cow purchase. Bought her as a milk cow and then soon learned she was mostly past time for being a good milk cow. She’s about 14 or 15 years old. Still gives a calf each year but her time for a natural end is coming quickly. Many would take her to the sale barn, receive some money for her. It’s difficult to explain but that feels wrong - it’s not, but it feels terrible. So at this point she will likely live her life out here, she’ll serve as a lead cow (she’s really not great for that either), but she will do okay. She means a lot to me and I just don’t want to think of her at auction or otherwise being transported somewhere away from this farm. But for Somalis living abroad, things can get complicated. I remember when I was a kid, my mother’s best friend lost her husband. Instead of wearing white like she would have back home, she wore black. I was confused because it did not seem right, so I asked her about it. She told me that because they were living in a diaspora community, wearing white would just confuse the people around her. Her neighbors would not understand why someone who was mourning would be dressed in white clothes. In the place where they lived, black was what people expected to see when someone had died. So, to avoid having to explain herself or having people misunderstand her grief, she decided to wear black instead. For her, wearing black was the easier choice, it let her mourn without having to constantly explain why she was not dressed the way people in her new surroundings thought she should be.show more
