🇮🇱Elbit Systems is developing an airborne high-power laser interception... system as the next generation of air defense following the Iron Beam. The system is planned to be installed on fighter aircraft or helicopters and will be able to intercept incoming missiles and drones outside Israel’s airspace. Compared with ground-based laser systems, it offers greater mobility and the ability to engage targets both above and below cloud cover. The core technology combines multiple fiber lasers into a single high-power laser source, while enabling stable airborne targeting and precise engagement. Its accuracy has been described as “hitting a coin from 10 kilometers away.” Israel aims to eventually establish a squadron of laser-equipped aircraft that could rapidly take off during large-scale attacks and use low-cost laser interceptions to neutralize large numbers of incoming threats. The capability is expected to gradually become operational within the next few years. source:show more

wow. This is insane A Nobel laureate claims his... high‑pulse laser system could unlock safe, uranium‑free fusion and power hundreds of thousands of homes if prototypes succeed 🤯! Shuji Nakamura, a nobel price winning physicist who invented the blue LED, is now leading Blue Laser Fusion, a company aiming to make commercial nuclear fusion a reality. Nakamura estimates that about 99.5% of fusion research has focused on magnetic confinement, while his team is pursuing the remaining 0.5% through advanced laser technology. At the heart of the concept is OEC, an Optical Enhancement Cavity that stores high-energy laser pulses and can amplify them by up to 100,000×. According to the team, this could provide precise control over the fusion process while improving efficiency and reducing engineering risks. Researchers at the UCSB compare the system to a hammer and an anvil: the laser acts as the hammer that strikes the hydrogen fuel target, while the optical chamber acts as the anvil, storing and regulating the laser energy needed to initiate fusion. If development stays on schedule, Blue Laser Fusion plans to build a 1-gigawatt pilot fusion power plant near Santa Barbara by 2032, capable of supplying electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes. Nakamura's blue LED transformed energy-efficient lighting around the world. As per the International Energy Agency, if older lighting technologies were still used, global indoor lighting electricity consumption would be about 70% higher, while the electricity saved by LEDs is comparable to the power consumption of South Korea. Now, Nakamura hopes to make an even bigger impact through Blue Laser Fusion by developing virtually limitless, zero-carbon fusion energy that could transform how the world powers homes, industry and future technologies.show more

🚨🚨 THIS WEAPON JUST CHANGED WARFARE FOREVER Israel just... deployed the Iron Beam in LIVE COMBAT for the first time in history. It's a laser. A literal laser that shoots down missiles and drones out of the sky. Cost per Iron Dome interceptor: $50,000 Cost per Iron Beam shot: $3.50 Three dollars and fifty cents. → It fires at the speed of light — there is no dodging it → It never runs out of ammunition — as long as it has electricity, it fires → It's already integrated into Israel's layered air defense system → It just intercepted incoming projectiles in the middle of a war → Iran fired 5 missile barrages in 7 hours — the Iron Beam didn't flinch This is why the Patriot interceptor crisis doesn't matter anymore. Ukraine burned through 600 Patriot interceptors in 1,460 days. The Iran war burned through 800 in just 3 DAYS. That rate is unsustainable. You can't manufacture interceptors fast enough. But a laser? Unlimited shots. Near-zero cost. Speed of light. Iran spent decades building a missile arsenal designed to overwhelm traditional air defense through sheer volume. Fire 1,000 missiles, hope 50 get through. That strategy just DIED. When a laser costs $3.50 per shot, it doesn't matter if you fire 1,000 or 10,000. Every single one gets burned out of the sky. This isn't just a weapon. It's the end of the missile age.show more

❗️Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Ukraine... will not be able to surpass Russia in terms of the scale of funding or the number of personnel, but will prevail thanks to new technologies. According to him, during the latest massive attack on Kyiv, Ukrainian air defense intercepted 95% of the “Shahed” drones. With a full fleet of F-16s and a sufficient number of missiles, it would be able to intercept 80–90% of cruise missiles. In May, interceptor drones destroyed nearly 7,000 enemy UAVs. Ten Ukrainian companies are already testing cheap interceptor missiles, preparations for winter are underway, and laser air defense systems are being tested. Each square kilometer of Russian advance costs the Russian military 400 killed.show more

🧐🇦🇪🇫🇷 The Most Advanced Mirage Ever Built Wasn't French... When people think of the Mirage 2000, they think of France. But the most powerful and sophisticated version of this legendary fighter was built for the United Arab Emirates. Meet the Mirage 2000-9. Far more than a simple upgrade, the Mirage 2000-9 incorporated technologies developed for the Rafale, transforming the iconic fighter into one of the most capable 4th generation combat aircraft ever produced. Powered by the M53-P2 engine and equipped with the advanced RDY-2 multimode radar, the aircraft can simultaneously track multiple targets while conducting air to air and air to ground missions. Its arsenal is formidable: • MICA EM active radar guided air to air missiles • MICA IR infrared guided air to air missiles • Magic II short range air to air missiles • Black Shaheen long range cruise missiles • Laser guided bombs • Precision guided munitions • Conventional bombs • Air to surface missiles • Anti ship weapons • 30mm DEFA cannons The Mirage 2000-9 is also equipped with an advanced electronic warfare and self protection suite, allowing it to detect, jam, and evade enemy threats while operating deep inside contested airspace. With a combat radius stretching hundreds of kilometers and the ability to strike targets with precision, the aircraft became one of the most capable fighters in the Middle East. For years, it quietly stood as one of the region's most powerful air combat platforms, proof that even a design born in the 1970s could evolve into a world-class fighter. The Mirage 2000-9 wasn't just the final Mirage. It was the ultimate Mirage.show more

The competition between strike systems and air defense/interceptor systems... continues to evolve on both sides. In response to Russia’s growing use of jet-powered Geran-4 loitering munitions and Geran-5/Banderol cruise missiles, Ukraine has begun developing jet-powered interceptor drones. The aim is to address a class of faster aerial threats that can be difficult for conventional propeller-driven interceptors to engage. Ukraine has also used Bars jet-powered drones in at least one strike campaign against Moscow. Their numbers are still believed to be limited, with propeller-driven drones making up the majority of Ukraine’s long-range strike fleet. This highlights a broader issue for Russia: the need to develop and deploy compact interceptor drones before faster targets become more widespread. The challenge is not simply intercepting them, but doing so economically. Traditional air-defense systems and MANPADS can engage such targets, but using them against relatively inexpensive strike drones can be difficult to justify economically. One potentially relevant example comes from Iran. Several years ago, Iran developed and deployed the 358 missile, a specialized system intended to engage UAVs. It is a subsonic weapon with a reported speed of around 700 km/h, an infrared seeker, and a turbojet engine, with a claimed engagement range of up to 100 km. Its design reflects a different approach to countering relatively slow aerial targets, without relying on the speed and cost associated with conventional high-performance surface-to-air missiles. The missile has demonstrated its effectiveness, having shot down a number of U.S. and Israeli UAVs. This is not necessarily an argument for simply copying the 358. The more important point is anticipating what types of drones may be heading toward Russian cities in the future and developing an interceptor that is capable of engaging them while remaining cheaper than the strike systems it is designed to counter.show more
