🇮🇱Elbit Systems is developing an airborne high-power laser interception... system as the next generation of air defense following the Iron Beam. The system is planned to be installed on fighter aircraft or helicopters and will be able to intercept incoming missiles and drones outside Israel’s airspace. Compared with ground-based laser systems, it offers greater mobility and the ability to engage targets both above and below cloud cover. The core technology combines multiple fiber lasers into a single high-power laser source, while enabling stable airborne targeting and precise engagement. Its accuracy has been described as “hitting a coin from 10 kilometers away.” Israel aims to eventually establish a squadron of laser-equipped aircraft that could rapidly take off during large-scale attacks and use low-cost laser interceptions to neutralize large numbers of incoming threats. The capability is expected to gradually become operational within the next few years. source:show more

Israel is taking the Iron Beam laser to the... skies. Following the launch of the land based Iron Beam, Elbit Systems has secured a major contract to integrate high-power airborne laser systems, XCalibur pods on fighter jets and Sting systems on helicopters. This next-generation directed energy weapon will intercept drones and missiles mid-flight at extremely low cost, giving the Israeli Air Force unprecedented aerial dominance. Big news. South Korean government has unveiled the 'Laser... based Anti-Aircraft Weapon Block-I' for the first time, and it's awesome footage. it's about to deploy it to the Army very soon. It's a 20kW class fiber laser system with a proper size and cost that can be placed easily. Korea's high-ranking research centers are now developing ultra high-power femto laser plasma technology for laser weapons systems. Block-III is also being developed, which is also applicable to military ships as naval versions and plans to have anti-ballistic missile capabilities. This will ensure Korea's low altitude defense along with the '40mm Automated Air Defense System', LAMD-I, LAMD-II, and CIWS-II.show more

🇺🇦🇷🇺UKRAINE SAYS A NEW LASER WEAPON COULD ENTER SERVICE... WITHIN MONTHS. Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Lebedenko says Kyiv expects to field a laser system capable of destroying aerial targets more effectively than machine guns within the next two to three months. The new directed-energy weapon is designed to intercept drones and other airborne threats with far greater precision, speed, and efficiency than conventional gun-based systems. If deployed successfully, the system could significantly strengthen Ukraine’s short-range air defense network, reducing ammunition costs and giving frontline units a powerful new tool against increasingly frequent drone attacks. 🇷🇺🔥 Russian combat laser destroys drone at 1.5 km... distance in tests 🔸The working distance of the Posokh laser system developed by LazerBuzz company has been increased by 0.5 km, its developers state, with a fixed-wing FPV UAV successfully destroyed during a mock attack. 🔸The Posokh system is a Russian laser weapon designed to combat aerial targets to protect industrial and critical infrastructure facilities. 🔸It has an integrated radar system and can destroy targets in less than 0.5 seconds, including in automatic mode. 🔸The system operates by physically impacting the UAV based on focused ytterbium laser radiation technology, with the ray power reaching 80kW.show more

Israel does it again!! Information was released today that... the Israel Air Defense Forces (IAF) successfully intercepted dozens of enemy air targets using combat laser systems for the first time during the war. The development of laser air defense systems is being conducted by RAFAEL and the Research and Development Department of the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The systems used in combat operations demonstrated a high interception success rate, thus protecting the lives of Israeli civilians and vital infrastructure. Israel Defense Minister Katz welcomes the laser system's operational launch: "It will change the rules of the game in the region—our enemies should fear not only the capabilities we have already developed but also the capabilities we are developing now." This is, as the cool kids say, DOPE!show more

wow. This is insane A Nobel laureate claims his... high‑pulse laser system could unlock safe, uranium‑free fusion and power hundreds of thousands of homes if prototypes succeed 🤯! Shuji Nakamura, a nobel price winning physicist who invented the blue LED, is now leading Blue Laser Fusion, a company aiming to make commercial nuclear fusion a reality. Nakamura estimates that about 99.5% of fusion research has focused on magnetic confinement, while his team is pursuing the remaining 0.5% through advanced laser technology. At the heart of the concept is OEC, an Optical Enhancement Cavity that stores high-energy laser pulses and can amplify them by up to 100,000×. According to the team, this could provide precise control over the fusion process while improving efficiency and reducing engineering risks. Researchers at the UCSB compare the system to a hammer and an anvil: the laser acts as the hammer that strikes the hydrogen fuel target, while the optical chamber acts as the anvil, storing and regulating the laser energy needed to initiate fusion. If development stays on schedule, Blue Laser Fusion plans to build a 1-gigawatt pilot fusion power plant near Santa Barbara by 2032, capable of supplying electricity to hundreds of thousands of homes. Nakamura's blue LED transformed energy-efficient lighting around the world. As per the International Energy Agency, if older lighting technologies were still used, global indoor lighting electricity consumption would be about 70% higher, while the electricity saved by LEDs is comparable to the power consumption of South Korea. Now, Nakamura hopes to make an even bigger impact through Blue Laser Fusion by developing virtually limitless, zero-carbon fusion energy that could transform how the world powers homes, industry and future technologies.show more
