Android vs. iOS app quality difference [Part 8] This... one is about two highly-requested media apps: Spotify and Netflix. Netflix is miles better on iOS, but Spotify is about the same in my opinion because each version has one extra feature that's absent on the other. Netflix: - Netflix on iOS has a very modern design. Cool animations while logging in, and 3D parallax effect on the main title shown on the homepage. Nothing like this on the Android version. - You can use gestures to navigate the titles as shown in the video, and it's coupled with cool animations. Absent on the Android app. Spotify: - On the iOS app, you can use swipe up/down gestures to navigate between the mini-player and main music player UI. Can't do that on Android. - However, on the Android app, you can like a song directly from the notification panel - which is very useful. You can add a song you like to your Liked playlist directly without having to open the app. I believe this is on Apple alone, since they don't allow adding shortcuts like that to media player. In their OxygenOS 16 keynote, OnePlus rigged the animation... test against One UI. Shameful. They intentionally used navigation buttons, then entered a full screen app where the buttons got hidden, then kept pressing on an empty spot — and pretended that it’s lagging. 💀 One UI 8 is peak Android experience right now. One UI, including One UI 8.5, has a long-standing... issue with the back gesture: lag. My finger moves, but the animation lags and doesn't follow the finger's response. This puts it behind all other OSes. Comparing One UI 8.5 with vivo's OriginOS5 and OriginOS6 reveals that Samsung's gesture response is the slowest, and I haven't been able to resolve the issue with Home Up. Samsung needs to optimize this. Another problem is that the icons in Samsung's animation are too ugly when they are shrunk. The icons are forcibly stretched to cover the page. Samsung borrowed this from OriginOS 5 at the time, but vivo fixed the problem in OriginOS6, and Samsung One UI 8.5 still has no improvement.show more

Scroll-triggered animations are coming to Chrome early next year... (and we've been really excited about this one for a bit!) 🥳 Unlike scroll-driven animations (already in Chrome & Safari), this API introduces "timeline-trigger" and "animation-trigger" to start an animation within a specific range, rather than relying on the scroller completion *as* the animation timeline. If typing fast in your app feels like wading... through mud, you need useNativeState. Every TextField in RN has felt slightly off for years; Expo UI just shipped the fix with the new useNativeState hook. Instead of trying to keep the native input and react state in sync on each keystroke, useNativeState handles the state completely on the native side. iOS vs. Android app quality difference. I don’t get... why devs discriminate even in little things like this. - On WhatsApp for iOS, you can swipe left on a message to quickly see delivered, read, and voice message heard status. Very useful in group chats. - On WhatsApp for Android you have to tap and hold the message, select 3-dots, then select Info to see the same thing. I get it when devs can’t put iOS’s design language or animation quality in their Android apps, but things like these should be pretty easy to implement. Maybe it’s because they thought this gesture might interfere with Android’s back gesture, but I believe there’s a clear distinction between swiping from the edge and swiping in the middle of a message.show more

Here are the steps to create this animation: 1.... Design and model your own mech in Plasticity. 2. Import the model into the animation software 3ds Max. 3. Create the animation on your own. 4. Render and export the monochrome model animation. 5. Make the final render for reference. 6. Use Seedance 2 to re-render your monochrome model animation according to the reference render you provided. Summary: In this workflow, Seedance 2 acts as a renderer that saves you hours of rendering time. All other work has to be done manually by yourself. Don’t blindly believe that AI can fully produce mech animations for you — it simply cannot do that.show more

⚽ Day 44 of building my soccer/football game solo... in Unreal Engine. Tonight, we solved an animation bug that was occuring when blending animations together. Can you spot the difference between the two animation clips (right drag back versus left drag back? 🐛BUG: All animations rotated the player mesh (character body), but the capsule underneath (invisible box) never turned at all. 🎞️At the end of the animation, you'd see the player facing the direction where the animation begun on frame 0, then flick to where I was moving the left analog stick. This was resolved with a tool I built which moves the rotation to the invisible box instead. The same animations play, but now the game knows that the character's capsule has turned with an animation. #indiedev #gamedev #soccer #football #unrealengineshow more
