A public prosecutor attached to the City Civil and... Sessions Court in Bengaluru was caught red-handed by the Karnataka Lokayukta Police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a complainant on Monday. The accused,has been identified as, Savitha Naveen Patil, 55, serving as Public Prosecutor at CCH-54, Bengaluru, was allegedly demanding a bribe to submit objections in Case registered at the Chennamanakere Achukattu Police Station. The complainant, Manjunath, 40, a resident of Banashankari, approached the Lokayukta alleging that the prosecutor had demanded Rs. 5,000 to carry out the official work. Based on the complaint, Lokayukta Police registered Case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. ACB Seizes Crores in Cash During Raid on Nizamabad... Municipal Superintendent In a significant operation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), a staggering amount of cash and assets were uncovered during a raid on the residence of Dasari Narendar, the Superintendent and in-charge Revenue Officer at the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation. The raid, conducted as part of a case registered against Narendar for Disproportionate Assets, revealed assets far exceeding his known sources of income. During the search, the ACB discovered Rs. 2.93 crore in cash stashed in his house, along with a bank balance totaling Rs. 1.10 crore in accounts held by Narendar, his wife, and his mother. Additionally, 51 tolas of gold worth Rs. 6 lakh and 17 immovable properties valued at Rs. 1.98 crore were seized. The total value of the assets seized so far amounts to approximately Rs. 6.07 crore. The case against Narendar falls under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, specifically Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2), which deal with the acquisition of assets disproportionate to known sources of income through corrupt practices. He assembled a team and laid a trap, resulting in his team detaining three individuals in the Kongaon area. Upon searching them, mobile phones, debit cards, credit cards, and cash were recovered; additionally, four TET question papers, intended for use tomorrow, were seized from their possession. These papers were verified by senior officers from the Education Department, who confirmed they were indeed the actual papers scheduled for the exam. Consequently, the three individuals were taken into custody, a formal case was registered, and the 'panchnama' was drawn up. Further investigation is currently underway. 🚨From Crores in Cash to Gold Hoards: CBI unearths... a sprawling Ecosystem of Corruption within the AG office, Manipur. 📌 This morning (18.11.2025), A Senior Accounts Officer, Irom Bishorjit Singh was caught red handed & arrested by the CBI while demanding & accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in lieu of getting an MACP file cleared. Investigation is continuing & searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused. 📍Earlier in February 1, 2020, another Senior Accountant, Yumnam Sarat was arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (India) following a raid at his Wangkhei Angom Leikai residence as well as his office. According to CBI, he had amassed disproportionate assets to the tune of ₹ 1,40,37,387 between 2010 & 2019. During the search at Wangkhei Angom Leikai, a large number of bank passbooks, 78 pension books, ATM cards, cheque book, documents of immoveable properties, insurance documents & cash amounting to ₹ 31,14,710 & multiple gold ornaments were seized. 📌 During interrogation, Sarat admitted that he had purchased a three storey RCC building at Wangkhei Angom Leikai at ₹ 1,19,00,000 crore in 2016. He also admitted that he also bought another multi-storey RCC building which was still under construction at Hafiz Hatta, New checkon. 📍On October 16, 2020, the CBI also carried out a similar raid at the residence of another Senior Accountant, Konjengbam Ibothem & recovered incriminating materials from his residence & office, including ₹54,45,930 in cash, 63 tola & one san of gold jewellery, 130 pension passbooks, 185 bank passbooks, 127 ATM cards, 124 cheque books, 10 sale deeds, two gift deeds, one mortgage deed & 18 Jamabandi documents, among other items. According to the CBI chargesheet, Ibothem, while serving as Senior Accounts Officer in the office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Manipur, was found in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income amounting to ₹3,54,47,233 for the period between August 1, 2005 & September 30, 2020. 📌 As part of a follow up probe into related cases, CBI raided another residence of senior Account officer Budichandra Naorem in Imphal & recovered Rs 5 lakh in cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh, land purchase documents, among others from the Uripok Ahanthem Leikai.show more

The body of a 28-year-old journalist was found in... a septic tank on the premises of a contractor whom he had recently exposed for corruption in #Chhattisgarh. #MukeshChandrakar, who worked with a local news channel, was found dead on January 3 in #Bijapur district. Mukesh, who had been missing since the night of January 1, recently conducted an investigation against contractor #SureshChandrakar, exposing alleged irregularities in a Rs 120-crore road construction project in #Bastar. The expose had prompted the government to initiate an enquiry into the contractor's activities. Mukesh's elder brother, #YukeshChandrakar, filed a missing person report after his phone remained switched off following a meeting arranged by Suresh Chandrakar's brother, Ritesh, at one of the contractor's properties. On January 3, Mukesh's body was discovered inside the water tank on the premises of Suresh's property in Chattanpara, where he was last seen. "The victim's brother informed us that Mukesh had been missing since January 1. We initiated action, scanned CCTV footage and also found his last location. We found Mukesh's dead body inside a tank in the evening today," a senior police official said. The police acted swiftly, arresting Suresh Chandrakar from #Hyderabad and Ritesh from #Delhi, sources said. One labourer who helped in getting rid of the body has also been arrested. Several suspects, including those from the contractor's circle, are being questioned, police said.show more

The 35-year-old man, who was arrested for raping a... seven-year-old girl and inserting iron in her private parts, was booked for attempted murder after he attacked cops with a sickle and tried to escape on Wednesday night. The police fired in self-defense and two bullets hit the accused #Ramsingh's leg in the village of #Jasdan taluka where they had taken him for recovery of the rod. After recovering the rod from his field, the cops reached Ramsingh's house where he suddenly picked up a sickle and launched the attack which left Dharmesh Bavaliya, head constable with the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Rajkot Rural police, injured. HC Gohil and KM Chavda, both police sub-inspectors, fired from their service revolvers to prevent him from fleeing. Bavaliya suffered injuries in the chest and arm. The police control room was informed and both were first taken to KD. Parvadia Hospital in #Atkot for treatment and later shifted to the civil hospital in #Rajkot city late at night. Rajkot Rural superintendent of police (SP) Vijaysinh Gurjar had told reporters that the accused committed the sexual assault in about 10 minutes. He was familiar with the girl and her family, knowing that they were originally from #Dahod and had come here to work as farm labourers, Gurjar said. Police said the girl cried out during the assault, which agitated the accused, who then inserted the rod in her. Ramsingh is on police remand until December 15 in this rape case. Six Bangladesh nationals, including two minors, were detained at... Subhas Park in Tripura's Khowai district on Friday. Acting on a tip-off, Police raided a guest house and found that the six Bangladeshis were staying there. During preliminary interrogation, they made contradictory statements and could not provide any valid ID proof. The detainees later admitted to entering India illegally a month ago and travelling all the way up to New Delhi in search of work. They illegally got hold of Aadhaar, PAN and EPIC cards. In the meantime, about a month ago, Hon'ble Lieutenant-Governor Shri V.K. Saxena’s office intimated the Delhi Chief Secretary, Delhi Police Commissioner, and other Senior Officials, regarding a sudden spurt in the number of illegal immigrants in the national capital. The LG’s Office asked the Delhi Police Chief to conduct a special drive for one month for the identification of illegal immigrants and take further action in coordination with Central agencies. Following this, like many other illegal Bangladeshis & Rohingyas who fled the National Capital fearing identification and ultimately detention, these 6 illegal Bangladeshis too returned to Tripura to cross over to their home country but were caught. They have been identified by Tripura Police as Ayesa Khatun (70), Mohd Kabir (37), Tania Begum (35), Mumin (23), Mohd Sakib (6) and Sahida (5). All of them hail from Feni district in Bangladesh. Several Indian ID cards, which they had obtained fraudulently, were recovered from their possession. HISTORYSHEETER ROWDY ARRESTED; FAMILY ATTACKED POLICEMEN A 26-year-old history-sheeter... was arrested during a ganja raid in Pulianthope after police seized narcotic substances from his residence. Police also registered a separate case against his relatives for attacking officers during the operation. A video of the altercation later circulated on social media. Acting on a tip-off about the sale of ganj in the Pulianthope, a team from the Basin Bridge Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Krishnakumar and other personnel, conducted a raid on a house in Gandhi Nagar Fifth Street on Sunday night. The house belonged to Nandakumar, 26, who is listed as a history-sheeter by the police. During the search, officers seized 29 packets of ganja weighing a total of 10 grams and six syringes from the premises. Police said women present in the house initially objected to the search and attempted to prevent officers from carrying out the raid. After Nandakumar was arrested and police attempted to take him into custody, his mother and other female relatives assaulted the officers. According to police, the officers used force to protect themselves and bring the situation under control. A video showing the confrontation between police personnel and the family members subsequently went viral on social media platforms. Nandakumar was taken to the Basin Bridge Police Station, where a case was registered against him under relevant provisions relating to possession of narcotic substances. He was inquired further. In a related development, Nandakumar’s mother, Meena, went to the police station and demanded her son’s release. Police said she injured her wrist with a razor blade during the protest and argued with officers inside the station premises. She was later sent away after intervention by police personnel. The Basin Bridge police registered a separate case against Nandakumar’s relatives for obstructing and assaulting police personnel during the raid.show more

POST OFFICE JAILED AN INNOCENT MAN Harjinder Butoy and... his wife ran a Post Office branch in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, for 5 years. They built something out of nothing. Then the auditors walked in one day and decided the numbers did not add up. Post Office accused him of stealing 206k pounds. A jury found him guilty in 2008. He was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months. Apparently prison was not punishment enough. The Post Office also slapped him with a confiscation order of 61,294.34 pounds, money he was ordered to pay back for a theft he never committed. A fine for a crime that only existed inside a broken computer system called Horizon. While he sat in a cell his wife had to move their kids into his parents house. The branch shut. The business gone. He was later declared bankrupt too. He served 18 months before release. It took until April 2021 for the Court of Appeal to finally quash his conviction, one of 39 postmasters cleared that day out of more than 700 prosecuted using evidence from the same faulty system. You would think that is the end of it. It is not. Years later he was still fighting for the rest of his compensation, having only received a fraction of the first stage payout. Clearing your name, it turns out, does not come with a same day refund. Butoy has said somebody needs to be prosecuted and locked up the way he was. In one of the #Bengaluru's biggest heists, domestic staff... allegedly decamped with gold, diamond and silver jewellery worth an estimated Rs 18 crore from a builder's residence at ASK Lake Garden on #Kempapura Main Road in #Yamaluru recently. The accused are a Nepalese couple identified as Dinesh (32) and his wife Kamala (25). According to the complaint filed by Shimanth S Arjun (28), a businessman, the theft occurred between 9 am and 12.30 pm on January 25. Arjun, son of MR Shivakumar, told #MarathahalliPolice that his family has been residing in the house for the past 19 years. His father Shivakumar, a builder, was out of town for work at the time of the incident. Dinesh and Kamala had joined as housekeepers about 20 days ago through acquaintances identified as Vikash and Maya Vishu. They were employed at the house along with cooks Siddharama and Ambika. On January 25, at around 9 am, the complainant, along with his wife and mother, left the house to attend his wife's land worship ceremony at H Cross on Hoskote-Chintamani Road. At around 12.38 pm the same day, Arjun received a call from the cook Ambika, who alerted him that cupboard locks had been broken and valuables stolen, allegedly by Dinesh and Kamala with the help of others. When the family rushed back, they found that a locker in the ground-floor bedroom had been broken open using an iron bar, with about 10 kg of gold and diamond ornaments stolen. Another locker in the first-floor bedroom was also found broken, from which around 1.5 kg of gold ornaments, about 5 kg of silver jewellery and Rs 11.5 lakh in cash were missing. In all, gold, diamond and silver ornaments and cash worth approximately Rs 18 crore were reported stolen. The complainant alleged that the couple had closely observed the movements of family members in advance. Police have registered a case under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master). Efforts are on to nab the absconding couple. A senior police officer said the suspects had disconnected the power supply to disable CCTV cameras. The complainant further told police that the couple were replacements for regular domestic staff Vikash and Maya and had agreed to work for a monthly salary of Rs 27,000. The Bengaluru city police in a joint operation with... Puducherry police arrested techie J Kenneth, accused of murdering the parents and sister of his girlfriend Shwetha. Kenneth was spotted by Puducherry police when he was drinking at a wine shop, and on seeing the cops, Kenneth started running. Chasing him for over 200 meters, ASI Ramalingam from Puducherry police department, succeeded in nabbing Kenneth. However, Ramalingam and few other cops were injured as Kenneth assaulted them. From the same place, cops had arrested Shwetha two days back. Both had fled the city after stabbing Shwetha's parents and sister Supriya to death inside the flat of an apartment in Seegehalli, KR Puram. Shwetha is in seven-day-police custody. Police will produce Kenneth before the judge at latter's home-office in National Games Village, Koramangala by evening. The victims were identified as Somasundar (52), his wife Muthulakshmi (48), and their 19-year-old daughter Supriya. According to police, the accused allegedly carried out the murders following a dispute that escalated over financial issues linked to Shwetha's unpaid bank loans, which had reportedly crossed Rs 30 lakh. Investigators believe the financial burden, along with the couple's strained circumstances, played a key role in the incident. Police said Shwetha and Kenneth, both engineering graduates and former classmates, had been in a live-in relationship for over a year, which they had kept hidden from their families. The relationship came under strain after bank recovery notices related to Shwetha's loans began reaching her family's residence in Marathahalli. In the days leading up to the incident, Shwetha's mother reportedly visited the couple's apartment after receiving the notices, followed by her father and younger sister. Police said an argument broke out over the loan issue, which soon escalated into violence inside the apartment. Neighbours reported hearing screams around 10 pm on the night of the incident, after which Somasundar was found bleeding on the staircase. Following the killings, Shwetha allegedly fled the scene, prompting a massive manhunt that led to her arrest earlier. Kenneth's arrest in Puducherry marks another major development in the ongoing investigation. Yesterday, an officer directed me where to park and demanded that I squeeze a little bit so that another car could fit. As we were busy removing our bags, the KAA officers clamped the car, insisting that I had parked wrongly by crossing the painted line. I pointed out the traffic officer who had insisted that I park that way, only for the officer to disappear into thin air. The KAA officer then insisted that I either bribe him KSh 4,000 or go to their office and part ways with a KSh 6,000 fine. The cab guys who were there called me and told me, “Bro, hao watu wamezoea kutega hivyo. Walipe tu badala ya maneno mingi.” At that point, I knew this was pure malice. I decided to first take my yellow yellow damsel to catch her flight, then came back few minutes later. The KAA guy approached me, and this time, the bribe had miraculously reduced to KSh 3,000. I asked them where their office was, went there, and paid the KSh 6,000 fine through the government platform. Doctor saves life of woman who had cardiac arrest... when she came to vote in #Bengaluru. Dr Ganesh Srinivasa Prasad, a Nephrologist at Narayana Health Centre, Bommasandra, was waiting patiently for his turn to vote at Jumbo Savari Dinne in JP Nagar 8th Phase when a woman in her fifties came to drink water from a can near the queue of voters around 9 am. She suddenly started falling when the Dr & another person in queue caught her. The Dr told TNIE, "I checked her pulse and found it was very low. There was an uprolling of eyes. Her body did not show any response and she was gasping for breath. I immediately performed CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and her condition improved." Those on election duty then rushed and offered her juice. An ambulance was called for which arrived in 5 mins and she was rushed to hospital. "We might have even lost her if there had been a delay" he added.
