I'm seeing a lot of people saying it is... just a bad upscaling instead of Gen AI, but it is indeed Gen AI animation. There are things going on in it that just don't make any sense for puppet animation. Here are some parts that make it clear, I slowed down the video so it's easier to notice the chunky parts. I checked the past ADs and it's possible to notice details (from an animator's POV) that are common and make sense for human work, so it was definitely a choice to use AI on this new ADshow more

John D. Rockefeller purchased this land for us under the Snake River Land Company quietly buying up about 35,000 acres because he didn’t like seeing development creeping into the valley and he know Grand Teton for what it was-an otherworldly place that needed to be protected for all Americans. Locals protested an outsider buying up all this land, Congress tried to abolish the early National Monument created by FDR, but the standoff (culminating in a protest cattle drive across the monument) ended when Rockefeller’s land was merged into the modern park. 🚨 THE ENERGY TECHNOLOGY THAT COULD POWER CIVILIZATION FOR... THE NEXT 100 YEARS ISN'T FUSION. Molten Salt Reactors use molten fluoride or chloride salts as coolant and in some designs, the nuclear fuel itself is dissolved directly into that salt. This is very different from traditional reactors. Instead of solid fuel rods sitting in water under high pressure, these systems run at much higher temperatures but at atmospheric pressure, which dramatically reduces the risk of explosions or meltdowns. The salt can flow over solid fuel, or the fuel can be mixed directly into the coolant. Both approaches are being actively developed. Why this matters: • MSRs operate at high temperatures, making them potentially much more efficient at generating electricity and process heat • Low-pressure operation makes them inherently safer than conventional water-cooled reactors • Some designs can burn existing nuclear waste or use thorium as fuel • The technology could support everything from advanced power generation to hydrogen production and industrial heat The deeper implication: For decades, nuclear power has been dominated by one basic design concept. Molten salt reactors represent a fundamental rethink using a liquid that can act as both coolant and fuel. This opens the door to reactors that are safer, more flexible, and potentially capable of solving some of nuclear energy’s biggest historical challenges (waste, fuel efficiency, and public perception of safety). While still in development, MSRs are one of the most promising pathways for next-generation nuclear power. We may be looking at the early stages of a genuinely new chapter in how humanity generates clean, reliable energy. (篠田 知宏), China (ちな), Fumiaki Kouta (光田 史亮), Ripa (りぱ), Mitsuru Ishihara (石原 満), Atsuki Shimizu (清水 厚貴), Artist Unknown PV: Flip Flappers (フリップフラッパーズ) OP I’ve highlighted a lot of Kiyotaka Oshiyama’s past work as a key animator and an episode director, but this is his first credit for directing an entire project! A much different work than Look Back, but still a really well animated one. Now while he’s solo animated episodes before, it would obviously be an arduous task to direct and animate every episode himself, but he’s involved practically as much as he can be by storyboarding half of the episodes as well as this OP and the ED and doing some key animation of his own. Now in terms of the OP itself, we’ve got some gorgeous work from a bunch of skilled animators. Now the cuts are very quick, but there’s some really crazy running and background animation both in cut 1 by Tomohiro Shinoda (who has worked a lot on projects that Yoshimichi Kameda is involved in) and cut 4 presumably done by Ripa.show more

I noticed something about most of the new Kling... 3.0 demos. Kling 3.0 Multi Shot doesn't cross the line! One of the major pain (expensive) points of making AI narrative films is that the coverage is all over the place and random shot grids are easily half unusable based on the traditional filmmaking coverage rules. This is my first dialogue scene with shot01 - wide shot, shot 02 - close up woman, shot03 - close up man AND KLING DID NOT CROSS THE LINE. Now the framing still could be tweaked to fit the standard conventions of traditional cinematography, that is where possibly tools like Martini could help out. But very impressed, I'm generating this video with Korean dialogue next. Kling AIshow more

Building gigawatt scale datacenters in the oceans may be... even easier than I had previously thought. Normally for OTEC cold deep sea water and warm surface waters are needed. Because that gigawatt is generating a lot of heat as an end product of compute, along with some additional solar thermal collection, we won’t need warm surface water at all, allowing these datacenters to go almost anywhere with enough depth. Additionally, that gigawatt of heat may be hotter than surface seawater normally used for OTEC, allowing for much shallower piping (200m instead of 1000m) while also being more efficient. The availability of unlimited cold water for the condenser is the key factor we can’t replicate on land. This brings the potential energy generation for ocean based compute up from 10 terawatts to potentially thousands of terawatts, as the locations are not limited to areas with the warmest surface waters. The excess energy needed for hundreds or thousands of people to also live on these structures is minimal compared to that needed for compute.show more
