Qwen3.8-Flash-Next now reaches ~43 tok/s after a 122,902-token prompt... on ONE DGX Spark. ⚡🚀 MTP k=2 won my draft-depth sweep, with +42.5% mean decode over no draft. The PLE table stays fully on-device. I promised the deeper MTP tests. Here are the results, and now you can explore them in an interactive benchmark page too. 𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗧 𝗧𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗪𝗢𝗡 Mean single-request decode with 32K context configured: MTP k=2: 39.21 tok/s MTP k=3: 36.42 tok/s MTP k=1: 35.18 tok/s No draft: 27.51 tok/s k=2 also produced the fastest individual sweep run: 41.34 tok/s. Four runs each for no draft, k=1 and k=2. Seven for k=3. Decode excludes time to first token. Here, k means speculative draft depth, not quantization bits. k=3 produced more tokens per step, but the extra drafting work did not pay off in throughput. k=2 is my current pick for this setup. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟭𝟮𝟯𝗞-𝗧𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗧 𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧 I then ran a separate long-prompt comparison: Actual input: 122,902 tokens Configured context: 262,144 Requested output: 128 tokens One request at a time MTP k=2: ~43 tok/s No draft: 26.2 tok/s Time to first token: 110.6 seconds with MTP 107.0 seconds without it The win here is generation speed, not faster prefill. To keep the scope clear: 256K was the configured limit. This was a real ~123K input, not a completely filled 256K window or a full k sweep at that depth. 𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 Whole model on-device: 78.57 GiB Packed 5-bit PLE table: 30.4 GiB, included in that total No NVMe PLE offload in this build. This is still turboderp’s 3.05bpw_h5_ng5 EXL3 pack, served through my vllm-exl3 integration. My work here is the serving integration and testing. These are preliminary performance measurements, not a quality evaluation or a claim of bit-exact full-output parity. 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗦 The benchmark page has the individual sweep values, long-prompt comparison, and measurement scope. You can play the animation, export the charts, or download the HTML and data to render them yourself. No Spark needed to view the results. THE TESLA MODEL S: THE CAR THAT MADE ELECTRIC... VEHICLES SERIOUS When the Model S launched in 2012, the entire world still saw EVs as slow, boring, short-range toys for tree-huggers. The Model S changed that narrative overnight. It wasn’t just an electric car — it was a statement. Here’s why the Model S was so important for EV adoption: • It proved EVs could be faster and better than gas cars 0–60 mph in under 4 seconds (later Plaid versions under 2 seconds) while being completely silent and smooth. It beat most supercars off the line and made “electric” synonymous with performance. • It delivered real long-range capability Over 300 miles of range when most EVs at the time struggled to reach 100 miles. Suddenly, road trips became possible and “range anxiety” started to feel outdated. • It introduced over-the-air updates The first production car that could get major performance upgrades, new features, and safety improvements wirelessly — like a smartphone on wheels. This changed how people think about car ownership forever. • It forced the entire auto industry to respond Legacy manufacturers who had been dragging their feet on EVs suddenly rushed to catch up. The Model S basically lit the fuse for the modern EV revolution. • It made luxury electric desirable Premium interior, massive touchscreen, ridiculous acceleration, and futuristic design turned EVs from “compromise” into “aspiration.” Without the Model S proving that electric cars could outperform and out-luxury gasoline vehicles, we wouldn’t have the Model 3/Y explosion, the Cybertruck, or the flood of competitors now racing to go electric. The Model S didn’t just sell cars. It changed the future of transportation. It took EVs from niche to mainstream and showed the world what was possible.show more

When people say that phonics is “too boring” or... “doesn’t work”, it’s just an admission that they don’t know how to teach it well. Here’s my son working through one of the most difficult transitions in phonics: the introduction of digraphs like “sh” Until now, the words he read could be sounded out one letter at a time - each letter makes its own sound. But once digraphs are introduced, the reader needs to learn to “look ahead” one letter while reading. When reading “fish”, he cannot pronounce the “s” as “ssssss”. Instead of parsing fish as f/i/s/h, he has to notice that the letter following “s” is “h”, switch to parsing the word as f/i/sh, and pronounce the sounds accordingly. To make it easier for novice readers to notice digraphs and parse them correctly, Mentava’s software displays them in a slightly different colored font. As the student demonstrates increased mastery, the font hints gradually fade out to greyscale and then normal black. This gradual process avoids the frustration that would be caused by sudden increases in difficulty, leading to an engaged and successful learner!show more

50% more context unlocked for Qwen 3.8 27b Q4_K_XL... dflash 2 on a single RTX 4090 (24 GB VRAM) I found a hidden VRAM tax in llama.cpp. By combining my custom 2 bit DFlash 2 drafter with one overlooked server flag, I just unlocked another +80,000 tokens of context. Qwen3.8-27B is now running a massive 250,000 context at 75 tokens/s on a single RTX 4090. Here is the secret: By default, `llama-server` reserves massive chunks of your VRAM to handle multiple concurrent users (batching). If you are running a single user session, you are bleeding memory for features you aren't using. By passing the `--parallel 1` flag, you force the engine to dedicate 100% of your 24GB VRAM buffer to a single user. When we combine the VRAM saved by our Q2_K 2-bit drafter with the VRAM saved by `--parallel 1`, the context ceilings absolutely explode: Note: all benchmarks carried out with a massive 28k prompt. Ubuntu 22. ### THE NEW 24GB PHYSICAL LIMITS (Single RTX 4090): # 1. The "Repo Swallower" (Q4 KV Cache): - Context: 250,000 tokens (Up from 170k!) - Speed: 73.66 t/s decode | 1,608 t/s prefill - Peak VRAM: 23.8 GB # 2. The "High-Precision SWE" (Q8 KV Cache): - Context: 150,000 tokens (Up from 100k!) - Speed: 75.01 t/s decode | 1,667 t/s prefill - Peak VRAM: 23.9 GB # 3. The "Pristine Attention" (Unquantized FP16 KV): - Context: 90,000 tokens - Speed: 80.58 t/s decode | 1,699 t/s prefill - Peak VRAM: 23.92 GB ### HOW TO RUN THE 250K GOD STACK TODAY: (Requires PR #27342 + my Q2_K Hugging Face drafter) llama.cpp flags: ./build/bin/llama-server -m Qwen3.8-27B-UD-Q4_K_XL.gguf -md Qwen3.8-27B-DFlash2-Q2_K.gguf --spec-type draft-dflash --spec-draft-n-max 3 -c 250000 -ngl 99 --parallel 1 --port 8080 -ctv q4_0 -ctk q4_0 We are pushing a quarter million tokens of context with speculative DFlash 2 decoding at 73 tokens/second on a single consumer gaming GPU. I dropped my custom 2 bit Hugging Face GGUF links, visual performance graphs, and the PR #27342 build instructions in the replies below. 🚨⚠️ M&S RE-ORG!! ⚠️🚨 ** MEN IN MY LOCAL... M&S NOW HAVE TO WALK THROUGH THE LINGERIE SECTION TO GET TO MENSWEAR ** Ok, so I checked in again today, and it’s even worse. I don’t think this is fair on most men (decent men) either. To be clear, I raised the issue of sex discrimination with the store manager and M&S HQ back in March 2026. Nothing has changed. Except one thing HAS changed. Very recently. In their infinite wisdom, M&S has now jumbled the Lingerie section pretty much in with the Menswear. 2 videos of my (1) walk round, cut up as I don’t have the tools to obscure faces and a large fella walked straight between me and the lingerie midway through, looking straight at camera. You can also see how isolated the Lingerie fitting rooms are here (also cut at end as a man was sitting on a seat inside the entrance to the Lingerie fitting rooms). There was a staff member at the fitting rooms today, but it’s Saturday, peak time. There are not always staff members present, more often than not in my experience. No till points on this floor either. They took those out last year/year before (they were in the Menswear section adjacent to the Men’s fitting rooms). Before this month (it’s very recent), the Lingerie and Menswear sections were divided by the escalators and men did not have to walk through the Lingerie section to get to Menswear. It’s like a male knicker fetishist is in charge of store layout at M&S HQ. I can’t work out otherwise why they would think this is a good idea! 😬 #BringBackSafeguarding #BringBackCommonSense Sex Matters™ Maya Forstater 💚🤍💜#Your Mums a TERF 🦕Restore UK Bring Back Safeguarding Jean Hatchet Please feel free to tag anyone else who might wanna know.show more

I was hit with the news yesterday that my... first Navy mentor, Rob Roy, passed away. Rob served 26 years in the Navy, including 20 years in the SEAL Teams. He served with DEVGRU on the East Coast and with Teams on the West Coast. When I was going through the screening process for BUD/S, Rob was in charge of the program. After I passed and received orders, he took me under his wing and spent countless weekends helping me prepare for training. After I left the Navy in 2016, Rob gave me a side gig training civilians who had earned SEAL contracts and were preparing for BUD/S. Yesterday morning, Rob was experiencing chest pains, so he drove himself to Naval Medical Center San Diego, and passed away from a heart attack at the gate. Rob had a tremendous impact on my life and on the lives of many others he mentored over the years. Till we meet again, brother. #LLTBshow more

NEW: Justin Trudeau's girlfriend, astronaut Katy Perry, is under... investigation for s*xual assault. The allegation came from Australian actress Ruby Rose, who accused Perry of s*xually assaulting her at a Melbourne nightclub. "Melbourne Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical s*xual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010," said the Victorian Police to Fox News. "Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage." Rose claims that after the assault, she "threw up on her." "After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it," Rose claimed. "Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead, I got attacked by... everyone." A representative for Perry has denied all allegations, calling them "categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies." "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies," the representative said. "Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."show more

On This Day: The fall of the Valkyrie June... 9 1966: The 2nd prototype of the North American XB-70 Valkyrie [62-02070] collides with an F-104 Starfighter over California (US). Of the three aboard both planes, only the XB-70´s pilot survives, with his co-pilot and the fighter pilot perishing. Incident occurred during a photoshoot while in close formation. Enquiry stated the F-104´s pilot was in a position where he was unable to safely distance from XB-70 (more details from the ASN Entry below) The XB-70 was a Mach 3 bomber developed in the 50s. Developments in missile technology made the concept obsolete, leading to its cancellation in 1961. At the time of the crash, the two prototypes that had been built were being used for research. Video is from an excerpt by YouTuber Mike Bell – Video´s name is “Wake Vortex and the XB-70 crash” More info on the report here “ On 8 June 1966, XB-70A No. 2 was in close formation with four other aircraft (an F-4 Phantom, an F-5, a T-38 Talon, and an F-104 Starfighter) for a photoshoot at the behest of General Electric, manufacturer of the engines of all five aircraft. The USAF summary report of the accident investigation stated that, given the position of the F-104 relative to the XB-70, the F-104 pilot would not have been able to see the XB-70's wing, except by uncomfortably looking back over his left shoulder. The report said that Walker, piloting the F-104, likely maintained his position by looking at the fuselage of the XB-70, forward of his position. The F-104 was estimated to be 70 ft (21 m) to the side of, and 10 ft (3 m) below, the fuselage of the XB-70. The report concluded that from that position, without appropriate sight cues, Walker was unable to properly perceive his motion relative to the Valkyrie, leading to his aircraft drifting into contact with the XB-70's wing”show more

Patchy Heart (Part 2) Tattoo Artist: Chris Jacobs (... Markus ) Designed/ sketched by me ( MystiqueQuartz ) Photographer(s): Markus XXanderTheKid & myself Went to @classictattoocle today to get a custom piece finished. I am at loss for words. It's just soooo astonishing! It is as colorful as it is edgy. Thank you sooo much, Chris! The concept of Patchy Heart is about being tested by people, society, the universe till you're left broken hearted. The pins & needles are to symbolize being stabbed in the back. The Spool of thread, stitching, staples, bandages & patches are to symbolize picking up the pieces of yourself and putting them back together. The patches & threads being different colors symbolizes the various changes from within each time you're climbing high from the lows. Overcoming countless atrocities. Bouncing back fiercer than ever (hence the morbid dragon-like face & expression formed in this manner). The spool of thread labeled "MY STORY" symbolizes my past, present & future. It also symbolizes that I still have more life to live. More lessons to learn. More room for change & mending. The silhouette of the heart is an optical illusion that resembles an anatomically correct heart & dragon head. I am born on the year of the dragon. The placement of this piece on my left arm symbolizes wearing my heart on my sleeve. Forever knowing and owning my feelings. Again, thank you Mark Fleming for recommending me to this wonderful place. The vibes here are sooo chill and these unfathomably talented artists leah gibbons @travybeartattoos & @lextattoos201 were super nice to me while there @alfonsolugotattoos ian jones also have fantastic portfolios & I thoroughly enjoyed going through them all. Air India B-787 fuel switches: seen a lot of... comments on "racism", "appeasement" to Boeing"; "Western superiority" in some comments, and, on my behalf, I assure you it is not. As seen on this simple video, there´s NO WAY the switches could move themselves. This is not based on this video alone - which clearly shows a mechanical lock, and the need to push up before moving it, as a fail safe - but also on the opinions of captains who fly the plane, technicians, safety experts, and also the simple fact that, despite dozens of B-787 operators worldwide, no one reported switches moving themselves. I said it here more than once: I´m not for conspiracies. You can hide the truth from one person, but to believe that dozens of pilots, investigators, technicians, lawyers, manufacturers, mechanics, etc... would all be duped this easily... seems a far cry. Mathematically alone, tricking all these folks, each with their reputations on the line, seems remote. Also, the source for yesterday´s "leak" is the " Safety Matters Foundation" - NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE prestigious Flight Safety Academy Foundation - appears to have an agenda to deflect blame on the pilots, despite all evidence (so far) pointing to deliberate action. (Also as a note, didn´t you find it dodgy that in 2026, with everyone and their dog having a 20 MP cellphone, the picture of the document, released by the said foundation, has such poor quality? You can hardly read what´s in there) I also find it strange that, on yesterday´s incident, given that, less than one year after a crash involving a B-787 with "supposed" malfunctioning fuel switches, the crew of the latest incident, instead of delaying the flight, and grounding the aircraft, simply opted to continue the flight. Short memory? I underline nothing against Indian Nationals - there are two readers here in particular - which I won´t nominate for privacy reasons - who are Indian Nationals and who always come to help with insightful opinions and respect, which I have in a very high regard. ("not seeing the forest for the trees"") Also, don´t think it was because the accident happened in India that I think less of the nation. Mental health in aviation has been a problem everywhere, the Germanwings is a sad example of that and I also think the attempts of cover-up lately, hinting it was not pilot suicide - by note, pushed by the pilot´s parent - were farcical.show more

Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours. With... the US and Iran now trading blows, there were no US escorts in the last 24 hours. Inbound VLCCs unrelated to Iran fell to zero for the last 2 days. The key to the oil math was always inbound tankers, not outbound tankers. With no incoming VLCCs, production shut-in will rise, which is the essence of the oil market deficit. As you will see in the MarineTraffic video, AIS spoofing appears about halfway through. According to MenchOsint 's reporting today, IRGC speed boats turned vessels around in the Oman lane. This will also prevent shadow transits from taking place. With US conducting the largest strike since the ceasefire took place in April, it will be interesting to see what develops further. I have included my inbound tanker list below for the last 3 days.show more

[Discrete Fourier Transform] by Hand ✍️ In signal processing,... the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) is no doubt the most important method. But the math involved is extremely complex, literally, involving a summation over a complex number term e^(-iwt). I developed this exercise to demonstrate that underneath such complexity, DFT is just a series of matrix multiplications you can calculate by hand. ✍️ Once you see that, it should not surprise you that a deep neural network, which is also a series of matrix multiplications, with activation functions in-between, can learn to perform DFT to process and analyze signals so effectively. How does DFT work? [1] Given ↳ Signals A, B, and C in the 🟧 frequency domain: ◦ A = cos(w) + 2cos(2w) ◦ B = cos(w) + cos(3w) + cos(4w) ◦ C = -cos(2w) + cos(3w) ◦ Each signal is a weighed sum of four cosine waves at frequencies 1w, 2w, 3w, and 4w. ◦ We will apply Inverse DFT to convert the signals to time domain representations, and then demonstrate DFT can convert back to their original frequency domain representations. ↳ Signal X in the 🟩 time domain. X is sampled at 10 time points 1t, 2t, …, 10t: ◦ X = [-2.5, -1.8, 3, -0.7, -1.0, -0.7, 3, -1.8, -2.5, 5] ◦ Suppose X is also a weighted sum of the same four cosine waves, but we don’t already know their weights. We will apply DFT to discover them. [2] 🟧 Frequency Matrix (F) ↳ Write the coefficients of A, B, C as a matrix F. Each signal is a row. Each frequency is a column. ↳ A → [1, 2, 0, 0] ↳ B → [1, 0, 1, 1] ↳ C → [0, 1-, 1, 0] [3] Cosine → Discrete ↳ Sample from the continuous cosine waves at discrete time points 1t, 2t, 3t, to 10t. [4] Cosine Matrix (W) ↳ Write the samples as a matrix, Each frequency is a row. Each time point is a column. [5] Inverse DFT: 🟧 Frequency → 🟩 Time ↳ Multiply the frequency matrix F and the cosine matrix W. ↳ The meaning of this multiplication is to linearly combine the four cosine waves (rows in W) into time-domain signals (rows in T) using the weights specified in F. ↳ The result is matrix T, which are signals A, B, C converted to the time domain. Each signal is a row. Each time point is a column. [6] Transpose ↳ Transpose T, converting each signal’s time domain representation from a row to a column. [7] DFT: 🟩 Time → 🟧 Frequency ↳ Multiply the cosine matrix W with the transpose of matrix T. ↳ The purpose of this multiplication is to take a dot-product between each time-domain signal (columns in the transpose of T) and each cosine wave (rows in W), which has the effect of projecting the signal onto a cosine wave to determine how much they are correlated. Zero means not correlated at all. ↳ The result is an intermediate version of the “recovered” frequency matrix where each column corresponds to a signal and each row corresponds to a frequency. ↳ Compared to the original frequency matrix F, this intermediate matrix has non-zero weights in the correct places, but scaled up by a factor of 5 (n/2, n=10). For example, signal A, originally [1,2,0,0], is recovered at [5,10,0,0]. [8] Scale ↳ Multiply each value by 2/n = 1/5 to scale down the intermediate matrix to match the magnitude of the original frequency matrix F. [9] Transpose ↳ Transpose the recovered frequency matrix back to the same orientation of the original frequency matrix F. ↳ Like magic 🪄, the result is identical to the original F, which means DFT successfully recovered the frequency components of signals A, B, C. [10] Apply DFT to X: 🟩 Time → 🟧 Frequency ↳ Now that we have some confidence in DFT’s ability to recover frequency components, we apply DFT to X’s time-domain representation by multiplying W with X. ↳ The result is the an intermediate matrix. [11] Scale ↳ Similarly, we scale down by a factor of 5 to obtain the recovered frequency components of X (a column). [12] Transpose ↳ Similarly, we transpose the recovered column to row to match the orientation of the frequency matrix. ↳ Using the coefficients [0,0,3,2], we can write the equation of X as 3cos(3w) + 2cos(4w). Notes: I hope this by hand exercise helps you understand the essence of DFT. But there is more technical details, such as: • Sine: The complete DFT math also includes sine waves that follow a similar calculation process. • Phase: Here, we assume all the cosine waves are aligned at the origin, namely, phase is 0. If a phase p is added, for example, cos(w+p), we will need to calculate the sine component and use their ratio to figure out what p is. • Magnitude: If phase is not zero, the magnitude will need to be calculated by combining both cosine and sine terms.show more

So I have to tell you what is going... on in my life. This last month has been overwhelming for me. By that I mean that I just didn't want to go on after Vinnie died. He wasn't the first to leave me but he was different. When my illness got worse, Vinnie wouldn't leave me. I just didn't have a reason to care anymore. I started looking online at adoptable Chihuahuas and thought I had found one here in Oregon but was turned down because I couldn't take her for 2-3 walks a day and because I didn't have a large attached yard. A "X" friend found this little guy in Texas. The rescue has waved his adoption fee and my "X" friend is paying for the transportation cost. Please welcome "Tank". He left Texas this morning and should be here by Sunday. His family surrendered him (at age 9) to a high kill shelter and a small rescue was able to pull him. Now he will be with me for the rest of his life. He does have cataracts but I am hoping to find help with surgery through large discounts at Oregon Humane because of my age and with help from my Vet if he needs it. Right now he isn't at that point. He had two lumps removed and is cancer free. I hope that Vinnie would approve because Tank isn't replacing him. No one will ever replace him. I will let you know when he gets here.show more
