I didn’t know if I’d ever have kids. Finding... wife huge limiting factor. Asked a gay couple dads about egg donors. I’d be a single dad. Being happy or satisfied? 2009 hits. Unmarried, broke, childless at 39. Loser trifecta. I met my now wife in 2010 but wouldn’t marry or have kids until I had money again. Don’t do this. Life didn’t start until after kids. Pre-kids life was diet narcissism. Had every reason not to marry. Rationale as a fallback to being single. Fear. I pulled the triggers. Late? Maybe. But I’m a husband and a dad, two of the most important qualifications there are in life. Kids make me whole, and they make my life. Another advantage unexpected.show more

This is me & my kids celebrating my 1st... yr of sobriety. Tuesday 7/14/26 we celebrated 9 yrs. I’ve been sober before, sometimes for years but I always got lazy or too smart or terminally unique but July 14/2017 I woke up to the same argument I’d had with my X for yrs. I was a failure & she deserved better. My feelings were hurt, my self esteem was low but I knew I deserved better. I packed a bag so I could leave & check into a hotel. This was my move since childhood. When things hurt I’d run to safety. I’d also start making calls because I deserved to be safe AND high. I got into my car & noticed my X’s car was gone. Maybe she took the kids with her? I ran back into the house & my 1 1/2 yr old angel Quinn & 4 yr old son Jax were standing there alone. They were so happy to see me. Both of their selfish parents had walked out & left them. In that moment everything changed. Call it a G-d shot or moment of clarity but in front of me was everything I’d ever dreamed of so I had to be 100% because there was a good chance I’d have to raise these babies by myself. I vowed to be healthy. & never let anyone hurt my feelings. My kids & I spent every day of the next 2 years together. They felt unconditionally loved & so did I. Because of sobriety we live a wonderful life. Many of you know my X has major issues & has put my kids & I in dangerous situations which makes my sobriety & protecting Jax & Quinn all the more satisfying. I’m grateful for every moment of my life.show more

Lala baptiste reflects on the way she was raised... and how BAD it was because she was raised by a single mum and her daddy wasn’t active in her life, she says she doesn’t want that for her kids with jay cinco👀 “The way that i was raised, i was raised by a single mother, a single teen mum, my dad wasn’t really active in my life, i didn’t see that for myself, so i would not start now at the age of 26”show more

If you didn’t know, I used to work at... one of the most famous sèx clubs in the world, KitKatClub berlin. My life back then was basically being surrounded by the most unexpected situations 24/7. But honestly, it was one of the wildest chapters of my life. The things I saw, the people I met, and the experiences I had are stories you couldn’t make shit up.show more

I don't have all the answers here, but I... have thought about this a *lot*, so hopefully I have some: 1) Society needs both great men and Great Men. Every man should aspire to be the former; aspiring to the latter is unwise, as "the true road lies in quite another direction." 2) Life is WAY easier when you integrate your personal and professional life to the maximum degree. I try (extremely hard) to be the same person to my wife, kids, friends, co-workers, and strangers on the internet. Then fun time, family time, and work time can all use the same oh-so-finite minutes of the day! 2a) Tactically — bring your kids/family along with you on adventures. My kids have been to some incredibly non-kid-friendly places: space conferences, podcast recordings, industrial facilities, rocket launches, etc. And those adventures have been are some of my (and their!) most treasured memories. 3) You absolutely must become a morning person. Sorry. 4) I found that fatherhood was the ANSWER to my hunger in many ways. I was ambitious, certainly. But having kids made me realize that "ambition" is kinda fake; it's striving without a true end goal. (No, fame, riches, and "doing something important" are not true end goals.) 4a) As soon as you look your own child in the eyes — now THERE'S an end goal. Ineffable to anyone who hasn't had a kid, maybe, but I had an immediate, intense desire to keep my kids safe, and loved, and fulfilled. And a lifetime of anxious wondering if I was doing the right thing just washed away... there was the right thing, in my arms! 4b) Goals are awesome. I love goals. They are how I find motivation. But I have learned through a lot of trial and error that goals that focus on Me Me Me are unfulfilling even if I achieve them. Naked ambition is the ultimate Me Me Me goal... and it's much better to set goals about who you want to be to other people. (I need to write more about this; it's basically Alasdair Macintyre's read of Virtue Ethics, if folks are curious.) 4c) A tweet that has always stuck in my mind forever: "oh you're "high agency"? that's cool, what can other people rely on you for?" 5) If I've learned just one thing about "difficult" experiences in life, it's that as soon as you increase the difficulty level further, what you did before seems easy. Like the pre-kid life to me, now. Therefore, the answer to feeling like you can't possibly be a great dad and great in your career.... is to have even more kids!! (Kidding. Kinda.)show more

8 things I'm doing to capture the "magic window"... of my kid's childhood. For a bit of context: I'm 42 with 4 kids, ages 11 to 2, and run my own content + services business for creators. 1. I work from home Even though I own my business, I used to have an office too. I miss it sometimes (ok at least once a week), but being closer to the kids is a bigger benefit. I get to take breaks to hit golf balls at the park, fish, and play. 2. My wife stays at home Prolly worth a whole post, but this was a shared decision that was led by my wife. We wanted to have one of us available for the kids as much as they needed. She's a nurse, which definitely comes in handy 🤕 Also means she can start work again when she wants. 3. We homeschool I was homeschooled until 9th grade, so this wasn't a hard sell for me. My wife leads the charge here, but I help the older boys with math and other topics. One cool part is they have a desk in my office room too, so we can "cowork" together. 4. I coach their teams If my kid is playing a sport, I'll be coaching. We get to be physical with each other, learn teamwork, he gets to be coached by other dads and see my coach other kids. I also started leading jiu-jitsu classes in the neighborhood for kids and my 11 yr old helps me teach. 5. We exercise together I stopped going to CrossFit a couple years ago and built a simple garage gym so my kids could work out with me. Bodyweight exercises and GORUCK sandbags are the majority of our shared movements, but they also get to see their Dad being active and practicing good habits. 6. We're active in Church Another one that deserves an entire post, but similar to coaching their teams, our kids get to be around like-minded families, mentored by adults who care about them, and build a shared faith that binds us together. We also read the Bible and pray together each day. 7. I create content May not have expected this one, but when I started my YouTube channel a primary motivator was for my kids to be able to watch the videos when they got older. To see what Dad was thinking about, how I solved problems, set goals, etc. In many ways my content is a snapshot of our lives that has value beyond audience or monetization. 8. Leveraging AI AI has made me a lot more productive—I'd say 2-3x what I was capable of just a year ago. But a few months ago I realized I was just putting those "saved" hours right back into more work. If I was twice as productive, why wasn't I working half as many hours? I'm not quite working part-time, but I have cut back and used my new efficiencies for more time with the family instead of working at the same pace. ---- If you're reading this partly because this post is blowing up— hope it gives a little more context to how I'm structuring my life and work to be as intentional as I can with my family while being the provider they need too. It's a constant balancing act, more like walking a tightrope than balancing the scales of family and work. But I'm incredibly blessed to have such a great family and good work to do with cool people. Thanks for reading!show more

Why is my daughter in a public school in... El Salvador? Because they’re not afraid to pray with the kids.. and there’s no shootings💪🏻 The elementary school down the road from where I grew up was shot up a few months back. I know a lot of my friends don’t have my same beliefs and a lot of people prefer to have religion out of schools but I’m happy my daughter learns to pray rather then a lot of other wild shit kids learn in schools right now around the world 🇸🇻🚀show more

I'm laying in my tent reflecting on my life... right now..and I have to say, some would say my life situation of being homeless is a sad thing .. because you see people out there who are addicts and in bad situations .. but mine isn't anything like that. Although I havent had a home in 10 years, I see and feel the blessing. I'm so free in life to live how I want in life. Sure while sometimes I desire a bed to come home too.. I get to have a bed anywhere in life I want. I'm so free to live and explore as I please with nothing to tie me down. If I could share any piece of advice, it is simple do not trade your freedom of life for the chains of society and what they deem how YOU should live. I promise in this day and age you can be so free and make money without anyone there to tell you when to clock in, when to eat lunch, when you can use the bathroom, none of that! I hope you all find the bliss I feel in life someday.show more

Georgina Rodríguez on why she adopted the kids: “Adoption... or no adoption, they are my kids, and I have been taking care of them for years. We are one big family, and it’s obvious. I love having them around, especially Cristiano Jr., and I’m so happy this happened. This process is another reason it took us a while to get married because I insisted on adopting them, but my husband was against it. I told him that’s what I wanted, and eventually, he understood my reasons. We both decided to make it legal and official.”show more

After church my kids & I knocked on a... few neighbors doors & said come to park with us!! I took 7 kids & played for a couple hours! My DEAL IS ALWAYS IF ANY OF THEM CAN BEAT THIS NEARLY 43 YEAR DAD IN A SPRINT I'LL GIVE THEM $100!!! Today, we had 9 kids attempt 13 races & I'm proud to say none of them got my $100 but we all had a lot of fun!! (I gave a 6th grader a 3 second head start & ALMOST GOT BURNED IN ONE!) •Movement & health. •Outdoors & off screens. •Laughter, encouragement & high fives. •Competing, racing, & pushing your body. I talk a lot about creating a healthy lifestyle centered around movement! Fitness & health doesn't need to be a torturous hour on a treadmill & some fanatical diet. Walk to a park with your kids, make a healthy food choice, play, race, & have fun! I strive to teach my kids & everyone around me that THIS SHOULD BE NORMAL!!! Run, race, walk, compete, get outside, & be grateful for the gift of movement & health! This is how we change the world. ❤️🙏show more

So two Brits do their best to relocate to... Australia and set up a new life for themselves and due to a company closing + Visa issues they have to return to the UK People make out it’s easy to just up sticks and leave but I’m telling you from experience it’s really not unless you have a skill that’s in high demand or get married etc “Never in my life did I think I would post this. But here it is: I am leaving Australia. My chosen home. The place that shaped me. The place I thought I would grow old in. It still feels unreal. But sometimes life turns around and has different plans for us. What happened: my partner and I were on a sponsor visa and about to get our permanent residency in March 2026. A few months ago we got the news that his company was sold. At the same time, his occupation was removed from the visa list, which meant there was no real way for us to apply for another visa. There were other options to get PR, but after four years of working hard and spending a lot of money, we both didn’t feel ready to start another process. So we decided to take it as a sign and leave Australia. But the closer the day comes, the sadder I feel. To leave my home, my apartment, my people and the life I built here. For some it’s just a country, but for me it’s the life I created that I now have to say goodbye to. And honestly it’s breaking my heart 💔 #australia #permanentrresidency #movingabroad #expat #expatlife”show more

Rihanna, when asked in a recent interview about life... since meeting A$AP Rocky, she couldn't stop singing his praises❤️ “Some people would say he’s lucky to have me, but honestly, I’m the lucky one. The way he motivates me, pushes me to be better, takes care of our growing family, and loves our kids… I truly won in life.” She admitted she had a crush on Rocky long before they started dating, but she was in a dark place with her ex at the time. She said she once thought love was what Breezy showed her, but Rocky completely changed her perspective on what being loved should feel like. Then she joked about people saying she has kids almost every year: “Y’all haven’t seen anything yet. You think I’m done having kids? Hell no, we’re just getting started.”😂 And when asked about music, she seemingly hinted that a new album could be coming soon.👀show more

A childless life is one of the saddest lives... a person can live. It’s sad bc you miss out on one of the greatest forms of happiness a human can ever experience. This is the kind of joy that doesn’t come from $, status, or freedom. Rather, this pure joy comes from loving someone more than yourself. And also there’s a deeper thing of not having kids. Your story, your values, your genetics, all the things that make you unique, don’t get carried forward. Having kids is a bet on the future. It’s like saying, I think tomorrow is worth investing in. But when you choose not to, you’re opting out of the future you could’ve helped shape. This is the kind of happiness, which imo is the highest level of happiness a human can feel, that only exists when you have kids. Being human is awesome. Make more beautiful humans. Have kids. You will never feel ready, and I promise, you won’t regret it.show more

Forcing kids to read things they hate just simply... doesn’t work. Our reading philosophy at Alpha is simple: kids learn to love reading by reading what they love. Sure, it’s important for kids to be exposed to classic literature. But being forced to read highbrow literature as a young teen is often the very thing that makes kids hate reading in the first place. Many of them never bother picking up a novel again. If the goal is to have students fall in love with reading and become life-long readers, then we should cater the material to their interests. Whether it’s comic-books, books about insects, or a biography on the Kardashians, there has to be a better way. We built our own app called Teach Tales to solve this problem.show more
