Life update: It’s been kinda hard the past two... weeks. I’ve been trying to live normally but honestly it’s still hard. Been in and out of hospitals, figuring out surgery (keeps getting delayed), trying to work (hard to focus and sleep), travel for conferences, run Touchdown (was supposed to start fundraising two weeks ago). I’m very lucky to be alive, I was worried I was gonna go blind in my left eye. I was a passenger and FSD was on, so it’s honestly just made me really curious. How does perception actually work? How does the car identify and classify objects? Is all the inference done on the vehicle? Imma always support Elon Musk and I’ll always have tremendous respect for everyone at Tesla and Tesla_AI pushing the boundaries of engineering to help humanity. Engineering is extremely hard and no matter how hard you try you can’t get all edge cases. But I genuinely want to understand the engineering challenges behind FSD and autonomous driving. Finally broke out the lactate meter this morning. Starting... with this on the bike because I want to get comfortable taking my own samples before I start bringing it to the track and trying to do this during run workouts. Started with 25 min at 150W, then took a sample and started working my way up in 25W steps. 175, 200, 225, 250, 275W, holding each for ~5 min before taking another sample. I took a few extra readings along the way when something didn’t look right, which is how I ended up with: 150W: 0.6 / 1.4 / 0.8 (~101 HR) 175W: 0.5 (~110 HR) 200W: 0.6 (~117 HR) 225W: 2.2 / 2.2 / 1.7 (~126 HR) 250W: 1.1 (~136 HR) 275W: 1.6 (~143 HR) So yeah, the lactate numbers are a little all over the place. HR progression at least makes a lot more sense. Honestly most of today was just figuring out how to take the samples. Used my fingers and there was a lot more trial and error than I expected. How hard to prick, wiping a few times, then realizing sometimes I’d wiped enough that I could barely get any blood out, getting a big enough drop, figuring out how to actually touch it to the strip. I even realized at one point I was touching the wrong part of the strip. By 275W I was trying to do the whole thing while still pedaling and got a couple E-4 errors. Eventually stopped pedaling, got enough blood, got the 1.6 and called it. Definitely got better at it as I went though. I’m a lot more confident in the later samples than I am in some of the earlier ones just because I actually started to figure out what I was doing. By the end I felt a hell of a lot more comfortable than I did on that first sample. The plan is eventually to move to the ear and get comfortable enough with this that I can bring it to the track and take samples during workouts without the whole thing turning into a 10-minute ordeal. 5 years in LA came to a close today.... I moved to Cali in the middle of the pandemic - fresh out of college after living with my parents trying to figure my life out. It was right before the golden bull run of 2021 - and I can confidently say that era was unlike anything I've ever seen or probably will see again. Being in LA during that time was surreal - everyone wanted to learn about crypto and I found myself in this epic intersection between tech and culture in a way I could never have imagined. When it all came back to reality I was fortunate to be able to pursue my ambitions with music to their highest extreme. I started a fund, and then a record label - both geared at bringing artists onchain and connecting the two worlds together. As time went on - I found that the crypto part wasn't as captivating as it once was and instead I needed to figure out how to make music ownership viable in the absence of NFTs, memecoins or any other gimmicks that lacked longevity or substance beyond speculation. And that's what brought me to Tokyo - an innate feeling that the music scene here can be something to build a foundation on the back of. A place to build real community and culture and bring things onchain with the right ideals and values in mind. So here's to everyone that made LA so special. We were prepared, all our devices ready and even the internet speed was tested. Booked a conference room to make sure we are all settled in one place. There's 13 of us in that room. Everyone was praying, hoping, and wishing to at least be able to secure a seat for each one of us. But when we get into the site? What welcomed us are sold out tickets. From smiling and hopeful faces, we ended up crying and losing hope. None of us were able to secure a seat. This is such a traumatic experience as most of us are first timers. yassss okay, Paper has a new homepage and guess... what? it was entirely designed with early versions of our brand new desktop app and then built via MCP in code I'm actually scarily amazed 🥲 a project that a year ago would have taken me 4-6 weeks -maybe more- and a lot of pain was delivered in just 14 days, from wireframes to prod... agents are here babe I was also in charge of copy, illustrations, animations, and stress-testing an MCP workflow we're still figuring out ourselves but here's the thing, I wanted to prove to myself that you can't achieve a look and feel like this only by prompting lazy stuff into a chat box - there's still a lot to polish, but I can't imagine building this without a space to actually think and compose the canvas was KEY to validate ideas, clean up noise, iterate copy, and figure out a lot of things that take part in such a project so if you think you can vibecode something like this, good luck, see you -and your agents- later in a serious design tool :)show more
