Delays occurred not due to mismanagement and corruption but because of repeated terrorist attacks by Fitna-ul-Hindustan-linked terrorist groups, resulting in the martyrdom of several security personnel & labourers. This road cuts through harsh mountainous terrain. Its proximity to a porous border makes both machinery & manpower frequent targets for terrorists, posing extraordinary challenges to those working on the ground. Despite these threats, the road was completed with the steadfast support of law enforcement, particularly the Frontier Corps (FC), who neutralized multiple operatives of banned outfits to ensure the project’s progress. When I spoke with CNN about the border wall... project, I made my position clear: if the facts on the ground showed a need for a barrier here, I would support it. They don’t. That isn’t opposition to border security, it’s a recognition that effective border security isn’t one-size-fits-all. Different stretches of the border present different terrain, threats, traffic patterns, and enforcement challenges. What makes sense in one location may not make sense in another. Deputy President Gachagua is PLAINLY WRONG on this. Justice... Maina is a principled judge who has a clean record from the magistracy to the High Court. I have strongly disagreed with her on the few occasions I appeared before her, and I told her in court that I found her too "pro-government." But she isn't a judge one can accuse of corruption or incompetence. The sentiments by DP GACHAGUA must, however, be appreciated in light of CJ KOOME's woeful inability to provide a road map to address corruption and incompetence in the judiciary. For years now, we have had to deal with... congestion and the indiscriminate use of Douglas Road, Owerri, despite its status as a major economic artery of the State. This unfortunate situation has created an enabling environment for the breeding of different classes of criminal elements, thereby undermining public safety, order, and the smooth flow of commercial activities. The deplorable condition of the road further contributed to these challenges, encouraging abuse and illegal movements, particularly by motorists and street traders. Our decision to embark on the reconstruction of this strategic road is in line with our Urban Renewal Project, which is aimed at salvaging the City of Owerri from the looming threat of economic stagnation and reversing the gradual decline in urban development and growth. Beyond restoring critical infrastructure, this intervention seeks to create a more organized, secure, and economically vibrant city, and during my inspection of the project site, I could literally feel the fresh air of relief breathed by residents and users of the road, expressing their appreciation for the transformative impact of our Urban Renewal Projects. Today, my bill is already in the Verkhovna Rada... of Ukraine – fulfilling my promise – for justice, for law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies. Full-fledged guarantees of the independence of anti-corruption agencies. Real opportunities to verify, so that any Russian interference is kept out. Everyone who has access to state secrets, and this includes not only the NABU and SAPO, but also the SBI, the National Police, must undergo lie detector tests. These must be regular checks. The bill also contains provisions to prevent various abuses. The text of the bill was discussed with partners, law enforcement agencies, and representatives of the NABU and SAPO. There were many proposals from partners to involve European experts – from Britain, Germany, the EU. I instructed government officials to present the bill to partners and to engage all necessary expert capabilities. And of course, it is important that Ukrainians are responding with such dignity to everything thatʼs happening. Ukraine is a country of people who donʼt look away. #SOMALIA: In Hargeisa, dozens of youth organised a vigilante... mob targeting #Oromo and other Ethiopian nationals due to anger over the mass influx. The reality is that many of these migrants are in Somaliland illegally, with the Oromo administration in Ethiopia known to weaponise mass migration to alter regional demographics. The frustration on the ground is therefore understandable. However, I firmly condemn attacks on children and families. Law and order must prevail, it is the duty of Somaliland regional police to arrest, detain, and deport illegal migrants. Public safety and national security cannot be left to vigilante groups but if the govt isn’t acting, such groups will prevail. Illegal migration is a serious national security threat, and it must be addressed by the state, not the streets.show more

I commend the hardworking engineers from the Ministry of Works who have swiftly mobilized to the site to ensure the immediate repair of the damaged section. During my visit, I received direct briefing from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr. Bashiru Bello, on the circumstances surrounding the act of vandalism. It is unfortunate that some saboteurs, whose sole objective is to undermine our developmental strides and destroy the legacy of this administration, would resort to attacking public infrastructure built with taxpayers’ resources. I enjoin security agencies to strengthen the protection of public infrastructure across the state and ensure that those responsible for this criminal act are identified, arrested, and brought to justice. These projects belong to the people of Osun State, and every well-meaning citizen has a responsibility to protect them from acts of sabotage and vandalism. The NPCs have a “cone” of vision in front of them, and depending on how closer you are to the middle of that cone and also how close you are to the front of the NPC, the faster you are detected. It isn’t perfect, by any stretch of the imagination, but it is working and serves it’s purpose. As we advance in development this will both evolve and be refined from its current “primitive” state. To offer a small, subtle example among many: weddings today often incorporate practices popularized by Turkish soap operas—such as the ritual of tying a ribbon between the bride’s and groom’s rings and cutting it with scissors. This custom, while traditional in Turkey, was not historically part of local Kurdish wedding practices and has only become common in recent years due to the cultural influence of Turkish media. The recent wave of jingoistic outrage from pro-KDP circles on social media—such as the attacks directed at us simply for reporting facts some prefer to ignore—serves as a reminder that these voices do not reflect the realities on the ground. Their goal is to deflect, distort, and pressure us to frame events according to their narrative rather than the truth. This misrepresentation misleads both non-Kurdish observers and experts who rely on accurate information to understand developments in the region. Needless to say, we won’t be deterred or swayed. But it’s important to note that these coordinated attempts to distort reality—and to psychologically pressure or manipulate independent voices—are themselves part of the bigger picture. Highlighting these dynamics isn’t a side note; it’s central to understanding the full scope of how certain actors, particularly those aligned with the KDP mindset, operate. Their strategy isn’t just about shaping narratives—it’s about creating a controlled environment where only one version of reality is allowed to exist. This inquiry was initiated to address one of the... most pressing issues of our time: the federal and state governments’ responses to COVID-19. The challenges we faced over the past few years highlighted severe shortcomings in our governments’ responses to COVID and weaknesses in our democracy. To ensure justice, accountability and financial compensation, it is imperative that a comprehensive Judicial Inquiry into the government’s handling of COVID-19 is called. This could take the form of a Senate Commission of Inquiry or a Royal Commission. Investigations that must be robust, independent and based on data and facts, with the power to subpoena witnesses and documentation. The handling of COVID affected us all in profound ways. To fully understand the scope of these effects and to prevent this happening again in the future, we need to establish an accurate and detailed timeline of events and associated facts. Placing the most up-to-date information on the record will uncover the truth behind the decisions made and their consequences. These are essential for restoring accountability and trust in governments, and health services and departments. We must make this issue a federal election matter, with the goal being to awaken the public with clear, understandable facts. The public needs to become aware of the magnitude of the problems we faced. The mishandling of this crisis is not a matter of minor errors. It involved significant failures that demand accountability and serious repercussions. That is the only way to restore trust in our medical systems and in our government systems and processes. This issue is far from over. We owe it to ourselves and to future generations—especially our children and grandchildren—to address these failings directly, clearly and bluntly. Recent attack by BLF on brave soldiers of #PakistanArmy in Pasni is an excellent example in this regard, where the former used monstrous means to inflict harm on the defenders of the soil only to further their separatist ideals. However, their malicious actions backfired as the young students and residents of Makran rejected the actions of the BLF and other Baloch terrorist organizations. The manifestation of this rejection can be seen in this video, where the youngsters of Gwadar pay heartfelt homage to the 14 martyrs who lost their lives in a BLF-backed terrorist attack earlier this month. While the mouthpieces of Baloch terrorist groups and ultranationalistic terrorist sympathisers tried their best to divert people’s minds and garner their favour, the people, on the other hand, rejected their false narratives and decided to side with the true defenders of the Baloch nation, the Pakistan Army. This shows that the actions of terrorist organisations like BLF may appear like a victory to them, but these wicked actions are drifting the youth of Balochistan away from their vile ideology. Held the NSDC meeting. Three issues on the agenda.... The key ones: We reviewed the situation with shelters in the regions, districts and cities that the enemy is terrorizing most intensively. The results are bad. Almost all over the country. The situation is especially cynical and shameful in those cities that have significant financial resources, but unfortunately, other priorities. Personnel decisions will be made. The second issue is courts. There is a proposal to increase criminal liability for corruption offenses in the judiciary, to make it tangible. From 10 to 15 years with confiscation of property. This should apply to those who extort money, take money, maintain this system of corruption at all its levels. There should be integrity checks of judges, and not only before their appointment. Time can, unfortunately, change people about whom there was a positive conclusion at the beginning of their work in the courts. And I believe that it is worth checking, including with the use of a polygraph. We discussed the tasks that must be completed by the end of the year to fully implement each of the European Commission's recommendations for the start of negotiations on joining the EU. Yesterday I preached on Judges 20 and its relevance... to Charlie’s martyrdom and the public support for his killing made by a substantial portion of our society. In Judges 20, after the men of Gibeah ravished the wife of a traveling Levite to death, all of Israel was mustered to wipe out this city. But the tribe of Benjamin refused and instead came to the defense of their kinsmen. Israel went to war and eradicated the entire tribe with only a few survivors to purge the evil from their midst. The support for political violence cannot be tolerated. All the institutions, mechanisms, and organizations fomenting it must be shut down and all those who support it must be ostracized from civil society.show more

Today, during a UN humanitarian mission in Kherson, Russian... FPV drone operators attacked a UN convoy with multiple drones, effectively ruling out any possibility of the strike being accidental. UN personnel were forced to abandon their vehicles, while local authorities had to urgently organize the evacuation of the UN staff from one of the most dangerous areas of Kherson after the convoy lost its transport as a result of the drone strikes. At the same time, it is difficult not to be struck by the standard UN response of “we do not know which side carried out the attack.” This remains the organization’s consistent policy despite repeated attacks on UN staff, vehicles, and humanitarian convoys in Kherson, and despite Russian drone debris regularly being found at the sites of such strikes. I sincerely thank the UN personnel who continue risking their own safety and lives to help the residents of my hometown, even in its most dangerous districts, as in this case. But refusing to acknowledge the obvious reality that Russia is behind attacks on humanitarian convoys serves only to deepen the sense of impunity enjoyed by those committing these war crimes.show more
