Is strength important for speed development? Here’s my take... ⤵️⤵️ For context — this is me cleaning 295 lbs at 167 lbs body weight and I credit my abilities in the weight room largely for helping my collegiate career flourish the way it did However… We can’t lift at the expense of speed training and development What that means is when we enter the weight room we can’t do so with blinders on acting as if the only thing in the world that matters is that weight training session or improving your 1RM YES… you need force to move your body through space YES… that force needs to be high relative to your body weight BUT… you must be a skilled mover to apply said force in the right positions, at the right times, with the right vectors for it to mean anything While important to holistic athletic development, we’ve got to stop acting like strength is the ultimate differentiator in speed Lot of “weak” athletes will blow your doors off in sprints Lot of “strong” athletes get folded in speed & power sports Go into the weight room with the idea that you’re complementing your speed and athletic development… not superseding it If your legs are so beaten and broken down from lifting heavy you can’t train for 2-3 days without excessive risk, you’re doing it all wrong. Just some perspective from someone who once pursued 1RMs to no end while my track times stagnated… and then was enlightened by world class coaches who lifted within the context of my sport to take me from a college tryout to D1 All American What’re your thoughts? Let’s discuss in the comments!show more

Here’s a quick message to high school parents and... athletes who want to play in college… Hit the weights 🙂 These are pro guys who make their livelihood from their sport and even at their level they don’t neglect the weight room. They know it’s a game changer. If you REALLY want to see your kids development sky rocket FAST…. Hit the weight room multiple times/wk for Months/Years. Ya it’s not flashy… but it works!show more

What bone broth, aaa steak and a whole lot... of nature will do to a mf… On the real tho, your body is incredible, it’s designed with impeccable precision and pure divinity. The human body is the most magnificent organism. When the mind, body and soul is in unison it can regenerate and heal from anything. If I believed in the maya of the medical establishment I would not look like this. I’d be frail, weak, going into the hospital every 8 weeks to take biological immunosuppressant medication intravenously. I was so sick I had a section of my colon removed, at that point I made the conscious decision to take back control of my health, to become the ceo of my life and take my power back in my hands. My biggest mistake was giving all my power away and blindly taking whatever pills they gave me. I decided that was no longer for me. I went seeking for truth. I was mentored by great teachers of health, I studied day in and day out, learned the ancient schools of medicine, I became disciplined, I fasted, I prayed, I reconnected to nature and I came out a healed man. In hindsight I cherish my path, the journey, the trials and tribulations, it made me who I am. The ripple effect of my pain was tremendous, many people will be impacted for better by it. I will continue to give all of you my heart and my soul too. Life is beautiful, your energy is your greatest currency. Feeling vibrant and vital physically, emotionally and spiritually is available to all of us. You can live life with a fullness you never thought possible, you can reach the highest levels of attainment. Free from all the pain. No one wants to go through this life feeling drained and exhausted. Your reality should inspire you everyday. All of us living in this exact time and space are not here by coincidence, we’re at a crucial point of awakening and truth. Nothing is hidden anymore and the only way for it all to change is if we all change from within. Each soul came to this earth for a reason, and it wasn’t to cause or to live in pain. Healing the body and healing the earth are one and the same, it begins with getting out of the way and allowing nature to do what it’s meant to do; flourish. The human mind is capable of amazing feats, but within the complexity of the mind we can also deter from the true intuitive path. The illusionary world operates with scarcity, victimhood, poverty consciousness, greed and fear… a belief that you are lacking something and are unaccepted. These are the manifestations of dis-ease. You were designed perfectly, your body and mind is capable of feeling better than it’s ever felt, it took me years to get there but it’s beyond worth it. You can not extract the full magnitude of life with a body that’s been taken away from its inherent nature. We weren’t designed to consume the toxins we do yet still our body finds a way to keep us alive. When your vessel is operating at its fullest you emit and aura that is impossible to miss. We are beings of light, each one of your 70 trillion cells creates an electrical output. The healthier those cells are the more radiating your energy will be, and with that all the affluence of the world will be magnetized to you. Start with the basics, prioritize sunlight, drink the purest spring water, sleep well, walk and exercise daily, breathe deep into your body, eat organic whole foods, eliminate everything processed, avoid food that’s been tampered with by man, use herbs as medicines, cut all toxic relationships from your life, take care of the people you love, do a couple fasts ever year, and be grateful for the life God gifted you. Every moment is precious, every moment is a moment we will never get back. Reflect truth when you speak to people, show them compassion, honour and strength, put love above opinion and judgment. There’s enough malice in the world there’s no need to add to it. High standards, personal excellence and inner discipline can change the world… most importantly it’ll change your world.show more

No break rds! This is uppercuts from start to... end. With my coach here making sure I don’t get a breather! This feels like real training, I get to sweat & lose weight. In my previous fights I had to force feed myself to maintain the weight. Only real fighters know that after a hard training session you’re not hungry for a few hrs. Now I can relax then eat. Before it was rushing to eat to put the weight I lost back on. Thank you 126 lbs it feels heavenly 🙏😉❤️show more

Normalise RDL as a main movement. The Romanian Deadlift... (RDL) or Heavy Barbell Hip Hinge is a powerhouse exercise that has gained a lot of popularity among strength and conditioning coaches, powerlifters, and bodybuilders alike. This movement is often called an “athlete maker" in my mind due to its ability to build strength, muscle mass, and athleticism in both men and women. One of the primary reasons why the RDL is so effective for athletes is because it is triphasic, for the uninitiated meaning it involves three distinct phases of muscle action: eccentric, isometric, and concentric. During the eccentric phase, the lifter is lowering the weight, which creates tension and stress on the muscles, leading to greater muscle damage and adaptation. The isometric phase occurs when the lifter pauses at the bottom of the lift, holding the weight in a static position, which increases the time under tension and helps to build strength and stability. Finally, during the concentric phase, the lifter raises the weight, activating the muscles in a way that promotes greater hypertrophy. Compared to a traditional deadlift off the floor, the RDL places a greater emphasis on the posterior chain, specifically the proximal hamstring, glutes, and erector spinae muscles. The lift also engages the distal hamstring muscles in a nearly fully extended position, promoting greater muscle activation and strengthening. The RDL is an excellent way to develop strength and hypertrophy in these muscle groups, leading to improved overall athletic performance, including greater power, speed, and explosiveness. Given the numerous benefits of the RDL, it should be a main movement in any training program that aims to improve strength, muscle mass, and overall athletic performance. Incorporating heavy barbell hip hinge movements, such as the RDL, into your training regimen can help to promote better posture, improved mobility, and greater overall strength and athleticism. So, whether you are a powerlifter, bodybuilder, or athlete, consider adding the RDL to your training program to take your strength and athleticism to the next level.show more

STOP KILLING YOUR GEARBOX 😡😡😡🤬 (Correct sequence to park... an automatic car ) You’ve been parking your automatic car the wrong way for years, and it is slowly destroying your transmission. Most people just pull into a spot, slam the gear into P (Park), and then pull the handbrake. If you’re doing this, you are literally asking your gearbox to hold the entire weight of your car. Here is the Right way to do it in 5 steps: 1. Come to a full stop with your foot on the brake. 2. Shift the gear to N (Neutral). 3. Pull your Handbrake (or engage the electronic parking brake) with your foot still on the foot brake 4. Engage Parking Gear 5. Remove Your Foot from the Brakes. Why should you do this? Inside your transmission, there’s a tiny metal pin called a Parking Pawl. When you put the car in Park (P) without using the handbrake first, that tiny pin is the only thing stopping your car from rolling away. If you are parked on a hill or a slope, the stress on that pin is massive. Have you ever noticed that loud, painful CLUNK sound when you try to shift out of Park on a hill or slope? That’s the sound of your transmission screaming. You are literally forcing the gears to grind against that pinned-up weight. Over time, you’re rounding off the edges of that metal pin or, worse, snapping it. The handbrake was designed to hold the weight of the car onto the chassis frame. The transmission was designed to shift gears. Stop making the gearbox do the heavy lifting. Except of course you want to replace it regularly (that's not cheap). You're welcome 🤝🏾 .show more

Bryson DeChambeau hasn’t played since the Ryder Cup and... he won’t be again until LIV Golf Riyadh in February. He says he’s been speed training through the off season though and has a target of reaching a comfortable 200mph ball speed. He’s also been playing table tennis with America’s number 1, Kanak Jha. Speaking to Tom Hobbs from Flushing It Golf, Bryson said: “I’m not playing until Riyadh. I’m going to be going in hot though. I’m sneaky working on my game really hard. “I'm going to start ramping up my speed again. I ramped up my speed in November, got it to where I was pumping over 190 quite efficiently with some slow golf balls and stuff. I got to 200 quite a bit. “I haven’t done much recently though. I was playing some ping pong actually the past couple of days with the number one USA player, Kanak Jha. He's so much fun. Ping Pong is my favourite sport, so I got to learn a little bit from the best in the U.S. He’s twenty first in the world. So nobody's really gotten that high from the U.S. which is sweet. “But I'll get back to speed training right after Christmas and going into the new season, I want to be close to 200. So that's my goal. I’ll just get to a place where I’m super comfortable swinging fast.” The last time Bryson went after speed he gained an enormous amount of mass. He’s come back down through the weights though over the last few seasons and is much healthier for it. But, if Force = Mass x Acceleration, will he look to add more mass again and what’s more important, increasing acceleration or gaining mass? “They're both very important. If you don't have any mass, you can't accelerate it. It's a symbiotic relationship. It's actually more like F equals M V squared, that’s more of the velocity side of it. “You can accelerate too, but what I would say is the most important thing is it's not necessarily the mass or the acceleration, it’s the ability to put pressure onto the club. So you're able to apply pressure and control that through your grip strengths around a circle, that's probably the more important piece. Applying controlled pressure to the golf club like grip pressure. “It's not that you just accelerate the club, because you have to learn how to control the face through that motion as well. So it's all, you know, you can say it's acceleration, but it's a lot of grip pressure stuff. The more you control the grip pressure and how you're moving that grip, I would say that’s more the answer to your question. “And I guess at a certain point there’s dimishning return with, you know, going up in the mass and even down in the mass. There is a sweet spot for swinging a golf club. If you get a speedstick, there's just not enough mass behind it to create the smash factor necessary, and vice versa if it is too heavy, you can’t swing it that fast. “I'll always say swinging and accelerating the club is probably the most important, but the real answer is applying the most pressure to the golf club. The grip pressure. You’re not gripping it tighter, but your hand force into it pulling it and then throwing it around the corner.” Continues in comments thread below. The bros will tell you to lower every weight... over five slow, meaningful seconds. Big mistake. You are a third to a half stronger lowering a weight than lifting it. That is just how the body works. So if you can press the thing up at all, you own it on the way down. Easily. However slowly you lower it, you are babysitting a load the muscle already handles with room to spare. You cannot challenge a fibre that finds the weight comfortable. Take ten seconds if you like. It stays completely unbothered. And it gets worse, because the slow negative does not just fail to grow you, it actively costs you. Every long descent drains your energy, so you reach the concentric, the part that actually builds muscle, with fewer good reps left in you. You have spent yourself on the phase that stimulates nothing. Slow eccentrics are not a weak hypertrophy technique. They are hypertrophy in reverse. Lower it under control in two seconds. Then drive hard, where the muscle is weakest and the growth actually happens. The weight was never listening on the way down.show more

#HelloBlessedPeople 🙏🏾 Unpopular opinion…but TRUTH nonetheless!! Ultimately, The key... is NOT to ball up your fist, grit your teeth & try harder… It’s to TRUST DEEPER!! Many of us spend so much time trying to do more that we forget to spend time with the One who gives us the strength to do it all. TRUST is an ACTION WORD!! Abraham wasn’t perfect, but he trusted GOD enough to MOVE. He left what was comfortable because he trusted the CHARACTER of GOD more than the certainty of his circumstances. So let me ask YOU… How much INTENTIONAL time are you creating for your Creator? Because you & I know, we MAKE time for those things that we deem important!! So, instead of reaching for your phone to call or scroll… what if you reached for GOD’s Word? Instead of trying HARDER…what if you trusted DEEPER? Faith isn’t about having all the answers… It’s about having a relationship with & trusting the One who does!! Recognize your own limitations and surrender your struggles & perceived strengths to GOD, allowing His divine strength to take over and work through you! 2 Corinthians 12:9-11 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. #BBTB #Faith #TrustGod #Growth #DawkTalkshow more

Just had one of the worst drives I've ever... had in 5 years with FSD in the rain ... for some reason even though it limits you to Standard it would not stop getting into the left lane (and was capped at speed limit). And the left lane was flooded in spots... Tesla AI - the left lane obsession needs to end. At this point it's bizarre. Especially in these conditions. I manually had to move the car back to the right 10 times in 5 minutes. And overall ... I'm not going to lie I could not see anything. My heart rate was probably at 150 bpm. So I want to be an FSD but I don't want to be 3 ft from a barrier hydroplaning.. When the speed is limited in these conditions and it won't go the speed limit anyway - FSD NEEDS to stay out of the left lane!!!show more

Grip a club in your lead hand. Observe how... twisting your forearm changes the angle of the face. This is largely what controls where your ball flies. Small differences in this angle lead to huge changes in shot direction. This precision is not being trained in the gym with “golf exercises”. Poor control of this face angle is what leads to a whole host of swing issues. More so than physical limitations. For example, it is far more likely you come over the top in an effort to stop the ball going right because your face is wide open and you’ve seen the ball go right the last 5000 times than it is you lack hip or shoulder mobility. It would be beneficial for me as a trainer to say otherwise, but I just don’t believe it to be true. Use the gym to work on your physical capabilities. Improve your mobility, strength, and power. These are the things you are losing as you age. Leave the swing mechanics for your practice and golf lessons. If you try to “fix your swing in the gym” you will likely do a poor job of training your swing and your body.show more

I feel like there is some kind of stagnation... in my soul. I don't feel hopeless or tired, but suddenly everything became less interesting. I have to do something to wake up my soul so I can go back to how I was. I am the one who insisted on living, even if life was only room for my feet. I wonder what happened to me. I have become just a mass of flesh without a soul. I lost my passion and love for life.. My dear friends and loved ones .. This is your friend Mo from Gaza and this is an update The military operation is still continuing in northern Gaza... and there are more evacuation orders for the north and more displacement. I heard from one of the merchants that he has some cat food in Jabalia... but the area is dangerous there... Approximately he has 15 to 20 boxes Each box contains 24 cans Despite that, I said let's try to go, but we have to be careful... I went with my cousin Animal world We went to the furthest place we could reach. The picture below shows us at the Qurm Junction, and anyone who is in Gaza knows that it is the entrance to Jabalia... Unfortunately, we did not dare to approach any closer than that... We heard the sounds of explosions and saw plumes of smoke and the sounds of gunfire. Drones were flying densely over our heads. So we backed down and decided to go again today.. but the weather is very, very rainy today.. We will go again on Wednesday.. I wish we had access to cat food. It is more beneficial for them.. My friends and loved ones.. There is still the possibility of donating to buy the largest possible amount of food for them Or on the PayPal link It appears that the talks have reached a dead end. In this case, I should buy as much as possible. Today we can buy.. Who knows? Perhaps we will not be able to go and search in a few days... as I am doing now... I am grateful to someone who stood by my side during these difficult times. Your loving friend Moshow more

I was informed that the team will be seeking... a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA. Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember. I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us. 2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career.
