As a candidate for Mayor of Chicago, moments like this remind me of the difference between those who govern from behind a security detail and those of us who are out walking with the people, listening to citizens, business owners, and families in every neighborhood. Just days earlier, Mayor Johnson signed an executive order creating another Office of Gun Violence Reduction. Meanwhile, police officers hands are tied, Chicago families continue to deal with shootings, carjackings, robberies, and violence in their neighborhoods. Chicago doesn't need another office. Chicago needs leadership that delivers results. As Mayor, I will focus on reductions in crime, transparent government, forensic audits, accountability for every taxpayer dollar, and restoring public safety in every neighborhood, not just during election season. The people of Chicago deserve a mayor who spends less time creating new layers of BS and more time making our communities safe again.
