Incredibly, Hawaii is now within a Hurricane’s forecast cone... for the 2ND time this year. While the most likely scenario at this point in time is for Hurricane Lowell to pass to the west of the island chain, Kaua’i and Ni’ihau should still be on alert for any eastward shifts that result in a more direct potential impact. This is a strong and dangerous 130 MPH storm that is lurking in the dark waters beneath them.show more

⚠️A POWERFUL Bomb Cyclone is set to slam Europe... on Thursday as it tracks through the English Channel, bringing Heavy Snow, Strong Wind, and Rain. 💨 Hurricane force Wind Gusts are possible along parts of the French coast, with wind gusts expected to exceed 70mph as the storm rapidly "bombs out". ❄️ On the back side of the storm, Heavy Snow and Blizzard Conditions could develop across parts of England, as cold air wraps in behind the system and winds absolutely CRANK. ⚠️ This is a high impact, fast moving storm, capable of producing major travel disruptions, power outages, and dangerous conditions across multiple countries. Normally, I stick to US Weather, but this will be a very impactful Storm for our European Brotheren so I thought it was worth covering. Heads up my European Brotherenshow more

⚠️ I’m not liking the way this Winter Storm... is trending for our Texas brotheren.... One aspect that isn’t being talked about enough is the combination of significant Ice Accumulations followed by days of Brutal Cold. If Texas were to receive even a fraction of the ice currently being shown, widespread power outages would become a real concern. With frigid air rushing in behind the storm, temperatures could remain at or below freezing for days, making recovery much harder. This will not be as cold as the deadly Winter Storm of 2021, but the dangerous combination of ice and prolonged cold will still be there. 🌡️ Some areas could see temperatures 30 to 40 degrees below average after the storm, which would compound impacts if outages occur. I’m not saying panic, my Texas brotheren, but this is a situation worth paying attention to and preparing for if current trends hold. 👀 I’ll be watching this LIKE A HAWK 🦅show more

‼️I don't think people are grasping how MISERABLE this... Winter Storm will be. This Winter Storm will be NOTHING like last week’s storm❌ 🥶 Portions of the Carolinas will turn into SIBERIA on Saturday, as Hurricane Force Wind gusts and close to a FOOT of Snow fall at the same time. 🌀 Our Storm is what’s called a BOMB CYCLONE, meaning it is a rapidly strengthening Low Pressure System. 💨 Instead of a calm, steady Snow, conditions will be ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL inside the core of the storm as Blizzard like Snow and Wind WHIP around. 🌡️ On top of that, Temperatures will be Frigid, with Wind Chills close to 0. I’ll have another update later tonight, but right now this is looking like a BIG ONE for our Carolina brotheren. More to come my brotheren. 👊❄️show more

Here is a 3D visualization of the coming solar... storm using model parameters from NASA's run, NOAA's run (shown below), and the coronagraph views from STEREO-A/COR2 and SOHO/LASCO. The storm is expected to hit Earth early December 9. The 3D visualization clearly shows the low inclination orientation of the solar slinky core inside the larger storm envelope. Of course, the earlier eruption that erupted to the northeast, might deflect this structure a little bit, but likely that will only make the structure move more towards the ecliptic plane, which will give us a larger chance of crossing through the solar slinky core. One nice thing about low inclination flux rope cores is that they almost ALWAYS have southward field in them at some point. So this is good news for aurora photographers-- as long as this solar storm stays true to its launch trajectory and inclination, we could see some organized southward pointed magnetic field. Considering this solar storm is fast-- that usually indicates the storm will not deviate much from its original launch trajectory! Here is the link to a static frame of the 3D frame visualization so you can fly around it yourself:show more

Major Storm to Impact Southern California As of Wednesday,... February 12, 2025, at 6:50 PM PDT, the latest infrared satellite imagery confirms that the incoming storm system is fully developed and on track to deliver severe weather across Northern and Central California tonight into early Thursday afternoon. The system is intensifying rapidly, with a powerful surface cold front expected to sweep through San Luis Obispo to San Diego counties, bringing damaging winds, torrential rainfall, and the potential for severe thunderstorms. Key Storm Impacts: "Big Thursday" – A Major Weather Event • Extreme Rainfall Rates – 0.50 to 1.5 inches per hour, increasing the risk of urban flooding, flash floods, and mudslides, particularly in burn scar areas of Los Angeles County. • Damaging Winds – Southerly gusts of 45-65 mph, capable of toppling trees, damaging weak structures, and causing widespread power outages. • Severe Thunderstorm & Weak Tornado Potential – The latest HRRR model data (18Z, 0Z) indicates the presence of a squall line, increasing the risk of isolated severe thunderstorms and weak tornadoes between 12 PM and 10 PM Thursday. • Scattered to Widespread power Outages – Areas at risk include the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County, and portions of Los Angeles County, where infrastructure could be severely impacted. • Urban Flooding Concerns – Locations such as Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, Altadena, and Pacific Palisades will experience rapid runoff and potential roadway flooding, creating hazardous travel conditions. The Seriousness of the Situation This storm is shaping up to be one of the most intense weather events of the season, posing a significant threat to life and property. Residents in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas must prepare for prolonged heavy rainfall, high winds, possible power outages, and dangerous road conditions. Authorities urge residents to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and prepare emergency supplies. Those in flood-prone and burn scar areas should be especially vigilant for potential debris flows and flash flooding. This is a rapidly evolving situation and further updates in the next 24 to 30 hours. #CAwx #CaliforniaStormsshow more

🚨 It’s happening. Our Storm is entering BOMB GENESIS... MODE and is now rapidly strengthening. 💨 Conditions about to head downhill in a HURRY as Winds begin to CRANK close to Hurricane Force this evening , especially near the Carolina coastline. ⏬ Over the next 24 hours, this Storm is expected to drop 35 millibars in pressure, rivaling the rate of intensification seen in some of the MOST EXTREME Hurricanes in recent years. 🌀 At peak intensity, pressure could fall as low as 967 mb, territory normally reserved for a Category 3 Hurricane. 🌬️ That kind of pressure drop will drive WIND GUSTS up to 70 mph on land, particularly along the Carolina coast. This is near HURRICANE FORCE. 🌊Over the open water of the Atlantic, Winds could get as high as 100mph during the height of the Storm. Just insane. ❄️ The combination of HOWLING WIND and HEAVY SNOW will produce BLIZZARD CONDITIONS for many. ⁉️We should have widespread Blizzard Warnings across eastern North Carolina. Not sure why the NWS is holding back. But that doesn't matter. ❤️The HEART OF THE STORM is still ahead of us. 🔏LOCK IN. Hang on, my brotheren. With a little luck and a lot of toilet paper, we will all get through this. Godspeed and good luck 👊show more

The latest cone from the NHC really illustrates the... potential for Melissa to combine all of the worst elements of a Hurricane’s impact. A track like this would allow Melissa to explode in intensity while also dropping huge quantities of rain, yes. But the storm surge in this scenario may be a truly life-threatening factor as well. Notice here that the right-front quadrant of the Hurricane would funnel Caribbean saltwater directly into the bowl-shaped bays of SE Jamaica. The parishes there are some of the highest population centers on the island, so if you have a slow-moving Category 4+ storm take a landfall path like this, it could be a very treacherous situation for low-lying coastal areas.show more

I think we might need to invent a new... term for Rapid Intensification for this Blizzard. Because it is about to BLOW the normal parameters OUT OF THE PARK. ✅Normal rapid intensification, or Bombogenesis, is defined as a Storm dropping 24 millibars in pressure in 24 hours. That alone is an incredibly high rate. ⏫This Storm is forecast to deepen nearly DOUBLE that rate, with pressure falling OVER 40 millibars in just 24 hours. That kind of strengthening is almost UNHEARD OF. 💨 At peak intensity, this Storm may even LOOK like a Hurricane on satellite, with a tight core and powerful wind field wrapping around it. ⚠️ This level of intensification is exactly why impacts could become so extreme. 👊 This Storm is the REAL DEAL, my brotheren. Get ready to witness history.show more

GFS still maintaining a winter storm icy scenario. Despite... the EURO northern turn GFS hasn’t really changed. NWSAtlanta in their briefing this afternoon said models really struggle with the Arctic systems and overrunning. They stated that even 24 hours out it is difficult to predict precip types and locations. Throw in the Cold Air Damming we get in N Georgia and that makes it even harder to predict. We still have a Winter Storm Watch out for the entire Tristate area I cover and that watch could even be expanded southward NWS is saying. The hurricane hunters are doing sampling missions for NWS and that data will be entered into the models. Any additional support we can get will help. The upper air soundings just aren’t as good over western Canada and some parts of the USA. Therefore model initialization happens at different starting points for each set. Hopefully get some kind of agreement that zeroes in better. I would like to see a warmer solution especially if ice is the main problem. We have lots of cold air coming after the storm and anything that is on the ground or roads will not go away fast. Very COLD air is coming. #gawxshow more

An update on these 11 puppies that were dumped... in a plastic storage container last September where they could barely move or breathe, in Alabama. They were all rescued and cared for and adopted out and are now being loved and living in their forever homes. So many evil people in the world. I guess at least you could say they cut holes out in the bin for air to get through. Please have your pets spayed or neutered and instead of bringing a bunny home this Spring or buying a dog from a pets store, maybe think of rescuing a dog and adopting one at your local shelter. They are overcrowded and need help. 💔show more
