However, the relationship took a turn after Amrutha allegedly discovered that Dhanush had concealed a crucial part of his past that he had previously been married, was divorced, and had a child. Feeling betrayed, she ended the relationship and distanced herself from him. Police said Surya was enraged by Amrutha's decision and had warned that he would not spare her for rejecting his brother's love. On July 13, a confrontation reportedly broke out at Amrutha's residence. During the altercation, Surya allegedly attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the chest and back before fleeing the spot.
