Melt spinning: a materials processing technique that looks ridiculous,... but is actually key for producing amorphous metals (metallic glasses or metglas) used in some high-efficiency grid distribution transformers and other power electronics. This example video from NASA Glenn Research Center of their planar flow caster was posted in 2016. (h/t to my colleague Ryan Alimento for explaining this process to me!)show more

Ok so I've been teasing this Non-Planar print to... show off another use case for the E3D #NippleNozzles besides belt printing but now its time to reveal the greater purpose. In collaboration with Michael Wüthrich we developed a technique to illustrate one of practical values of Non-Planar 3D Printing. It may not look like much now but you can clearly see there is much less friction imparted to the steel ball in the front ramp which was 3D Printed using Michaels current NP slicing process as compared to a traditional layer by layer topographical print. What are some other practical uses for Non-Planar? More on this soon!show more

Today I was disqualified for the first time in... my cycling career (14 years), for wearing glasses that record video. Unfortunately I was not aware of a new rule that was implemented in April that prohibited this. A warning, fine or yellow card could have also been enough. But what I struggle to understand is why In the Tour de France can you quite literally vlog with a camera in your hand which is perfectly legal...but because the camera is in the glasses you get an automatic Disqualification?! Yes, If I knew about the rule I would have also never posted it on social media. Anyways, I'll take it on the chin. Here is the video that got me disqualified & the other video is just to show what is completely allowed it seems. And lastly, my glasses have absolutely no AI capabilities unless used with a phone. So on the bike it can do nothing but record video!show more

ICE Facility Officer Rape. David Courvelle, 56, was an... officer at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center. He pled guilty to a federal sex-abuse charge involving a woman in custody. According to court reporting, the abuse went on for months. He faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing was scheduled for April 10, 2026. This is what abuse of power looks like inside ICE detention facilities: a locked system, a captive woman, and a guard using total control for sexual access. Detainees and their families are lied to about their rights. They are denied contact with attorneys and phone calls to their families. This lack of information and knowledge about rights and due process makes isolation and abuse easy. is built to give that information to every immigrant, family, friend, and ally FREE. One last stop in #bali to surprise a community... that was in need of a new school with the BIG news that Lance Breitstein 🇺🇸🌎 has donated a new school for them and construction will begin this month and will be finished in a few months! Until now, these kids have sadly not had a place to learn, they just used some extra space in the community center which has been FAR from ideal -- thanks to Lance's generosity, they'll soon have their own school to learn in later this year! Everyone please retweet this and join me in thanking Lance for his donation as this will be his 3rd Karmagawa school and if we get 200+ retweets, he's promised me he'll actually come to Bali and visit these kids in person!!!show more

This weekend has definitely been one for the history... books. Friday, flying from Phoenix to Newark. Saturday, attending my Dad’s funeral there, and Sunday, flying back to Phoenix. This workout was definitely needed to decompress from the mental and emotional exhaustion of this weekend. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for my Dad, for the example of strength and resilience he has shown me since he first came into my life at the age of 7. He freely picked up the responsibility and mantle of Father that my biological father chose to forfeit. He loved me like I was has on flesh and blood, and was my first example of health masculinity displayed through love. For 35 years I gleamed knowledge and direction from him, and how to stand in my truth, even when it’s not difficult and unpopular. I thank him for covering me, molding me, and correcting me, and most importantly loving me. I’ve endured ALOT of loss this year and regard to connections and people, but this one has to be the most difficult. Yet I know that I will be okay. It may take a min, but I know the power that can be produced from pain. I will continue to move forward, and keep his memory in my heart for all my earthly days.show more

Ok so I was actually working on this so... my wife would let me keep Linux on this 2-in-1 tablet PC. Completely vibe coded but it borrows the same philosophy where SUPER + SHIFT + Key is for applications while SUPER + CTRL + Key is for system stuff (btop, bluetooth, etc) - i.e., separation of concerns. Here it's 1 finger for scrolling within the app, 2 fingers for rearranging the windows, 3 fingers for app-level manipulation like fullscreen, dismiss, etc. 4 fingers for workspaces. Same "just sit down and learn it bitch" UX but actually quite good and better than iOS once you get used to it. Just a first pass though - I should really join the Discord and see if someone else is working on this. I'm not sure if this should land in Hyprland or as an Omarchy plugin. And no I'm not trying to make a political statement, that's just an awesome mouse pad. Recorded this video earlier to show my wife lol.show more

HTML Artifacts are a big part of how I... work with agents now. Artifacts can be more than just static files. When combined with agents, they can take action or help you take action. This unlocks all kinds of interesting ways to work with agents. This is clearly the future. Check out this writing and scheduler artifact I built in a few minutes. It uses a bit of HTML and JS. All the data is in markdown (Obsidian vaults), so the agent can access and modify it at any time. No DB needed. No sophisticated functionalities. The agent decides all that for me based on the skills, context, and memory it has access to. The best part about this simple stack is that all the important information stays with me. This has allowed me to build a recursive self-improving system and automations that can better tap into coding agents like Codex or Claude Code. I could have paid or built an entire app for scheduling posts, and there are so many of them out there. But I don't need to. I've realized a simple artifact does the job. And the simplicity of it is actually an advantage. Very little maintenance for very high returns on personalization, time, and efficiency. The other benefit of this is that I can add features as I please. That level of personalization feels magical, and we should all be pursuing more of it. All of this just keeps compounding. Of course, this example is just about writing. But I have similar artifacts for research, design, experimentation, evaluation, and so much more. And no, I didn't actually publish the post example I shared in the clip. It was just for demonstration purposes. I actually spend more time than this when writing together with agents. Lastly, having built my own agent orchestrator tool has made me realize that simplifying the tool stack is a superpower. If you are curious about how all this works, I will do a live session next week:show more

Lets recap who Anita Sarkeesian is first: A liar... that used games to climb ladder. Here are the actual quotes: In a 2014 New York Times op-ed, she described campaigning as a child for a Game Boy: “I remember, when I was a kid, desperately trying to persuade my mom and dad to buy me a Game Boy. They were very reluctant. … I persisted, however, and after some months of campaigning finally convinced my parents…” In a 2015 Wired interview, she stated: “I have been playing games for most of my life.” However the 2010 video clip a pre-fame panel/student-presentation video when she states: "“I’m not a fan of video games. I actually had to learn a lot about video games in the process of making this. […] I’m not a fan of video games. I would love to play video games, but I don’t want to go around shooting people and ripping off their heads, and it’s just gross."show more

How to calculate the power required for a water... pump. 1. Pump system The diagram shows a pump moving water from the suction side to the discharge side. H = Head: The height/distance the pump must lift the water. Suction: Where water enters the pump. Discharge: Where water leaves the pump. 2. Formula The formula used is: Where: P = Pump power in watts (W) ρ (rho) = Fluid density, for water 1000 kg/m³ g = Gravity, 9.81 m/s² Q = Flow rate in m³/s H = Pump head in meters η (eta) = Pump efficiency as a decimal 3. Given values The example gives: Flow rate Q = 75 m³/hour Head H = 30 m Water density ρ = 1000 kg/m³ Efficiency η = 70% = 0.70 First, convert the flow rate from m³/hour to m³/second: 4. Calculation Putting the values into the formula: This gives approximately: or: 5. Final answer The calculated pump power is 8.75 kW. In practical pump selection, you would normally choose a motor with some safety margin, so a motor larger than 8.75 kW may be selected depending on the pump's actual performance, starting conditions, and manufacturer specifications.show more

MaskINT: Video Editing via Interpolative Non-autoregressive Masked Transformers paper... page: Recent advances in generative AI have significantly enhanced image and video editing, particularly in the context of text prompt control. State-of-the-art approaches predominantly rely on diffusion models to accomplish these tasks. However, the computational demands of diffusion-based methods are substantial, often necessitating large-scale paired datasets for training, and therefore challenging the deployment in practical applications. This study addresses this challenge by breaking down the text-based video editing process into two separate stages. In the first stage, we leverage an existing text-to-image diffusion model to simultaneously edit a few keyframes without additional fine-tuning. In the second stage, we introduce an efficient model called MaskINT, which is built on non-autoregressive masked generative transformers and specializes in frame interpolation between the keyframes, benefiting from structural guidance provided by intermediate frames. Our comprehensive set of experiments illustrates the efficacy and efficiency of MaskINT when compared to other diffusion-based methodologies. This research offers a practical solution for text-based video editing and showcases the potential of non-autoregressive masked generative transformers in this domain.show more

I just built my own wiki generator plugin for... my agents. My agents can now generate wikis for anything I ask. One of my favorite wikis is called PaperWiki. This is a great example of what Andrej Karpathy describes. It uses obsidian vaults to organize papers, retrieve LLM-generated summaries, diagrams, and other advanced views for paper exploration. When Obsidian UI is not enough, I use my own artifact generator inside my agent orchestrator (see clip for example). This allows my agents to build any kind of view or exploration feature that I need. The papers are all curated with automations and several rules/patterns I have manually built over the years. On the surface, this looks basic. But behind the scenes, there are advanced search capabilities, connections, metadata, derived data, and other interesting bits of information that are extremely useful for my research agents. This is mostly built for agents. The artifact preview is just a high-level way to validate and quickly assess the quality of the wiki, suggest improvements, and it's also great for research. I use tobi lutke's qmd for all search capabilities. Everything is markdown. The summaries and even the diagrams. The wiki updates on its own based on several automations I have optimized over the past couple of weeks. The wiki grows and self-improves based on several requirements important for my research use cases. This is as personalized as it gets. There is nothing like it out there. And I use my research expertise to continue improving it over time. This is a vanilla wiki. There are so many things I want to build on top of this. Different aggregations, views, artifacts, etc. All to help automate more of my research work and accelerate productivity. I think the biggest leverage here is how powerful this could be for discovery and experimentation. One of my goals is to use it to find deeper connections and insights that would otherwise elude the top human researchers and use those to generate interesting new hypotheses and research experiments. That way, my agents can use autoresearch to explore research ideas at the frontier. Stay tuned for more.show more

I’m sorry. I HATE calling out other creators, but... what Katie Joy of “Without A Crystal Ball” is doing to my friend right now, gaslighting her audience about being a victim of his has me LIVID. I made a very respectful comment explaining a lot of missing context, and why I felt it was manipulative and she DELETED it & BLOCKED me! I’ve sat silent for WEEKS as this woman took shots at me and my friends… declaring I’m “not in this for the right reasons”. Excuse me?! I’m blowing my savings making a documentary NO ONE will buy 😂 ! It’s that important to me!! Shame on her constantly picking fights. I’m so sick of this divisive high school DRAMA! Zack went into that rant to stick up for me and others SHE targeted! Enough is enough. I have to stand up for my friends. Stop the in-fighting! It’s what Blake wants! Here’s the comment she didn’t want her audience to read:show more

An overlooked dimension in Syria’s analysis is personal and... emotional for the rebels: the longing for home and family reunification. In this multilayered event, the uprising of the displaced is clear. Since the offensive began, Syrian timelines are filled with videos of families reuniting, tears, collapses, and overwhelming emotions. Many of the fighters I have seen in videos are from displaced communities, separated from their homes and families for over a decade and fighting to go back to their towns. In this video, a rebel leader from Hama, prepping fighters from Homs to fight for their city: “Like I was happy to meet my family today (voice shaking), each of you will see your mother.” This motivation is a real one: “everyone of you will see his mother...” This is by no means the full picture or the only motivation. It's only a single aspect of it, but it’s a crucial one that deserves to be highlighted on its own to build the complex big picture of what's happening. I added another video from a list I'm compiling of videos of people reuniting with their families or places.show more

I just launched a brand new channel with an... INSANE strategy. I'm calling it the Launch Loop. I've been working on this channel for over a year, and took the actually massive risk to hold off on posting until I had all 5 launch videos ready. Each idea was carefully selected for this strategy, and each one was carefully written to execute it. I view this channel launch, and these videos, not as individual videos but as a season of a new show. The plan was this: come up with video ideas that fit together, and write the end of each video to smoothly blend into the next. I treated the conclusion of each video as if it was the intro of the next video, so that if people enjoyed what I made and wanted to see more, they could click the next video on the End Card This was inspired by work I've done in the past: a few years ago on my YouTube strategy channel, I posted a video about Ryan Trahan's thumbnail strategy which has gotten over 2M lifetime views. But at the end of that video, I carefully wrote a transition showing video my comprehensive breakdown of 21 thumbnail formats. The End Screen video CTR on that video is 29.4% 🤯. I'm convinced that some of those 2M views must have come from the success of that end screen. I've come to believe that it's really important to bring in an audience to your CHANNEL, not just one video. That was a mistake I made in another channel I worked on before! Getting virality on individual videos, but not keeping viewers for the long term or growing an actualy community. So I thought, what if I launched a channel where every video pointed to the next, in a loop? Maybe there will be a flywheel where success on one brings success on the next, and the next, and the next... But for this plan to work the videos I made have to actually be good 😅show more
