Mesmerizing 45-degree infinity module of the GA3D project in... action. The GA3D Project is a “side-project” driven by a passion for the RepRap 3D printer theme, aiming to extend the RepRap/DIY (Do-It-Yourself) spirit to other processes and fields. The basic machine consists of a frame with a fixed table, and a 3-axis Cartesian robotic arm with CoreXY kinematics crossed in the XY plane. A very simple tool changer is located at both ends of the robotic arm. This makes it a modular machine that can be easily converted into any machine. Video Credit: Alain D. Cornell engineers have developed a robotic collective that behaves... less like a machine and more like a material that flows, reshapes, and adapts to its environment without centralized control. The system, called the Cross-Link Collective, consists of dozens of small robots that have limited mobility individually, but together exhibit coordinated and sustained motion. The research, published May 20 in Science Robotics, demonstrates a robotic system that resembles soft matter, continuously deforming and reorganizing as it moves, driven by what researchers call mechanical intelligence. THIS 20-YEAR-OLD GIRL BROKE DOWN 5 COMPANIES IN 3D... PRINTING AND FOUND WHERE THE MONEY ACTUALLY IS 3D printing looks like the business of the future, with hundreds of millions in investment swirling around it. But look closely at the ones who actually made money, and the picture turns out unexpected Every company made millions, but none of them did it on the printing itself. The reason is simple: a printer today is ordered from a catalog, and files copy for free, so anyone can replicate the printing Since the machine is easy to copy, the money shifts to what can't be. Each company has its own niche: > ICON: printing is 1 of 7 phases, the rest is finishing and engineering > Firestorm: prints where a supply chain physically can't reach > Revo: years of work on the salmon recipe, not the extruder itself > Replasia: the implant is in trials, but the measurements already sell > Alquist: a single corporate client ordered 200 buildings It works like this: first you find your niche, whether it's a client with repeat orders, a rare material or a place with no competition. And only then do you buy the printer Do it the other way and buy the machine first, and you're left competing on price with a factory and losing. The printer is just a tool, the money comes from everything built around itshow more

A lot of you are thinking that the spring... which we will supply to Prakash Dadlani will be produced at the speed of 1304 ppm. That’s not true. All springs are not made on one kind of machine. The CNC machine we built that produces springs up to 1304 ppm manufactures compression springs. Whereas, the springs for Prakash bhai will be made on one of our 12-axis CNC wire forming machine. And on this the speed is much slower but it has flexibility to produce a number of different kinds of springs and wire forms. The design, type, materials, wire diameter and profile, features and precision of the springs defines what kind of machine will be used. It’s not one machine that does it all. This video is of that springs being manufactured on our other CNC machine. Also, the operator is setting the spring up that is why he is using his hands. Once it’s in production, there’s a crate underneath the machine for the springs.show more

The Fourier series is a way to represent any... periodic function as a sum of simple sine and cosine waves. In essence, it breaks down complex signals into a combination of basic trigonometric functions, making it a powerful tool in mathematics, physics, and engineering for analyzing waveforms, heat transfer, vibrations, and more. 📹 Credit : mathswithmuzashow more

The most interesting part of this robot is not... the arm. It is the gripper. Instead of pushing the whole robot faster, this setup adds speed at the end effector. The gripper itself becomes a moving axis that can accelerate independently of the arm. That changes the physics of the system. • Faster cycle times without stressing the robot structure • Less inertia to fight against • Motion where it actually matters, at the tool center point It is a reminder that many performance limits in robotics are not solved by bigger motors, but by smarter mechanics. ——- Weekly robotics and AI insights. On June 22, the United States signed one executive... order to build a quantum computer and, the same day, another to defend against what a quantum computer can do. The first establishes a national effort to build a machine powerful enough to open a new era of scientific discovery, delivered to a Department of Energy lab. The second orders an accelerated national migration to post-quantum cryptography, because the same physics that makes the machine useful makes today's encryption breakable. Read the two orders against each other and the asymmetry is the entire story. The order to build the machine sets no delivery date and is explicitly subject to the availability of appropriations. The order to defend the data sets hard deadlines: a migration pilot due December 31, 2027, and high-value systems moved to post-quantum cryptography by 2030 and 2031. The machine is a national aspiration. The migration is a national deadline. This is the part almost no one is pricing. Even the government is treating the regulatory clock as the binding one, while the market keeps watching the hardware clock. A product does not need to be broken to lose its value. It only needs to become uncertifiable, and the date it becomes uncertifiable is now written into federal policy. The machine can stay distant. The proofs are already on the clock.show more

Before the part ever touches the machine, it's already... been built. This is a 5-axis toolpath, programmed in CAM to map every angle, every pass and every cut. When it's ready, that program goes straight to our DMG MORI. The machine rotates and the tool engages. Then, it executes exactly what you see on screen, with extreme precision. Five axes of motion provide complex geometry in a single setup, with better accuracy. This is precision manufacturing for satellites at our factory in Northern California. 🇺🇸show more

HE STRAPPED A BATTERY TO A $599 MAC MINI... AND TURNED A DESK COMPUTER INTO A 14-HOUR PORTABLE AI WORKSTATION 00:03 the battery slides onto the side of the mac mini and the whole setup stops behaving like a desk machine. now it can run from a backpack, power a screen, hold local files and keep working without asking for an outlet. that changes the use case completely. instead of renting another cloud box, one silent computer can handle research dumps, meeting notes, scraped pages, voice transcripts and small automation jobs from almost anywhere. with claude connected, it becomes a moving command center. 45-minute calls become summaries, 120 saved links become organized notes, and messy project folders get cleaned while the machine quietly keeps working in the background. the interesting number is not the battery size. it is the avoided rent. one portable local box can replace $25 storage, $39 automation, $20 transcription and another $30 vps bill if the workflow is built correctly. this is no longer just a desktop. it becomes a portable ai machine that keeps working long after you leave the desk. bookmark this before portable ai becomes the new normal.show more

The Smith machine is the best hypertrophy tool in... any gym, and the men who hate it are the men it exposes. Fixed bar path = nothing leaking into balance Safe to failure = every set taken where the growth actually lives Ten seconds to set up = a lift instead of a ritual The objections, in descending order of seriousness: - "It makes it easier." Correct. Easier on the wobble, harder on the muscle. - "It isn't functional." Neither is a bicep. Name the function. - "It neglects the stabilisers." I do not train muscles nobody can see. - "Free weights or nothing." A rule written by men whose backs never turned up. Your stabilisers were never the limiting factor. They were the reason you stopped the set early and called it a chest day. Every serious bodybuilder alive has a Smith machine in his programme somewhere. The purists have a barbell, a bad shoulder and an opinion.show more
