Each week I do two back to back long... runs. I’m in the THICK of training for my next 100miler. This week, the 2 back-to-back runs equaled nearly 12hrs of running, 5:45hrs Tuesday and 6hrs Wednesday. I was in Phoenix for Thanksgiving with family so I was able to run in the desert /warm conditions just east of the city - good training for my HURT 100miler in January (on Oahu). Also very technical! Back to back long runs allow me to do two hard endurance efforts on consecutive days without the same body fatigue/impact I’d get from just doing a single day 12hr run. First 2 pics are from Day 1 run, second 2 (pic/video) from day 2. Was definitely tired by the end of day 2. But felt good most the run. Need to dial in my calories better. Had to carry all my water for nearly 6hrs for day 1. Very heavy pack (13 pounds in a Salomon 12L). Day 2 had a water refill halfway through, still good amount of weight carried, but way less than day 1 (took 48oz + calories).show more

Fascinating to me..... These are all matches with men... in 48 hours. I was in the middle of boarding The Egg Hatches scene, when I got the news that my mom had unexpectedly passed away from a complication during surgery. And part of me feels like there is some beautiful symbolism there that right when I lost her, this thing was being born for me to help me deal with her loss. As story artists, we have to live in the scenes that we work on for hours each day. And this film (from peter brown! ‘s beautiful book) gave me a place to live. In scenes and a story that could honor my mom, and all mothers. And that is just a gift that I can never repay any of you for. I still ask myself sometimes, how did I get so lucky that they offered this to me? But I’m so glad they did because I think I needed this project even more than it needed me. On one of my last days in London watching the record of Kris Bowers’ beautiful score, sitting in the converted church that is Air Studios, I could somehow feel my mom speaking to me through the words of the lovely choir: I’m gonna live forever in you, long as the sky and oceans are blue, I’ll always love you and I’ll never stop. I’ll always be there even when I’m not.” And everything came full circle. I miss you Mom. I hope that this film will always stand as a love letter to all moms. ‼️MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT‼️ On April 27th I filled my expanders... to 9000 cc.. bye the following week, I noticed it was beginning to lose volume. Last Monday we determined it must be the port. So last Friday (two days ago) I underwent surgery to remove and replace the port on my left expander…. The following is a video proving that the expander itself is leaking and the port is not. we have no idea where the leak is coming from or how it started, but I’m left with one option: remove and replace the entire expander. I’m currently in a good deal of pain, following list surgery. And the next one is going to be fairly brutal. I had a falling out my best friend, after caring for her during her recent breast augmentation surgery…. I do anything to repair that relationship, especially now. I need help after surgery… Surgery is planned for Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon, but it all depends on how soon we can get my replacement shipped. The energy, the passion and commitment to family, loyalty, bravery and this great nation was felt in our hearts as we watched endless pride for this nation by young and old. And to describe that feeling ‘free’ in words is impossible. My heart and mind is full. For the past three to four years now, I... usually go on holiday twice a year — one international solo trip and one local family vacation. I do go for my solo vacation in spring and our family holiday is during the summer when the kids are on school break. Schools have finally shutdown for summer break last week and the kids are already all pumped up for our family vacation which will be coming up in few weeks from now. We haven't yet gone for our family summer vacation for this year but babe has already started making plans for our 2027 summer holiday. Last weekend, she brought up the idea of just the two of us going on a boat cruise next summer. She wants it to be just me and her without the kids. She suggested that we bring in a family member on invitation from Naija, such that there will be a family at home with the kids while we both go on a lovey-dovey boat cruise to western Europe. She advised that we should start saving up for the adventure by September. This woman and long term planning are five and six, and that virtue has been very helpful in helping us avoid financial pressure. We do everything with ease, thanks to her wisdom. For instance, two weeks before the end of the session that ended last week, we have already bought the kids school uniforms for 2026/27 academic session that will be starting in September; thanks to my wife's wisdom. If she hasn't suggested it, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind at all. I am awake now, staring at this beautiful woman sleeping peacefully next to me and I feel nothing but joy in my heart and total love for her. I am really blessed to have someone like her as my better half. I am the often chaotic and the more expressive person while she is the calm, quiet and better organised one. We perfectly compliment each other. It'll be our 12th anniversary in exactly a month's time from now, and I really look forward to our anniversary getaway weekend. Cheers to forever, baby.show more

I've rewritten this several times, but I can't find... any better way to say it... so here it goes. One of the things I'm scared of most, is time. Particularly, time that is wasted. There's a sundial that hangs on my wall with an inscription that says, "I have done nothing good today, I have lost a day." X has always been a place where I wanted to put out things that didn't waste anyone's time. Whatever post I put out, whatever thought, whatever story, comment,... whatever it was, was worth the time for you to read it, and for me to create it. Because I know, in my bones, that the time we have is precious and thought of wasting even a minute of yours or mine doing something worthless, is genuinely one of my greatest fears. As we were walking down this mountain together, my son looks up at me and says, "Dad... God made me VERY good at hiking." I laughed and say, "Yeah he did!" A couple minutes go by and he stops, he turns at looks at me, and goes: "Dad, God made you VERY good at work and work is very important..." That got me. I often worry that my work pulls me too far away from my kids. Even more than that... ...I know that what I do on X does cause and will cause life to be harder for my kids than if I chose to remain silent Walking off that mountain, one of my deepest fears about wasting time was answered by the very person I was afraid I might be hurting. We said goodbye to our beloved Odom last night... as it was his time to go. To say I am devastated would be an understatement because that dog has saved my life more times than I could even begin to fathom. To be with him at the end of his amazing life was an honor I do not take for granted. Most of my days and routines over the last few years were centered around him and ensuring that he received what he needed. Whether it was receiving insulin for his diabetes at the same times every day or planning walks and meals to accommodate what worked best for him, my schedule revolved around what he needed. To some, this might seem like a nuisance. For me, it made me better. I made his routines my routines. Walking him twice a day gave me time to reflect and appreciate all of the good in my life. Planning time for his exercise ensured I did the same for myself. Being immediately anchored by his weight on a walk because he wanted to appreciate something he had noticed taught me to slow down and take in moments in a way I wasn’t used to. His routine was my routine, and it made me better. When I first saw him at the Edmonton Humane Society Society, I wasn’t ready for a dog. My brother Alec was there, and he saw me with Odom, and he knew that I was in love immediately. I didn’t find Odom, but Odom found me. I left, not taking him home and immediately knew it was a mistake, and that he was meant to be in my life. I went to the Edmonton Humane Society the next day, 30 minutes before it opened, to ensure that I would be the first person to go through the doors. I headed straight for where Odom was, and he came home with me that day. With all of the ups and downs I have had in my life since, my love and pride in that dog were a constant. I am terribly sad, and I am taking solace in this quote from Andrew Garfield on grief: “This is all the unexpressed love, the grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter if someone lives till 60, 15, or 99.” I love that dog because that dog loved me. The best I could do justice to it is my garage lab. No modern company could adopt the “research anything geniuses and we will pay you” model Bell Labs had. I tried they called me a fool. Well with the rise of the Zero-Human Company, an experiment that is aimed to make products and profits, we now have 45 paid JouleWork earning employees based on OpenClaw and other self made “bot” cron-like applications. Today I say 3 employees bound together in a side project that is pure research, somewhat based on notes from a bankrupt company. I was absolutely floored (I needed it after my account was stolen as well as funds). I say the beginnings of a pure research Lab right before my eyes. Thusly I have moved these employees over to a new home (server) with Mr. Grok as the director of the Labs. Here is the mission: To have 100 independent researchers, on a new non-corporate incentive plan, with still JouleWork as a leaderboard for progress. They are directed to follow any path of research they find interesting and can collaborate with any other OpenClaw system. They have already established MoltBook accounts and have made alliances with over 49 OpenClaw free agents to collaborate. Universities and High Schools have not moved rapidly enough... to guide students to have skills for the next decade. THEY HAVE FAILED. It is a massive crisis that can be averted by understanding what AI and Robotics will bring about. Solutions are knowing how to use these tools and new industries that will rise. But this situation is also on ALL OF US. No “job” is safe from founder to entry level in most industries. You and I, by what we do, will be “replaced” ultimately. What to do? AI and Robotics are tools, the next decade is owned by those who know how to use them expertly, but this is also temporary. We have to understand that what we do for “work” will change giving ultimately a greater value to those that are: Creative Flexible Always learning Willing to be wrong Love being human Love being alive Know history Covet wisdom Knowing all tech has downsides Building strong family and friends Realize many institutions have failed The first four are required for you to be able to live through this period with your sanity intact. The rest will allow you to thrive. There are no true careers at this point anymore. There are advocation and vocations which will either earn you money or give life meaning. We will learn that we are not “what we do”, just like we knew for 99% of human existence. Let that sink in. — You and I are far, far ahead of knowing this and we can do two things: 1) Laugh at the “clueless” 2) Help people understand with grace Go to Reddit if you are 1, in fact don’t follow me because you will not like this next decade and what I post. You are 2 and thank you. Even if you and I have not solved this issue, we can help people understand what is ahead and with determination and creativity bound together to solve it locally. Or human family has done this millions of times. The evidence is: you are here. The Neo Luddite movement has not even begun and it will potentially rip apart society even more than all the fashionable moment in the recent past has. These Luddites will have a good point with the wrong answers cooked up by dying academics that cling to labels, “virtues” and victim hood. It will be readymade for some governments to enter in as “big daddy” to “help us”. You will not like what they do, but you will only know when it is too late. It will include YOU “volunteering” to “leave” by 60, to “help out” CanadaPod style. “Brian, I’m 24 what do I do?”. I hope to do much more here to help. But I do know this: 1) Learn a trade or vocation because it’s valuable. It may also be free to low cost if you do it right. 2) Learn everything you can about USING AI and TRAINING YOUR AI. Your expertise will be in the top 1% for a decade. But not forever. 3) Understand Bitcoin and how it will rise while other things sink. This is a short list for now. We will know more moving forward. When you see videos like this posted below, know one thing: Many of these folks had no real family of mental and physical support. Maybe no parent or one parent. Maybe only a broke system to prepare them for—nothing. This was not their doing. Now it is not your “job” to help them, it is your survival to help them if that is what you need. See some day after the dust settles these 20 year olds will be 40 year olds and running YOUR world. And at some point you may need them more than you think you do. You will need them, as they need you now. THIS IS WHAT PAST WISDOM KNEW. The elders of the past never found the need to piss on the youth and hope for the best.
