Massive news from AI and biotech: Google DeepMind co-founder... Demis Hassabis has just raised $2.1 billion for Isomorphic Labs. For years, Hassabis and his team have been building powerful AI that can predict protein structures, design brand new molecules, and dramatically speed up drug discovery. Now Isomorphic Labs is turning that technology into a full scale effort to tackle what traditional medicine has struggled with for decades. $2.1 billion. One clear mission: use AI to transform how we fight disease and ultimately cure what was once thought incurable. This is one of the biggest bets yet that the future of medicine will be powered by code. Clinical trials, expanded pipelines, and real world impact are coming. The Board of REACT19 regrets to inform our community... of the sudden cancellation of this week’s meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the CDC. The meeting was cancelled following a federal court ruling that blocked recent vaccine policy changes and invalidated the current ACIP advisory panel while legal challenges move forward. For many in our community, this meeting represented a long-awaited opportunity. After more than five years of waiting, patients and families had prepared impact statements in hopes that the urgent need for clinical recognition, research, and care for those suffering from serious post-vaccination conditions would finally be discussed. For those living with these conditions, this cancellation is deeply painful. It means more waiting, more uncertainty, and more time without the clinical guidance needed to help physicians recognize, diagnose, and treat patients who have been suffering for years. Our hearts are with every member of this community who had hoped their voice would finally be heard this week. However, even in this difficult moment, important progress continues. On March 18, REACT19 will still be part of a historic step forward at the CDC. A proposal for a new ICD-10 diagnostic code related to post-COVID-19 vaccination conditions will be presented, opening a public comment period and moving the medical system closer to formally recognizing these patients. Diagnostic codes are more than administrative tools. They are a critical foundation for clinical recognition, medical education, research, insurance coverage, and ultimately the development of treatments. Establishing an ICD-10 code would represent an important step toward building the clinical infrastructure needed to care for patients who have too often been left without answers. While the cancellation of the ACIP meeting is a heartbreaking setback for our community, the work to achieve medical recognition and appropriate care continues. If the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services prevails in its appeal, the ACIP process may resume. In the meantime, REACT19 remains committed to ensuring that the voices of patients are heard and that progress toward recognition, research, and care does not stop. To every patient and family who has shared their story and stood with us through years of uncertainty: we see you, we hear you, and we will continue advocating for the care and recognition you deserve. — Board of Directors REACT19show more

Google is doing some great AI work in India... that is actually helping farmers on the ground and honestly, almost nobody is talking about it. It’s surprising how much we focus on every new model drop, while some of the most meaningful AI work is happening quietly in the real world. Google DeepMind’s AnthroKrishi team built two AI models using satellite imagery: - Agricultural Landscape Understanding (ALU) maps farm boundaries, trees and water bodies, with historical data going back 15 years. - Agricultural Monitoring & Event Detection (AMED) uses multispectral data to monitor crops, sowing and harvesting, identifying 11 major crops. And this is already being used at scale: - 5M+ farmers in Telangana through its agricultural DPI - 140M+ hectares covered by Terrastack - 2.6M hectares of irrigated land in Karnataka - CarbonFarm is using it across 12 countries - FAO is integrating the models into its global agricultural data platform with $2.5M from Google These models are now providing agricultural insights across 6 African countries, and the Agricultural Landscape Understanding layer is one of the most popular layers on Google Earth globally.show more

🚨BREAKING: GOOGLE WARNS 6.9M BITCOIN WILL BE VULNERABLE WHEN... QUANTUM COMPUTERS BECOME POWERFUL ENOUGH A new Google Quantum AI whitepaper has identified approximately 6.9 million Bitcoin $BTC vulnerable to future quantum at-rest attacks. Around 1.7 million BTC sits in old Pay-to-Public-Key scripts, with public keys permanently exposed on the blockchain. This includes coins widely believed to belong to Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto. No quantum computer powerful enough to exploit this exists today. But the paper warns that when one does, these dormant assets require no transaction to be broadcast — a future attacker could simply derive the private key silently from public data. The research team revealed that a superconducting quantum computer could derive a Bitcoin private key in approximately 9 minutes — just inside Bitcoin's average 10-minute block time. Google warns the coins represent a "fixed, multibillion-dollar target" if protocol changes are not made in time. The paper proposes governments consider legal frameworks for "digital salvage," treating dormant quantum-vulnerable coins similarly to unclaimed sunken treasure, to prevent them falling to rogue states or criminal actors first.show more

SoftBank is reportedly in early talks to back a... massive $800M funding round for Munich-based Agile Robots, with a contribution of over $ 300M. The move signals a major escalation in Masayoshi Son's "brains and bodies" strategy to dominate physical AI infrastructure. Why this matters for the robotics industry: 🤖 The Flywheel: Agile Robots isn't just hardware. Founded by German Aerospace Center (DLR) alumni, they vertically integrate AI software with humanoids, warehouse automation, and robotic arms. 🧠 Frontier Ecosystems: Agile ONE was recently named a founding member of NVIDIA’s Cosmos Coalition and is deep in a research partnership with Google DeepMind to bring Gemini to the factory floor. 💰 The Capital Race: Global investment in robotics more than tripled in 2025. SoftBank is pairing this hardware play with its recent $1.4B investment in Skild AI and its $5.4B acquisition of ABB Robotics. While both companies have declined to comment on the early-stage talks, the deal highlights a furious shift toward deploying foundational AI in physical manufacturing and logistics.show more

For years, Kala-Azar was a death sentence for some... of India’s poorest families. And treatment itself felt like punishment. 15 injections. Every alternate day. A drug that sometimes caused dangerous heart complications. For many families, surviving the disease wasn’t the only battle, a month away from work often meant losing the income that kept food on the table. Prof. Shyam Sundar from Banaras Hindu University looked at this reality and asked: What if one dose is enough? In 2010, his landmark study in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that a single-dose liposomal amphotericin B treatment could cure Kala-Azar with a 95.6% success rate. One breakthrough changed everything. He also helped introduce rapid diagnostic strip tests that cut detection time from weeks to minutes. WHO updated treatment protocols. The medicine that cost nearly ₹19,000 per vial started reaching India free through donation programmes. Today, India has moved from battling Kala-Azar outbreaks to pushing toward elimination. And behind that story is a professor who spent decades making sure poverty didn’t decide who lives and who dies. #PadmaShri #HealthcareHeroes #MedicalInnovation #PublicHealth #IndiaNews [Padma Shri, Kala Azar, Public Health, Medical Innovation]show more
