How Did Pi Network Build a Huge User Base... Before it Had a Fully Open Blockchain? Launched in 2019 by Stanford graduates, Pi (Pi Network) made crypto participation possible through a smartphone app instead of expensive mining hardware. But what exactly made its model different? (1) It made mining accessible through smartphones. Pi allowed users to earn Pi by checking into the app and starting a mining session. The process was designed to consume very little battery and computing power compared with traditional proof of work mining. This removed one of the biggest barriers to crypto mining, expensive hardware and high electricity costs. (2) It turned users into part of the network's growth engine. Pi introduced referral bonuses that encouraged existing users to invite friends and family. Users could also build security circles by adding people they trusted to the network. This created a built in growth mechanism that helped Pi expand its community rapidly. (3) Early Pi mining was not traditional blockchain mining. Before Open Network, users were not securing a public blockchain through conventional proof of work mining. Instead, the mobile app helped establish user participation and prepare the ecosystem before the network became publicly accessible. (4) Pi built the community before opening the network. Pi spent years operating through different development stages before launching its Open Network in February 2025. A firewalled Enclosed Mainnet had already gone live in December 2021, giving the project a working but closed blockchain years before it opened externally. During that period, the project focused heavily on growing its user base and developing its ecosystem. This flipped the usual crypto growth model, where networks often launch first and try to attract users afterward. (5) The Open Network changed what users could actually do. With Open Network, Pi became externally connected to the broader blockchain ecosystem. Users were now able to engage with Pi beyond the closed system it had been previously in, while developers were free to create applications on the network. This made the token and its massive community more realistic.show more

We stayed at the lovely Eynsham Hall over the... past few days. Built by James Mason and continuously owned by the Mason family for 5 generations. Mason made his fortune by buying copper mines in Portugal that had previously been worked by the Romans. He converted from tunnel to open pit mining, built 11 miles of track, and a seaport to service the mine. One entrepreneur, one big development deal, created a family dynasty. The details of the inheritance mechanics are not public, but the Mason family have done something right to maintain a 3000 acre property over 5 generations. Part of that is leasing the “big house” to a hotel operator. They converted their biggest liability into a cash-flowing asset. They also lease the surrounding acreage to farmers, which gives a great vibe to the hotel guests with sheep wandering around off the back deck. Also another revenue stream. Cheers to old man Mason. Thanks for the great family memories 🍻show more

Anti-mining protests that have roiled Panama for the last... two weeks turned deadly on Tuesday when a man allegedly shot and killed two demonstrators, according to police. A chilling video posted by bystanders on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed a disheveled elderly man apparently frustrated with the logjam trying to force the protestors to remove a barrier blocking the Pan American highway about 50 miles south of the capital, before pulling out a pistol and opening fire. Panama’s National Police later said they arrested the suspected gunman at the scene of the shooting. Other footage showed people standing around bodies in the road in the Chame sector west of Panama City as well as the gunman being cuffed and led to a squad car. Police later shared a photo of the suspect handcuffed to a pipe as he was identified as Kenneth Darlington, 77, a lawyer and professor who holds dual citizenship in the US and Panama, according to Newsroom Panama and Agence France-Presse. One of the shot protesters died at the scene while the second was pronounced dead at a local hospital, AFP said. The unusual scene of violence is the latest flashpoint in some of the largest protests to hit the Central American nation since Panamanians flooded the streets en masse to demonstrate against the dictatorship of Manuel Noriega in the 1980s. For weeks, tens of thousands of protestors have vented their fury at a controversial mining contract given to Minera Panama, the local subsidiary of a Canadian mining company, to extract copper, a key component in electric car batteries. The contract allows Canada’s First Quantum Minerals to restart an open-pit copper mine surrounded by rain forest for the next 20 years, with the possibility of extending for another 20 years. Environmentalists say the mine could contaminate drinking water and devastate tracts of the 32,000 acres the company negotiated use of, in exchange for yearly payments of $375 million. . . . #TheTatva #TatvaNews #US #Panama #Shooting #Protest #Shoot #Fire #People #Mine #Mining #Deadly #ENvironment #Traffic #Grandpa #Old #Lawyer #Police #Arrestshow more

Powering America’s Copper Comeback | Airing on BNN Bloomberg... and FOX Business Copper is the backbone of energy transition — yet the United States faces a looming shortage of this critical metal. Arizona Sonoran Copper Company (ASCU) is answering that challenge head-on with the advancement of its Cactus Project, located just outside Phoenix, Arizona. Once a historic open-pit mine, the site now stands as one of the most developable copper projects in the country — offering existing infrastructure, robust economics, and a clear path to near-term production. With a published pre-feasibility study outlining a long-life, low-cost operation, Arizona Sonoran is positioning itself as a cornerstone of America’s copper resurgence. The biggest Bitcoin miners on earth are quietly walking... away from mining Bitcoin, and the reason is not the one everyone keeps repeating. They are not fleeing a dead business. They lost an auction for their own power, and the winner was artificial intelligence. Start with the brutal arithmetic. It now costs the average public miner around $80,000 in cash to produce a single Bitcoin, and for stretches of this year $BTC traded below that. The most efficient operators on the cheapest power still clear a margin, but an estimated 15 to 20 percent of the global fleet is mining at a loss right now, burning more in power than the coins are worth the second they are minted. Three straight downward difficulty adjustments earlier this year, the first such streak since 2022, were the footprint of machines going dark. That looks like a simple story of a broken business until you see the number that explains the exodus. The same megawatt of power that earns a Bitcoin miner roughly $1 million a year earns between $10 and $20 million a year hosting AI compute. Ten to twenty times more, for the identical electricity, substation, and cooling. What made industrial miners valuable was never the mining. It was the power contracts, the land, the grid interconnects. AI walked in and bid an order of magnitude higher for exactly those assets. Mining did not fail. It got outbid for its own infrastructure. When Core Scientific runs its BTC segment at a negative margin while its AI colocation business prints money, the decision writes itself. CoinShares estimates listed miners could pull up to 70 percent of their revenue from AI by year end, up from about 30 percent. The power is being repriced to its highest use, and Bitcoin lost the bidding. If the giants leave, what happens to the network they secured? The doom posts assume it weakens. It does not, because Bitcoin has a self-healing reflex written into its core. When miners switch off, blocks slow, and within two weeks difficulty automatically drops, which makes mining cheaper and more profitable for everyone still running. The security does not vanish, it relocates, and you can already see where. State-backed pools are appearing, with one Gulf operator reportedly standing up a national pool near 3 percent of global hashrate, alongside private fleets and the handful of public miners like Marathon still choosing to buy Bitcoin rather than lease their power away. The network even hit an all-time high above one zettahash this year as the pivot accelerated. It does not need any particular miner. It needs someone, somewhere, for whom the math still works, and cheap stranded power has no shortage of those. But there is a deeper timer here, and the AI pivot just exposed it. Today miners earn almost everything from the block subsidy and almost nothing from fees, often under one percent of revenue on a quiet day. That subsidy halves again in 2028, and every four years after, marching toward zero. For Bitcoin to pay for its own security forever, fees eventually have to replace it. The open question is whether they can, and the evidence cuts both ways. On busy days, during token launches and inscription waves, fees have already spiked past 15 percent of revenue, and in 2024 some blocks earned more in fees than the entire subsidy. The capacity is there in bursts. Whether bursts become a baseline is the single most important unanswered question in Bitcoin. The AI exodus did not create that question. It pulled the cover off it years early, and showed how fast capital abandons hashing the moment something pays more. So the honest read is not that AI kills Bitcoin mining. It is stranger than that. AI is the first bidder rich enough to reveal what Bitcoin's security was always quietly worth, and what it will cost to keep once the free coins stop coming. The miners are not abandoning a sinking ship. They are selling the deck to a higher bidder while the same clock everyone forgot about keeps ticking underneath.show more

Everything’s bigger in Texas... and after seeing this, I’m... convinced that’s not just a saying, it’s an absolute fact. Over at Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que in Llano, Texas, somebody looked at a regular pork chop and said, “Nah... make it Texas.” I’m talking a pork chop so massive it looks unreal. 🤯 Cooked over an open flame until the outside has that perfect bark, while the inside stays juicy enough that every bite looks like it should come with dramatic movie music playing in the background.🔥 This thing quit being a pork chop somewhere along the way and turned into a full-blown Texas experience. Ahmed (Ahmed Ashour 𓂆🇵🇸) is a friend of mine... from Gaza. He just DM’d me a video he captured moments ago— a man walking toward an ambulance, carrying what looks like a small red bag. But it’s not groceries, it’s the remains of a boy. That’s what’s left of him after an airstrike targeted Ahmed’s neighbor. You can hear them calling “Come collect, we’ve got a head and three limbs and …” This is daily reality. Ahmed is just a normal guy — like me, like any of you. Yet these are the scenes he’s been forced to accept and endure. Quietly. Resiliently. He shouldn’t have to, as no one should. To those who have been saying, “We don’t need to see more bodies” — you do. Until a ceasefire is actually implemented, you do. You will see them because these bodies exist due to your taxes, your weapons, your silence, and your complicity. Who is the boy in that bag? Did he not have a name? A mother? A life? What compels us to let him be reduced to this? We had 460 days to stop this genocide — to prevent more innocents from being turned into bags of meat and bones. We failed. What happens tomorrow, if nothing changes? If you’ve stayed silent on Gaza, these are your final days to speak before the genocide ends — one way or another. When it’s over, there will be two kinds of people: those who said something, and those who did not. It’s not too late. But it will be.show more

DJ Dibul was assaulted by his wife but everyone... is making fun of him. A man’s calm demeanor should never give any woman the impression that she can slap or abuse him. Violence is violence, regardless of gender. Yet men who speak out are shamed, silenced, or dismissed. It’s time for men to defend their dignity. Start beating the shit out of these women who think they are strong enough to beat men. We need to speak openly about abuse. We need to reject the stereotype that men cannot be victims. We need to challenge a culture that protects one gender and ridicules the other. This is not about fighting women. It’s about demanding fairness, equality, and respect for men too. Society must stop treating male pain as a joke. Men must stop suffering in silence. It's time to guide ur frame,, enough is enough!!!show more

When an abandoned Pit Bull turned its face to... the wall every time a family stopped at its kennel, and I learned why, it broke something quiet in me. By the twelfth family, people at Briar County Animal Rescue had stopped calling it a coincidence. They called him rude. Or damaged. Or one of those dogs who “just doesn’t want people.” He was a stocky brown-and-white Pit Bull, maybe four years old, with a broad head, one torn ear, and the kind of stillness that made strangers uneasy because it looked too deliberate to be fear. His shelter card said Male. Neutered. Good health. Found abandoned near county road. His intake photo showed him staring directly into the camera, eyes amber and alert, ribs just faintly visible beneath short fur. But by the time families came to meet him, that dog from the photo had vanished. The kennel door would rattle. A child would point. A mother would bend down and say in the bright, hopeful voice people use when they want love to happen on schedule, “Look at this sweet boy.” And the Pit Bull would turn around. Not slowly. Not shyly. Decisively. He would walk to the back wall, sit with his shoulders squared, and face the cinder block as if the people standing ten feet behind him had already become a memory he preferred not to keep. The reaction was always the same. At first, confusion. Then awkward laughter. Then disappointment, which in shelters hardens quickly into judgment because there is always another kennel, another dog, another chance to be chosen without being made uncomfortable first. One man muttered that the dog was mean. A teenage boy said it looked ungrateful. A woman in a camel coat whispered to the volunteer beside her, “Why would anyone adopt a dog that won’t even look at you?” The volunteer had no answer. Neither did Kayla Moreno, the shelter’s adoption coordinator, though she tried. Kayla was thirty-one, compact, sharp-eyed, and the sort of woman who kept spare leashes looped over one arm and dog treats in every jacket pocket she owned. She had seen fear biters, shut-down seniors, clingy owner surrenders, and wild strays who mistook affection for a trap. But this was different. This dog did not panic. He did not bark. He did not tremble or lunge or cower. He simply refused to participate in hope. That made people angrier than open aggression ever could. By the end of the week, the Pit Bull had become a small ugly legend inside the shelter. Staff called him Winston because every dog needed a name, but visitors started referring to him as “the one who turns away.” Children lost interest in under a minute. Adults shrugged and moved on. A rescue partner declined to pull him because dogs with “poor kennel presentation” did badly in foster pipelines. One older volunteer, tired and not unkind, said what several others had already begun to suspect. “Maybe he just doesn’t deserve a home if he keeps doing this.” Kayla hated the sentence the moment it landed, but what unsettled her more was that part of her was starting to resent him too. Twelve families. Twelve chances. Twelve times he had chosen a wall over a hand reaching for him. Then one night, after the shelter closed and the last mop bucket had been rolled away, Kayla pulled up the security footage on a hunch she could not explain. And what she saw after midnight changed the whole story.show more

The k- drama We Are All Trying Here is... a must watch I know some people will watch one episode and call it boring. Because It’s not fast paced. It’s slice of life in the most literal sense people sitting in rooms with their envy, their 20 year old dreams that never launched, their friends who made it while they didn’t. It’s quiet. It’s slow. It lingers on silences. But that’s exactly why it gutted me. Because this show understands the war you don’t talk about. The one where you open Instagram at 2am and feel like a failure. Where you’ve been “trying” for years and the world still doesn’t know your name. Hwang Dong-man, twenty years into film school, still no debut. Byeon Eun-ah, called “The Axe” because she has to kill other people’s dreams for a living. Everyone in this drama is carrying some private worthlessness, some comparison they can’t shake. It’s not entertaining in the way K-dramas usually are. It’s uncomfortable. It holds up a mirror to the parts of you that feel behind, bitter, unseen. But that’s why it’s so relatable. That’s why I think everyone should watch it. On the outside, life looks fine but inside, everyone is struggling in their own way. And I think that’s what makes it so relatable. We spend so much time pretending we’re fine, pretending we’re winning. We Are All Trying Here just. admits it. We’re all scared we’re wasting our lives. We are all anxious. We’re all trying here. And maybe that’s enough to start with. #Wearealltryinghereshow more

satoshi never existed. nobody writes code like that. not... that clean, not that surgical. the early bitcoin codebase doesn’t read like code from some anonymous guy on the internet. bitcoin's early codebase looks like it was handed to us. the whitepaper came out six weeks after the 2008 crash. that's not enough time to dream up a working distributed consensus system, let alone build one. then there’s secp256k1. not secp256r1, the curve everybody used. k1 was obscure, weird, and a terrible choice if you were just following convention. but it also happened to be one of the hardest to backdoor. and then satoshi disappears. roughly a million btc, untouched. people don’t walk away from that kind of money unless the money was never the point. because maybe bitcoin was never just money. what it actually did was create a global incentive to build compute. millions of people, in every country, pouring capital into hardware and electricity to chase block rewards. no state could have coordinated it that fast. no company could have justified it. a protocol paying out internet money gets people moving. then nvidia happened. the same GPUs pushed into the world for mining turned out to be perfect for large-scale parallel compute. the same hardware appetite bitcoin created ended up helping make modern deep learning possible. bitcoin launches in 2009. imagenet breaks things open in 2012. three years. bitcoin was the bootloader. and we’ve been running the install script.show more

hyunsuk and jihoon snuck into the dorms at lunch... scared the staff would catch them eating ramen in secret but got even more scared when the door opened but nobody was there + it wont close on its own as it should 😭 #최현석 #지훈 (at 11:52 of the content) 🦔 (heard the sound of door code pressed, door opening and shoes taken off but the sound stopped there and nobody came in) 🦔 we thought someone arrived… tbh that time we snuck out without the staff knowing so we were alr scared 🦔 “oh we cant get caught though” so we both froze for awhile and tbh when we were trainees, they were very strict… 🦔 we were gonna eat ramen in secret that time so we hid it and figured out what to do and when we settled down, no one came in. 🦔 (said they’d hear it if they went somewhere) 🦔 from then on, bc jihoon and i get scared so easily, were like “you go!” “no, you go” and argued for about 10 mins cos we get easily scared. 🦔 i eventually went out to check but there was no one near the shoe rack and the funny thing is it was just jihoon and i, just the two of us so there should only be two pairs of shoes, though there were untiedied shoes too, but there was another pair of shoes that weren’t there when we came in. so we wondered if someone came in quietly but in the end it’s really just the two of us inside the dorms. 🦔 and what was scarier was that like in most apartment buildings, the front door force closes so strongly so if you dont hold it open, it would automatically close right? ours is the same. it wasnt even left on a veryain angle but it stayed open… 🦔 so we spent another 10 mins arguing again and i went outside thinking someone must be holding on to it but there really was no one there. so we tried closing and opening it at that angle again and let go of it but it would close definitely. it doesnt make sense right? 🦔 so thats when i first understood it when people say when you’re truly scared, you cant even scream, you just freeze. 🦔 after we snapped out of it, we wer able to check the intercom footage, but nobody got off the elevator, nobody came up the stairs either, it just showed the door opening by itself like this so we were absolutely terrified and i think we left right away.show more

Catwoman uses a grapple gun to zip up to... buildings and she has a built in wingsuit. #LegoBatmanGame We already knew this, I just wanted to see it in action in a free roam setting. I’ve started to make my peace with it somewhat. I’ve already made my peace with the wing suit, but the grapple will take and getting used to only because I think she should be able to utilize her whip as the grapple and please do not give me that thing about “it’s not long enough” she was able to utilize it in the Arkham games (please see my attached screenshot reference of me literally playing Arkham city right now and the whip length) and it didn’t even properly wrap around things and the length was inconsistent when she used it to get to the top of buildings I’m not saying that she needs to be able to scale the buildings like she doesn’t ask them because I understand the movement will not work like that in this game giving the open world, but it will be very nice if her grapple to zip up to buildings was replaced with her whip. It’s a Lego game who cares about the inconsistent lengths of the whip? Regardless, I am super super excited and I cannot wait to get this game in my hands on the 19thshow more
