For example, a modern Phalanx CIWS in its latest block carries about 1,500 rounds. A short burst against incoming drones typically consumes 150–200 rounds. This means each CIWS has enough ammunition for roughly 6–8 drones, if everything goes perfectly and no additional bursts are needed. There is no time to reload a second time before the drones begin hitting the ship.
