Under the close supervision and proactive guidance of Commander, #VictoryForCertain Bde, a swift and synergised firefighting response was launched, involving troops of the #VictoryForCertain Bde, Air Force Station Kasauli, Cantonment Board Kasauli and Civil Fire Tenders. For over 16 hours, ground columns battled the flames along Gilbert Trail, Shourya Marg and adjoining areas, preventing further spread and safeguarding critical heritage zones. The air effort by #IndianAirForce Mi-17 helicopters, through effective Bambi Bucket sorties, proved decisive in containing the blaze. All personnel and equipment are safe. No loss of civilian or combatant life has been reported. Relentless in Adversity: Indian Army Leads Search and Rescue... Operations in North Sikkim In the aftermath of the devastating landslide that struck North Sikkim, the Indian Army is working relentlessly under extreme weather and hazardous terrain conditions to assist local residents and stranded tourists. Lachen village, the main hub for tourism in the region, has been completely cut off. The Army has established foot connectivity to the village and reached out to 113 stranded tourists, who will be evacuated soon. On 03 June 2025, 30 tourists, including some foreign nationals, were successfully airlifted by military helicopters. Meanwhile, search operations continue with urgency to locate the six individuals still missing after the landslide struck a military camp at Chaten. The missing include Lieutenant Colonel Pritpal Singh Sandhu, Subedar Dharamveer, Naik Sunilal Muchahary, Sepoy Sainudheen PK, Squadron Leader Aarti Sandhu (Retd), wife of Lieutenant Colonel Sandhu, and their daughter Miss Amayra Sandhu. The Army has deployed specialised teams and engineering equipment; however, the ongoing efforts have been significantly hampered by extremely bad weather, unstable ground, and the challenging high-altitude terrain. INDIAN ARMY RESTORES VITAL ROAD CONNECTIVITY IN RAMBAN WITH... LAUNCH OF 150-FOOT REINFORCED MAITRA BRIDGE Due to recent incessant rainfall in Ramban district, a vital stretch of the Karol–Maitra Road, an important artery connecting Ramban district with mainland was washed away. This road is critical for linking government establishments and villages and its loss disrupted daily life, stranding locals and vehicles. The District Administration requested assistance from the Indian Army for urgent restoration of connectivity. The washed-away site was located nearly 20 metres above the Chenab River under unstable cliffs. Accordingly, a team from the White Knight Engineers was deployed and they executed the launch of a 150-Foot Triple Panel Double Storey Extra Wide Reinforced Bailey Bridge, designed to ensure heavy traffic bearing capacity. BRO, NHAI, District Administration & Police Department Ramban and other civilian agencies assisted in early execution of task. In addition to it, the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief operations under the project #HumAapkeSaathHain continued in the region covering Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi, Akhnoor, Rajouri and Poonch districts, providing timely relief to people affected by torrid rains, landslides and flash floods. More than 5000 people were provided relief and number of Medical Camps were organised at remote villages to provide necessary medical aid. These sustained efforts including construction of the bridge provided timely medical, veterinary and food supply across remote locations, which showcased that Indian Army stands shoulder to shoulder with the people it serves.
