Former Germany Coach Joachim Löw on the news of... Argentina AFA giving their full support to FIFA president Gianni Infantino; “I don’t know how long this corruption in football will keep going on, it’s clear to everyone that the AFA and Infantino are in bed together. I hope UEFA step up and save football before it gets worst. Football is not a business deal, it’s a sport that should unite the world but some people and the corrupt president are trying to make it about money. Just pathetic”show more

Confession from an England fan: there’s one thing in... this whole US vs England war the Americans are just better at, and it’s time someone on our side said it. Not stadiums - Craven Cottage vs MetLife is two different conversations, 130 years of history and a billion-dollar engineering marvel can both be impressive. Not the football - England is the authority there, the most watched league in the world, where the stars play, same way the US is the authority on baseball whether or not they win the World Baseball Classic. It’s sports coverage. Any English sports fan who’s been to the States knows the feeling - wall-to-wall sport, endless channels, proper production, and you think: why don’t we have this? Even our players feel it. Marc Guehi in England camp this week: “Waking up, turning on the television and seeing ten sports channels in a row is top. It’s amazing.” And that’s exactly what CBS bottled. The best Champions League studio in the world is American-owned, European anchors - Abdo, Henry, Carragher, Richards - built by a producer who modelled it on Inside the NBA. They took the thing we envy about American sports TV and pointed it at our game. And it works better than our own product. The rest - the Tampa pitch outrage (it was a dodgy pitch), the USMNT record graphics (one knockout win ever, lads), the atmosphere wars (you like Coldplay concerts, we like limbs) - is noise. Let’s argue about something real instead... World War II.show more

Men who pretend to be women have a very... singular goal of invading women's sport, not for the sake of the sport itself, but for the sake of pretending to be a woman. It doesn't matter what sport, what team, what level or where they are playing. As long as it's for women, that's all that matters to them. When Rhys McKinnon, aka "Veronica Ivy" was kicked out of women's cycling, he switched to golf. When males were banned from women's sports in South Carolina, Brayden "Blaire" Fleming transferred to California. When males were barred from most of the WFA (Women's Football Alliance), all of the men simply switched to a separate league. Graduation certainly doesn't stop them. Declan "Harriette" Mackenzie played four years of "women's" collegiate ball, stealing as many titles as he possibly could and even a national championship title. He's now taken his male advantage to the streets so he can beat up on amateur female players as well, "dominating the paint" and taking a 1st Team All Star award at last year's Dolphin Classic. It remains to be seen if he will participate again on a "women's" team in this years' classic next week.show more

Another UK Mosque terrorist attack with worshippers in it.... No outrage in UK media, no condemnation from the PM, no wall to wall coverage, no mention of explosion of anti-Muslim hate & Islamophobia on BBC, Daily Mail and Sky, no mention by Labour or Tory leaders, no reference to how British Muslims fear for their lives. This comes days after hate marchers incited violence against British Muslims at ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally right outside 10 Downing Street - no action by the govt.show more

It takes GRIT and sacrifice to play Div 1... Soccer. Self reflect and ask yourself these questions: 1. Will you get up for early AM lifts and not just drag yourself there but arrive happy and energized, eager to work and motivate your teammates? 2. Are you ready to miss family events—weddings, birthdays and be separated from your parents for longer than you ever have before? 3. Can you manage every aspect of your life for the first time by yourself, before you even throw in the rigors and demands of a sport? 4. Can you survive in an environment where you are defined by your sport and have very little social life existence outside of athletic and academic obligations? 5. Can you handle the mental challenge of going from the super star to possibly bottom of the roster, sitting on the bench, and/or not traveling with the team? 6. Will you be genuinely happy for your roommate who is getting all the playing time and attention while you’re getting none? If all answers are a resounding YES than you are built for this, but it’s not for everyone. And actually not for most. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. As a part-American, allow me explain the difference. I... have been to many sporting events all around the USA, and of course, many in the UK and in Europe (because Aston Villa are massive). For Americans, sport is about entertainment. Big scores, no draws. What happens on the pitch is almost secondary to the performance. Hence pop songs between every play, all kinds of mascot and cheerleader shenanigans, the Armed Forces shenanigans before kick off. This vid was taken at Purdue at half time when they were getting absolutely pumped by Notre Dame. Embarrassing defeat: doesn’t matter, the show must go on. For Brits, football is something more existential. The seemingly unprompted unison chants, the camaraderie, the explosion upon scoring a goal… nothing in US sports matches it. Not even close. The old grounds and history are part of the charm. I wouldn’t swap battered old Villa Park for any of the US sports arenas I’ve visited. That doesn’t mean both aren’t a splendid day out, and I love my IU, Colts and Cubs, but the American sports experience does not come close to the British football experience for sheer emotion and spontaneity - EXCEPT in finals, when the jeopardy and tension is on a par.show more

Made my debut on Sky Sports News (LIVE) today.... A massively surreal moment, one I never really imagined was possible. Filled with so much pride being able to represent the incredible organisation that is Her Game Too and the new collaboration with Kick It Out. 52% of women have experienced or witnessed sexist behaviour or language on matchdays, of which 85% of those had never reported it. It’s time to change that going forward by creating a safer and more inclusive game for women. + a really exciting weekend ahead filled with IWD celebrations across the UK. If you’re at Brentford v Villa and would like to be involved in my SSN social takeover, drop me a message. P.S. enjoy my Villa optimism (or delusion) at the end xshow more

🌒☀️ THE UK’S BIGGEST SOLAR ECLIPSE SINCE 1999 IS... ALMOST HERE! ☀️🌒 Good afternoon everyone, On Wednesday 12th August, people across the UK will have the chance to witness the greatest solar eclipse visible from the UK since the famous 1999 eclipse — and we won’t get another eclipse this impressive from the UK until 2081! 🤯 Exactly how much of the Sun disappears behind the Moon — and the time of maximum eclipse — will depend on where you are in the country. Some western areas will get an especially impressive view as the eclipse takes place during the evening and heads towards sunset. 🌅🌒 ⚠️ PLEASE PROTECT YOUR EYES! Never look directly at the Sun, even when most of it is covered by the Moon. Use proper certified solar-eclipse glasses or an indirect viewing method such as a pinhole projector. Ordinary sunglasses are NOT safe. 📲 Please share or forward this to your family and friends so they know there’s something rather special happening in the sky on Wednesday evening! After all, the next comparable UK opportunity is a very long wait… 2081! 😳☀️🌒show more

🚨🗣️New: Thierry Henry reacts to the USA vs Paraguay... stoppage for TV commercials: “I’ve spent my entire life in this beautiful game — as a player at the highest level, as a fan, and now as someone who analyses it every week — and what unfolded during that USA versus Paraguay match left me deeply frustrated. The fourth official standing there on the touchline, arm raised high, instructing the referee to hold the restart… not for any injury, not for tactical reasons, and not even primarily for player hydration in that scorching heat. No. It was because the broadcast team hadn’t finished airing all their commercials. That’s not football. That’s a television show pretending to be a World Cup match. The beautiful game is being strangled by greed. Players are out there in the heat, ready to restart, momentum building like a storm about to break — and we pause everything so the sponsors can cash in. It’s like stopping a symphony mid-crescendo because the advertisers want their jingle heard. Football didn’t conquer the world by turning into American sports with endless timeouts and ad breaks. We had rhythm, flow, emotion that flowed like a river. Now? It’s dammed up for dollars. This isn’t about hydration or player welfare anymore — it’s a slippery slope where the soul of the game is sold piece by piece. Fans deserve better. Players deserve better. The referee on that pitch looked like a puppet on strings controlled from some broadcast truck. Enough is enough. We need to protect what made this sport the greatest on Earth before it disappears completely.” The World Cup should be football’s cathedral. Instead, we’re turning it into a shopping mall with a pitch in the middle. And here’s the question nobody wants to answer: if the fourth official is waiting for commercials, then who is really running the game? FIFA? The referee? Or the broadcasters? Because the moment football starts asking advertisers for permission before asking the players, you’ve crossed a line. The World Cup is supposed to be the showcase of football. Not the showcase of who paid the most for airtime.”show more

This is one of our local farms. When farmers... are gone, who helps ? When a field catches fire, something remarkable happens in the countryside. Before the last fire engine has even arrived, neighbouring farmers are already on their way. Tractors leave fields half-finished. Cultivators and ploughs are used to cut firebreaks. Water bowsers appear from nowhere. Everyone has one aim: stop the fire, protect wildlife, save crops and, above all, keep people’s homes safe. Look at these photographs. See just how close the flames came to those houses. I’ve often said that farmers are Britain’s fourth emergency service, and days like this prove it. They don’t ask who owns the field or whose problem it is. They simply turn up. It’s time this Government The Labour Party started recognising farmers for what they really are: not just food producers, but environmental custodians, protectors of our countryside and champions of our rural communities. The next time you see a farmer driving towards a fire instead of away from it, remember that’s what real public service looks like. From the stands of Brentford Stadium in the UK,... Mr Peter Obi joined fellow Nigerians and Afro-Caribbean brothers and sisters to witness not just a football match but a movement. The 2025 Unity Cup, revived after a 21-year pause, was more than sport; it was a symphony of culture, history, and the unyielding spirit of the Black diaspora. With Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago gracing the pitch, the air was charged, with the rhythms of ancestral drums, the aroma of homegrown delicacies, and the vibrant colors of our shared heritage. It was an atmosphere that spoke not only to the beautiful game but to beautiful people. The clash between Nigeria and Jamaica was enthralling, but beyond the goals and tackles was a deeper truth: sports remains one of the most powerful forces for unity and national pride. As we watched Nigeria take the win, Mr Peter Obi saw a mirror of our potential, a reminder that when we come together, greatness is not only possible, it is inevitable. Mr. Peter Obi, ever a statesman, joined in cheering the Super Eagles to victory, a symbol of leadership that inspires and connects across borders. To the organizers of the Unity Cup, Mr Peter Obi says: well done. You have reawakened a legacy and given our youth a global stage to shine. May we continue to build on this momentum, amplifying the light of Nigeria and the brilliance of Africa to the world. Congratulations to the Super Eagles. His victory belongs to all of us. Let the spirit of unity lead us forward. -DrMoshow more
